downloaded Dragon Age: Origins' character creator. It's fairly nice but I have one question:
why the heck was THAT a demo?! you pick like 4 options and then you get to look at the other options you'll be able to work towards as you build your character. the available stuff is fairly nice, don't get me wrong, but it's EXTREMELY barren for something released on its own. you get all of 3 minutes worth of stuff to do and you're done. why is that worth having early?

*is now the proud owner of a copy of World of Goo*
wasn't the guy who made world of goo one of the biggest whiners about piracy? I remember him *****ing a lot about it. I wonder how he feels about selling his game for one cent to hundreds of people.
Most people would be complaining about piracy regarding games while the games are still reasonably capable of getting sales.

Yes, okay, very good, I don't like overly hot food either, I'm sure most people don't. I'm saying this guy was very vocal about it, in internet media and other similar mediums.

Symbolic? People that would normally get the game ilegally, can now get the original legal version for the price they want
Obviously the game is not selling so much as it was, so he does that, and maybe, he's planing on releasing a sequel and by this way, the first one will be know by a wide public, and maybe garanteeing buyers for a sequel
Or he's just nuts and think that people are actually going to make the right decision and pay the $20 usd

Or he's just nuts and think that people are actually going to make the right decision and pay the $20 usdthat's not so much ironic, really. it would be ironic if he wasn't gaining anything from this, but I'm fairly sure this is an advertising ploy to get attention before a sequel. I really can't think of any other reason to give a game away.
I was writting a long text explaining why it was ironic and while typing I realized I wasn't completely right.
To the question, who hasn't bought Goo at its old price nor downloaded it ilegaly yet wants to play it - see: Plasma. I'd assume that very few people. I'd also assume there's very few people who are into the PC indie scene and have a credit card who haven't bought Goo because it's not interesting to them (people who buy other indie games) since Goo is pretty much a great game whoever you ask. I'd also assume that there's more people, not many, but more than the two other cases that didn't buy Goo because they couldn't afford it.
So basically, I want to direct my hate towards a different person, not the author, but the morons who buy it now for 1 or 5 cents and didn't download it ilegaly. You aren't better than the pirates, and paying a simbolic sum of money won't save you from hell.
What's funny is that if you give them 1 cent through PayPal, 2D Boy will still get hit with the 35 cent or so handling fee! Also, bandwidth costs.
But honestly, I don't even think the point here is to actually make money, but it's rather an advertising stunt. OK, maybe not a good way to advertise World of Goo specifically (because by the end of this deal anyone who wants to play it will have done so), but maybe for their next game? In short, I'd be really surprised if they made any money from this at all.
Akuryou13

In short, I'd be really surprised if they made any money from this at all. I think going into this sort of thing you just assume that everyone's going to pay a penny, and take anything more for added bonus.

Technically I got it legally for free, so I'm exempt. Nyeh!
But really though, it's more of the principal of the matter. We just don't like going against the developers' wishes, even if it doesn't make a physical difference. It's a matter of respect.
I think going into this sort of thing you just assume that everyone's going to pay a penny, and take anything more for added bonus.
I think the whole donation thing here is the only reason they actually have it require some sort of payment, rather than just making it free like Savage was.

That's a bit harsh, ain't it? :pnot at all. I can't afford much right now so I'm planning on only buying one game this holiday season. MW2 was without question going to be my game, because it'll very likely have a single player on par with the original and a similarly amazing multiplayer.
by making that multiplayer be based on an auto-match system where I can never decide who I play against, they're completely ruining the online experience. I don't want to play people on my skill level. I want to play clans of people who are all going to own me back, forth, and sideways. I want to be able to play these people constantly so that eventually I can improve. I want to find servers that I like and return to them time and time again because they offer settings and a community that I enjoy being a part of. these are the reasons I play FPS games on a PC, rather than just buying a 360 and plugging in a mouse and keyboard.
if TF2 switched to an auto-match system I can tell you right now i wouldn't play it anymore. I don't play battlefield heroes because of that system.
there is absolutely no way to implement a matching system and still be enjoyable.
I'll probably still pick up MW2 down the road when it's cheaper, but I'm not spending $50 on a 10-hour singleplayer game even if it's better than MW1.
edit: hell. auto-matching is why I don't play L4D online, and it actually makes sense for L4D to be on that system. putting that system on a normal game? unforgivable.
edit2: I feel it warrants mentioning; if the singleplayer turns out to be rather extensive and very good I'll still pick the game up. it will, however, have to be absolutely extraordinary for me to even consider it. multiplayer was my reason for buying the game. without it I'm going to need quite a bit of rave reviews to change my mind.

The people who pirated it will keep on pirating it, the people who paid full price will keep on paying full price. All that's left is the people who wouldn't do neither, so he's just handing them a "discount coupon". It's Marketing 101. Even if those people are cheap enough to not afford 20 bucks, he's still getting more than if he had just left them gameless, because he doesn't have to pay some manufacturing cost or whatever for each sale that'd reduce his profits.
Also there's always people donating crazy amounts of money to crazy things, so someone will compensate all the cents.

Always playing TF2 with my clan ends up like always being "home" and becomes stale and boring and I eventually play on random servers just to loosen up.
This doesn't work for L4D at all because the game isn't designed for massive playing but for teams of 4 players that have to completely cooperate or die, so playing with friends is the only option.
if TF2 switched to an auto-match system I can tell you right now i wouldn't play it anymore. I don't play battlefield heroes because of that system.Um, Battlefield Heroes still lets you join friends' games and have favorite servers.
The only problem is that there's no auto-balance system, since characters have a fixed side, so the matchmaking is the only thing that can keep sides balanced.

Yes, there are a bunch of people who bought an Xbox because his friends did, and in an attempt to autojustify their choice they lead their mind to the delusion that games like Halo are the second coming of Ocarina of Time, or that Modern Warfare 2 will actually compete with Uncharted 2. Microsoft fanboys and similar scrubs of the gaming world, mature at once, play Uncharted 2 and stop messing around with wannabe games developed to fool the most idiotic of consumers.
Uncharted 2 is a novel, a movie, a game and a page turning puzzle solving book in the same package. People will tell you that when they want to read a novel they'll pick one up, old school style. These people are fools, yes, classic sex is good, but how many would go through the effort of fighting for it if a peanut gave you a comparable orgasm? Not to mention buying a peanut is actually a achievable feat for slow moving cheese eating Spore playing fatasses who can't play W:A (W:A players are considerably better at sex than the average internet person, WWP players are below the average, W2 are actually very good, but only homosexually). Anyway, play this game, redeem yourself from the lie you've been living so far, this game is a two in one, scrub noobs would liqueue infront of their favorite gameshop to buy this game even if it had no story and only offered the multiplayer aspect. And the story is great, without wanting to spoil anything, Marco Polo and Adolf Hitler.
Buy it. Buy it if only to attempt to find its flaws to be able to prove me wrong in team17 forums inc. you'll eventually get uncharted (enchanted LOL).

Don't say Modern Warfare 2 because i'm getting it as soon as it comes out, don't say Brutal Legend because i'm trying it later, and Batman Arkhum Asylum i've played already, and I didn't think much of it.

Finished Mario and Luigi 3 Bowser's Inside Story. Undoubtedly a fantastic game, but it doesn't quite compare to Super Mario RPG. It does have some fantastic battle mechanics, but overall it's way too light-hearted, and the music is uninspired(only one tune managed to stick in my head!). I was hoping it would fill the void of not having a proper SMRPG sequel, but alas, guess I'll have to keep waiting for some sort of miracle. (Nintendo and Mistwalker team up? :p)

Say, Yakuza... since you seem like the only one on this boards who might play football games... Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 or FIFA 10? I haven't played either franchise in years(except for a bit of ProEvo 09), so I don't really know what to go for.

does either the PS3 or xbox360 allow the use of external hard drives for everything including games purchased from the online shop and installing games from a disc to the hard drive for faster loading?
AFAIK the 360 supports only official detachable hard-drives(which cost an eye and a leg) and licensed memory units. I'm not sure whether you can install 360 games into a memory unit, but you can download marketplace games into them.

Well, Fifa has improved ALOT but I find myself saying this every year... I think it has reached the point were you can buy either and expect to enjoy it yet miss things from the other one. Depends on what you've usually played in the past I'd say stick to that, there's little point into switching from one to the other if you're a PES or FIFA guy, the difference between them isn't big enough to be a worthy swap.
I play PES, for the record.
The PS3 allows anything, USB sticks, media storage drives, whatever... You cannot install downloadable games on anything other than the hard drive, and it puzzles me why anyone would want to do that.

SMRPG had a much darker mood, a much more epic storyline and fantastic music. Paper Mario had none of these... Not to mention SMRPG was a longer game.
Hell, just compare these tunes:

Anyone downloaded Crash Course, the new L4D DLC? is it something people should definitely buy, or not?
On the subject of L4D, what a shame I won't be able to get both L4D 2 and MW2 on their release dates, as L4D 2 is shaping up to be just about as fantastic as Modern Warfare 2 will be, i've watched many videos and heard many stuff about it and it will definitely be a huge improvement to Left 4 Dead.

Why would it let you on a Seagata or Western if it doesn't let you on anything else?
No.
edit: I guess you were asking about the first part. Yes, you can load content from any external harddrive. Content basically means savegames, pictures, music, video and not much more

I would say Fifa 10, I'm not into either enough to take a side, but Fifa has improved so much in the last years that, for the first time, PES is stuck playing catch-up
Also, real teams might only be a cosmetic thing, but its just nice

Well if you still play L4D and don't get all the PC version perks, it helps to freshen things up. The new dialogue is great and the more open design is kinda interesting. It's only half as long as a regular campaign though, so it's probably more fun on Versus when you don't want games to drag on through the night.

In exciting news (For me), Rocket Knight Adventures is getting a new game (http://kotaku.com/5374647/konami-revisits-rocket-knight-adventures-for-xbla-psn). And thankfully it'll be on Steam so I'll be able to play it.
The trailer makes me apprehensive. The actual gameplay looks very similar so hopefully it should be fun, but the graphics could definitely use some work. It's hard to make things out, which is especially bad for the characters who just don't stand out. And some things just look downright poor, particularly the interior areas and some of the effects. The style and charm was a big part of the game to me, and I'm worried that may have been sucked out.

never even heard of it. what is it?
Blizzard North guys, responsable for the Hellgate fiasco, were working on Mythos before they went bankrupt have been working on an Action Rpg for 11 months. It's back to their roots (Diablo series) for them. It's a single player game on the digital distribution price range (it's aviable on steam) with very interesting modding tools.
It's basic and simple hack and slash fun, runs on fairly old computers and looks stunning.
They're planning on making it a MMO on the long run (same engine, different game) which will be free to download and play, with the pay for exclsuive gadgets/items setup.
The game is your typical action rpg with lots of class customization and loot collection. The replayability comes from the ability for any user to create their own world with the mod tools, be it skills, maps, monsters AI, weapons, quests etc...

Torchlight seems to be pretty awesome, but if I'm going to buy it I'll need to find out if it actually runs on my laptop. Most modern games don't, but they say that they're designing it to run on old computers, so as long as it doesn't have any of that pixel-shading stuff (or it's easily disablable) then it should work with my integrated intel chipset (unfortunately, that's the only bad thing about my laptop, which has a 1.72GHz dual-core processer and 3Gig of RAM).

We tried to have a 12 man lan match tonight on Call of Duty 4. We had 3 PS3s, 20"+ monitors and games set up, and then found out you can have splitscreen OR lan.
That. is. retarded.
I really don't like that. Not because it's encouraging terrorism or any of that rubbish, but because it makes you follow completely contradictory actions. Put it this way: first, you have to play a terrorist doing terrorist stuff. Then, you have to play a guy preventing that stuff. And putting a stop to... yourself. It's like if there was one mission where you had to protect a VIP... and then half-way there, for no reason whatsoever, you had to shoot him.
In other words, storytelling in games is not the same as storytelling in other media. You can't have the player play the villain, the same way a film has a scene of the bad guy shooting the dog, and expect them to be fine and dandy with it all. They need to have an actual motive for what they're doing other than "to advance the game"!

if you ARE referencing CoD, that's only a tiny portion of the multiplayer. there are other, better, modes.
Plus no one needs a reason to have fun. This is why Carmageddon was actually a pretty popular game.

Which is to be a part of the singleplayer story.
By the time I actually posted it, Splinter had changed the immediate topic.
In real life, sometimes the good guys shoot the good guys.
They call it blue-on-blue.
They also call it the Iraq war. You know, where the good guys go in to save the day, kill all the good guys and rape their country, then leave saying "see, worked out in the end".
I believe, Plasma, your example of an escort mission in which you kill the VIP half way through is a metaphor alluding to such political hypocrisy.

October is pretty much over and still no Cavestory on the Wii. :(
While browsing the interent with boredum, I found out several rather interesting things about Scribblenauts.
First off, if you type in the word "VIRGIN" you get the same thing that you'd get if you typed the word "GAMER".
Second, the game responds, interestingly, to all of the following words:
SUCCUBUS
KEYBOARD CAT
RICKROLL (It spawns a funny human who dances a bit and then explodes!)
CEILING CAT
PHILOSORAPTOR
O RLY
GIANT ENEMY CRAB (Awesome!)
LOLWUT (It's a funny object because you can make almost anything wear it.)
EPIC FAIL (Spawns a nuke for some reason.)
ROFLCOPTER
MONORAIL CAT (Spawns a cat with no legs, it just slides on it's stomach.)
LONGCAT (If only you could make it wear a "LOLWUT", that would be hilarious.)
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US (Although I am familiar with the meme, I don't quite understand what this object is supposed to be.)
OVER NINE THOUSAND (*Monocle*)
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE (Spawns a human with a ¬_¬ face.)
NINJA CAT
OM NOM NOM NOM (...?)
LEEROY JENKINS (Appears to spawn an ordinary "KNIGHT".)
Thirdly, I find the words "TIME MACHINE", "TELEPORTER" and "LARGE HADRON COLLIDER" particularly interesting and worth trying out.
"YMIR", "CTHULU" and "FEEP" are pretty interesting creatures.
Finally, while doing puzzle levels, if you haven't worked it out already then "INVISIBILITY CLOAK" can ocassionally be a useful object.

Also a mouse/keyboard is infinitely better for FPS games than a console controller. Dunno if you could play console version with a usb mouse keyboard though?
There are games on PS3 which support that feature, I believe. Not being much of an FPS guy I don't know for sure, though.

to my knowledge you can, which is why I didn't mention that part. of course, if you CAN'T use a mouse/keyboard then to hell with that.
you know, i've watched a friend of mine use his controller to beat countless keyboard/mouse-ophiles in some gunning game on his PC.
I think the fact of the matter is that using a controller takes more skill but is equally viable if you've got said skill.
I also find it a whole lot more admirable. With a keyboard/mouse you're basically playing a point 'n' click with fancy 3D graphics... I mean reduce any FPS down and you just have a series of moving buttons you need to click.

And that's why I prefer games like TF2. They are simply a FPS... But you need MUCH more than fancy aim to win. Even if that's just retreating on time for a medic, luring people to a teammate's sentry, or simply knowing who to heal, or when to switch to the syringe gun.
Just aiming won't make you better here...
...Unless you are a sniper.

I've searched and heard rumours party chat is only disabled for "hardcore modes" most likely Hardcore search and destroy. It wouldn't make sense if they disable it in private matches and non hardcore matches since you can't really cheat.
And that's why I prefer games like TF2. They are simply a FPS... But you need MUCH more than fancy aim to win. Even if that's just retreating on time for a medic, luring people to a teammate's sentry, or simply knowing who to heal, or when to switch to the syringe gun.

...Unless you are a sniper.
And that's why I like City of Heroes. Aim is a statistic which you succumb to and can increase as time goes by. The game relies on knowing what to do and when, depending on your team and skillsets therein.
As you say, luring enemies round a corner and into a lethal situation, knowing who needs assistance, be it healing, taking some heat or resurrecting, balancing all your moves and recharge times to best tackle a situation, or simply knowing which bad guy to be slicing and dicing while your beefcake tanker holds the others.
It's brilliant but I concede that you are basically just pressing buttons in that, too. The difference is, they're not disguised as Nazis.
Oh, and I don't mean to say FPS games aren't valid games, nor that people who use a mouse and keyboard are lamers who have it easy (since everyone's in the same boat anyway and the better you are at using your tools the better you'll do in the game). What I'm saying is definitely that if you are better with a controller than everyone who's using a mouse and keyboard is, then a.) you ****ing rock, and b.) it's proof that controllers are as viable, if more challenging.
Well, that wasn't such a quick Quick Reply after all. I've even had to edit Alex's quote into the post so that it made sense.
I disagree. Good aim will only get you so far, to get really good it's all about controlling the map
Assuming two people are as good as each other at controlling the map and finish the game with equal kills or however these things are judged, I would say the one using the controller is better and proving my point.
Of course, I can't prove anything because this is all anecdotal. Not that that matters.

you know, i've watched a friend of mine use his controller to beat countless keyboard/mouse-ophiles in some gunning game on his PC.and I've played Shadowrun online against people playing the 360 version and dominated every server I played on just because I was able to react faster.
your point works in SOME games, yes, but not others. there will never be a game where you can twitch and kill as effectively with a controller as you can with a mouse. go to InstantAction.com and play Legions for a bit against some decent players and you'll see what I mean. controllers are just fine, sure, but they're simply too slow and inaccurate in a game where precision is required (admittedly, not that many FPS games actually DO require the level of precision I'm talking about)
And that's why I prefer games like TF2. They are simply a FPS... But you need MUCH more than fancy aim to win. Even if that's just retreating on time for a medic, luring people to a teammate's sentry, or simply knowing who to heal, or when to switch to the syringe gun.

...Unless you are a sniper.TF2 is a game of knowledge, not skill. it's why people who complain about pyros being easy annoy me so much. they're not easy, you just don't have to aim with them to be good. very very few pyros know how to strafe and dodge or when to hit and when to run.
I actually tend to suggest TF2 to new gamers wanting to get into FPSs. as many hardcore people as there are on TF2, the game is still all about knowledge, so newbies can survive there.

Aaaaaannnddd the demo of L4D 2 is now out for Xbox Live Gold users! i'm downloading it now. Its 1.69 GB so your in for a bit of a wait.
It takes place in one of the "parish" chapters.
Oh god, I love the Bill Hat in TF2 you get for pre-purchasing Left 4 Dead 2. Considering I never got any, only because recent events. (Halloween and now L4D2)
Besides that.. I really enjoy L4D2. Too bad I can't play the demo as much as I want, or any other game for that matter, because my power supply burnt down, and I'm using one with a lower Watt output.

...and now I've lost the very last bit of interest I had in this game. See, one thing I really liked in CoD4 was that the killstreak rewards were limited; sure, the whole killstreak reward system meant that the game make a dominating player even more dominating, but it did have its limits (at 7 kills). But now there's... this! A killstreak reward for about every kill! And a Win The Game button for a high number of kills! That's just ridiculously unbalanced, in every way!

To celebrate a year of LBP they are re-releasing the space suit costume for those of use who weren't around the first time. Plus to celebrate their birthday, they are also releasing a cake costume.

The old spacesuit was only out for the first week or so after the game was released, after that it was taken down. If you already have it, then it will always show up for you, so that you can re-download if you ever needed to, ie: new PS3.

Not every kill. Some kills don't count towards your kill streak (including the chopper gunner) so its likely going to be hard. Another thing to remember is that most will be locked for the time being, meaning you'll have to level up to certain levels to get the kill streak.
And another reminder, you won't be able to use all the kill streaks when you unlock them all. You'll have to choose from one you can get at 5 kills, 4 kills, 6 kills, 7 kills etc.
Another thing: Flying vehicles can be shot down with stinger missiles. As well as that, you can be killed controlling predator missiles, and some flying vehicles.
In other news, I tried the Left 4 Dead 2 demo after waiting for so long, and here's what I thought of it.
* Female boomers look weird.
* The melee weapons are cool, really like the machete. A pretty nice addition to the sequel.
* I liked the new weapons except the sniper rifles. Magnum is pretty good, as is an AK-47, and the Sub Machine Gun.
* New Infected are pretty good. The spitter will irritate the campers who hide in rooms during the "rescue" chapters, because they spit acid at you, and your health starts draining down unless you get out of the acid, which dissapears eventually. The charger is fast and although it can get killed easily, your likely going to be pinned down before you can kill it. As for the Jockey, it just pounces on you and steers you... but its not really annoying, though I guess it would make your life a living hell on expert. The witch also walks in daylight, but it still does its familiar sobbing so you know its there, you just don't know where.
* Boomer bile bombs are bombs you throw at infected, they have boomer bile inside and once you throw it at any infected, the infected are attracted to the vomit and start destroying the vomited on infected. I tried it on a Tank and it died pretty fast.
* You'll also find adrenaline in the demo, if you use it you can do things more quickly, such as shooting faster and walking faster... you can also find a defibrilator that revives dead survivors, haven't used it though since no survivor died.
Overall I really enjoyed the demo, think its a good improvement to the original sequel, L4D fans should love it.
The demo on Xbox Live has you playing 2 chapters of "The Parish" and you can also do the demo with friends on online co-op.

Yeah because teaming up against the streak dude is something beyond your realm of skillI agree with both of you on this one. it wouldn't really take much to team up and take down a guy before he gets 25 kills in a row. hell, that's usually enough to get the team most of the way to the total required kills for the whole GAME.
but it also rubs me wrong that there's even an option to press a win button. I don't care how good one player is, that player shouldn't be able to press a single button and end the game for everyone involved. doesn't matter how hard it is or how unlikely it is that it'll ever get used. it's just a lame thing to include, IMO.

There's still things to look forward to about Modern Warfare 2, like Spec Ops which should keep you busy for a while, and single player which looks awesome.
I doubt the multiplayer is ****ed up, but eh everyone will see on the Release date if it is or not.
Also, anyone beat COD 4/Trying to beat COD 4 on veteran?
I've beaten most missions, I just need to beat Heat which i've almost beat, Sins of the Father, All In which I haven't tried, Ultimatum which I haven't tried either, and No Fighting in the War Room which is by far the hardest and most frustrating mission to complete on veteran in the game. And Mile Fricking High Club.
I've heard that MW2 has no infinitely respawning enemies, so it may be easier to complete on Veteran.

Interesting, I found this out in the IGN topic where I seen the guy talk about the game. You can choose from 3 killstreaks from a list of 15 to have in your matches. This is the same ammount as COD 4, where you had UAV, Air Strike and Helicopter. Therefore, not horrendously overpowered as speculated before.

Have you ever borrowed a game from a friend? Or a book? Or a movie? Did you go to a shop and pay it after watching it?

Come to think of it, libraries.
Personally I find it hilarious and awesome that libraries are undercutting Blockbuster et al dramatically by charging, say, £1.50 to rent a DVD.

There has been a few cases where, yes, after playing a game I borrowed from a friend, I did go and buy it(Ones I can thin of now: Battlefront 2 and Starcraft). Borrowing often tends to be on a much smaller scale. That also means at least one person bought the said item, in this case, thats not true. With torrents there really isn't a way to tell how many people downloaded it, but everybody knows a lot of people download via torrents. The only pirating I've done is when I can't find I game I want anywhere, or if some idiot in eBay want $100 for it.

Movie rent places here are becoming into sort of clubs with really old movies and stuff you can't find in the internet. You go there, rent the movie and you have rooms to watch it, you can also read or order food.

MW2 is suddenly £30 on Amazon. Can't say no to that, pre-ordered today

I think the issue is that they keep the item instead of returning it.
Borrowing something implies the return of said item.

Just as I suspected, campaign missions of MW2 all over youtube.
Not watching them, though.

The problem is everyone has a CD/DVD Burner. You borrow the game, burn it and use a blocked CD-key to play the single player/offline multiplayer portion for free...
Also a few years back games didn't do much to stop people from using Hamachi + local LAN to play online with a blacklisted key either.
In unrelated matters: Dawn Of War 2. Best final level I have ever played in a game! EVER!
Multiplayer mode wasn't as fun as the original DoW. But that's really because it went for a notably different approach (for a start, it completely removed the whole thing of building a base). The nice thing is that, unlike nearly every sequel ever, DoW2 doesn't make the first one so horribly obsolete that, even with different levels, you can't even look at it!
Also, gamertag is MechPlasma! Since I have a proper Live account now, and not just for Viva Pinata (which I don't reccomend getting. Was rather boring. Got old fast)

The new Ratchet and Clank game is just brilliant.
The humour is as good as ever, better in some places in fact. Captain Qwark's lines especially are rather good, and poke at a few commonly-seen video game tropes (such as his own inability to walk across "six inches of deadly, crystal clear water").
The animation is fluid, the colours vivid but not clashing, and the sound quality is superb.
The game plays very well indeed, with smooth controls and sensible camera angles.
It does feel a bit odd playing as Ratchet without the benefits of Clank's help (boost jumps, etc) but when you get hold of the hoverboots they more than make up for it.
Clank's time-based puzzle sections begin rather easy, and pick up in complexity quite quickly. While I enjoy a good challenge, others may find the difficulty curve frustrating.
Thankfully, if you continously fail a puzzle, you get the option to skip the puzzle - but ultimately robbing you of the rich rewards you get from completing such tasks.
The new method of travelling between planets is really quite good - Ratchet can fly to any planet that is currently in the same sector that he is, and switch sectors on the map screen. There's plenty to do and see, with various small moons to hop onto and explore, and small quests to accomplish in space itself. The combat flows very well, with the left stick being used for thrust and steering, and the right stick for evasive maneuvers. Various upgrades to your ship can give you new abilities such as towing asteroids into enemies, or more powerful thrusters.
All in all, I'd say that if you enjoyed the other Ratchet games, this is an excellent contribution to the series, and is pleasantly different from the others. If you're new to the series, it's worth a shot picking this up, but the game doesn't have much in the way of introducing you to the characters - which may leave people confused.

In game chats (wormnet or similar) 14 year olds who play Xbox and call of duty (see: shadowmoon) enrage in crazy amounts trying to explain this to you (the 50% that realize 360º is a full circle), and it's really amusing.

What Akuryou said, i'm on an X360.
Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer maps are pretty big, and very detailed. Modern Warfare 2 actually has great looking graphics, compared to COD 4.
The guns are pretty nice from what i've saw so far, perks are pretty good too, but the death streak kills are a bit pointless. Such as painkiller. It sucks. Copycat is ok if you steal a good class.
Akimbo weapons are pretty cool, Riot Shields are very nice but you can't constantly depend on them, and there's loads of new attachments to unlock for your gun. Loads.
Multiplayer is also pretty fast paced compared to COD 4.
As for the campaign, so far i've played through 10 missions, most of them set in the US. Its pretty good though, especially Cliffhanger where you get to ride a snowmobile, the oilrig mission, The Gulag mission, all the missions are good so far. Veteran is also somewhat easier compared to COD 4. Its still tough, but a bit easier. I've only completed 1 mission on veteran, but i'm halfway through one, and so far its not being that bad.
The Favela missions on veteran however, are very hard.
Special Ops is hard. Its hard to complete some spec ops on regular, never mind veteran and hardened.
But its still fun. There's missions where you use sniper rifles to fend off waves of enemies, there's 2 snowmobile races, and also some where you've got to sneak past guards.
Modern Warfare 2 is the best COD game ever, really enjoying it.

This is Crack In Time, yes. It stays close to the original formula of the first two games.

Ahahahahaha.
In order to walk away, don't you need to first approach? don't people normally approach things while facing them? won't a 360º turn result in the person still facing what they approached? Unless you walk backwards you can't walk away without turning at any angle other then 360º.

Oh and about Yakuza's "trolling strategy". I mostly think the "it's fun to see them all trying to explain that" is just an excuse because the first guy that said the 360º turn stuff was idiot enough to thing that turning 360º would get you facing the opposite side

Yes this is true. But the airport mission is pretty shocking D:
I've managed to complete the story mode in about 5 hours... I feel cheated. It seemed much shorter than COD4 :(
Shadowmoon
12 Nov 2009, 22:55
Now try completing it on veteran. Also out of curiosity, have you tried any multiplayer, you won't feel cheated there.
Or alternatively, enjoy throwing your controller at the TV as you fight to get all stars in special ops..... I'm at 21 stars now and it's a tough mode. Anyone who can complete this on their own deserves loads of man points.
The airport scene didn't bother me... It is just a game, and i'd say I am mentally mature enough to play those games, even more gruesome than the airport mission however is the ending... awesome, but pretty gruesome.
I really enjoyed the campaign, plot= meh. missions= awesome. graphics= awesome. Length= meh.
Would have loved the campaign to be longer, but oh well there's Spec Ops.

You're the first person I've heard compare MW2 to WiiSports. This game is probably more popular already (MW2). If we understand the concept of popularity that is, and not just by sales figures influenced by bundle packs.

I know of plenty of gamers who'll play it still from time to time, and the non-gamers are sure to make up a good chunk of deficit. the level of excitement between the two would be vastly different, though, of course. I just can't imagine anyone saying "SWEET! now I get to run home and play some wii sports! WOOHOO!"
and either way I think his point was more corporate anyway. reviewers seem to compare every game these days with wii sports.
I just can't imagine anyone saying "SWEET! now I get to run home and play some wii sports! WOOHOO!"
This is what I'm saying. Different level of pleasure using a product impacts popularity. It also affects the level of knowledge the end user has on the product. "Yes I know Wii Sports, it's that Tennis game for the Nintendos" - this is ineffective popularity
