Got out of 13 1/2 hours of maths lectures because I've done A level maths. I pity the poor people who have to sit through those extra lectures tomorrow who will be in there from 9.15 to 1.15 and then back in at 2.15 to 4.15:p

You know, for those people who keep various versions of one file (one with lineart, one with coloring, one with celshaded coloring, etc.) and need to keep track of it all, and add notes to it to share to people like "OMG I FORGOT A LINE HERE FIX IT!!!1".

At least, that's what I made out. :p

Couldn't you just save a couple different versions of the document, like heart_1.psd, heart_2.psd, or whatever? When I installed my copy of CS2, it just seemed to be taking up extra memory and cluttering my systray, so I got rid of it.

The average user probably won't need it, but the Creative Suite isn't designed specifically for average users. :p

Now the only question is how many people "we" is.
Twenty people each paying £2 and only winning £6.16 wouldn't really be that great.

I liked Escape Velocity Nova a lot. Briefly.

It's when you're trying to run an ordinary, harmless mission in a little ship that you spent 4 years' savings on, and then you're set upon by an entire space pirate fleet, and the Confederation (or whatever the Nova equivalent was) won't even lift a finger to help, that it kinda stops being fun.

I also wasn't about to pay money for it.

The Polaris mission gets you the best spacecrafts, though, especially when you want to shuttle the goods around. Those things have massive cargo space, and once you get a whole fleet going, you can make millions on a single shipment. Then you can terrify the government and whatnot.

I'm back from my trip to Florida, and that trip changed my life for the good.
I went to a "Mind of a Millionaire" convention intensive. 9am to 11pm for 3 days. I have a new perception of money now, as well as life. I can honestly say its the best thing I've experienced in my life. Not to mention I met people who already have millions of dollars, and they're advice on getting it.
I'm now signing up to become a distributer for a health drink called Xango, have ideas for my own business that I'll be starting soon, and at the moment I'm waiting for that job at S.I.T. to call me. I'm going to get the job. 99% sure anyways.
Not only that but I'm accually in a good mood all the time now. For about 4 days so far and thats a record for me.
From here on out lifes gonna be good...

Last night, I went out for my mate Al's birthday.

Al being Al, he invited everyone in the world. I expect you heard. Then everyone in the world turned up. I expect I saw some of you there. Al being Al, Al arrived late.

One of the people in the world is a beautiful blonde teacher (she is blonde; she doesn't only teach blonde people in some bizzare Nazi school) who I chatted to for a long while. Despite Al's best efforts (all his stories end in me looking like a pervert -- not least because people go out of the way to make me look like a pervert. After Adam was on University Challengs someone, I think it was Al, decided it would be amusing to tell Jeremy Paxman that I enjoyed looking at breasts. He decided that that was perfectly reasonable and why should that be a problem. He is my favorute celebrity for that reason alone. Where the hell was I? Oh yes, despite Al's best efforts) she seemed to like me. So we went on to another bar and a while later I got talking to her again, in which time she taught me all about blast furnaces, in some of the most bizarre flirting I have ever heard. And we went on to another bar and...

One thing I should mention here is that when Al invites the entire population of the world and possibly some other worlds he has discovered, he invites them all to the smallest pubs in Leeds. We went to Whitelock's (which is slightly smaller than Team17's conference room), The Ship (which is about the size of Team17's conference table), The Angel (which is a bit larger), and lastly we went to North Bar, which is the size of a large pack of lagers. The North Bar sells only strange cherry lagers, and charges a small country for each one. I bought a pint of fairly harmless but slightly fruity beer in exchange for Angola. I never used Angola anyway.

Halfway through this lager, it occured to me that Al was not there. And nor were Angela or hew housemate Jo, which was a problem, because Jo was a beautiful blonde teacher who I feel sure I mentioned earlier.

So we finished our drinks and left, and Adam phoned Al to find out what had happened. He'd not been let in so he'd gone nextdoor, to a place called Sela, which is both pronounced, and located in a, cellar. Adam and Adam couldn't be bothered going there, but I did, on the off chance that Jo had done. She had.

And, after I spent the Ivory Coast on a pint of surprisingly normal lager, we got talking again. And we started leaning in to talk rather closer than was strictly necessary to hear each other. And I put my arm around her, and she didn't seem to mind so I left it there. So I asked her out.

Whenever I used to ask girls out they would always have boyfriends. I could take this to mean they lied, but instead I chose to assume it simply meant I had good taste. But that has stopped. For a while, they left the country. Wendy had to go back to China, because of something about a visa, and Naomi (I never find anyone with normal names) went to Italy.

Now, it seems they are invariably just getting out of long term relationships.

I hate ex-boyfriends. All of you. Including me.

"All of you?" What am I saying, there are probably only about three of you here.

Edit: It's probably not clear, but I'm putting it in the positive events thread anyway, because whatever else happened, I asked out a sodding gorgeous girl and she probably would have said yes had it been a fortnight later. And she lives with a good friend of mine, so there's even still hope. But I'm just happy that I asked her. I don't do that enough. Also because after she said no, in one of the most polite and protracted rejections I've ever had, she gave me detailed feedback on how well I'd done, and the results were good. It was like a class. I bet she's a great teacher. And anything ambiguous is probably positive in my book.

Edit2: Also because posting it in the Negative Events thread would somewhat have given away the ending.

It involves a lot of slag(s).

Edit: the really strange thing is that this isn't the first set of detailed feedback I've ever had. Honest to God this really happened.

Had someone changed the homepage URL on that browser to it? That's a little odd.

No, there's a homepage that all students see, and it has a few random semi-relevant links. One said "student diaries", and I clicked it, and out of the 64 thousand students there it showed me the one I'd been chatting to the previous evening's blog.

And I know it was definitely her, because only one in 50,000 people have her same medical condition.

The reason her blog was linked from the main homepage was because of that same condition -- so the odds of all these events occuring are either lower, or they're one in three point two billion; roughly the same odds as Dave Gorman finding some guy on Google who then directs him to his friend Dave Gorman's website by searching for two random words, or, the odds of flipping 32 coins at once and having them all come up heads.

How mad is that?

If we factor in the fact that her online diary only lasted two weeks and happened to include the party I met har at, I can get the odds up to almost one in five hundred billion.

Quite some time ago, I won a TV in a school drawing- the pulling the numbers out of the hat kind.
Granted, it's a mono TV with only a single RFU port (or something... I really don't know what it is) in the back (not even a headphone jack!). Still, nothing like winning something to boost ones confidence.
...except that it turned out my mom entered my name into the drawing, and I had no idea I was entered in anything. When I walked out and everyone was looking at me and saying my name I initially thought "I did something wrong... oh god."

Last Monday, or two days ago, I bought some hardware and an Antect Sonata II computer case to put it in.

2*1Gb of Corsair DDR2 667Mhz RAM
An Intel Core 2 Duo processor (e6400)

Tomorrow the motherboard I ordered should arive, and as soon as the shop restocks (most likely friday), I be getting a Nvidia 8800GTX card

Since I got a job, the bar for what I consider to be expensive, has been raised somewhat. Hehu.

I'm feeling just that littlest spark of initiative to actually start doing something with my life.
That's nice, when you do figure it out, give me some tips because I have no initiative at all. I feel that as long as I don't make any choices in my life I won't make the wrong one. Failsafe *thumbsup*

You realise that there aren't currently any games that actually get an fps boost with that card over the 7000 range cards right?

Xinos
10 Jan 2007, 23:01
What, so games will run worse? =P
FPS is not all I care about, I want to run everthing on high settings. Unreal Tournament 2007 should be out in a month or so, crysis in either Q2 or Q3.

My GPU fan has compleatly stopped on my current (and old) Radeon 9800 Pro card, so I get crazy graphic glitches when it overheats (or is too cold even)

http://www.planet-eggplant.com/wakaba/src/1163763290080.jpg

And since I am buying a new graphics card, it's just silly to not get a DX10 compatible one.
And I am getting the GTX card at the price commoners pay for the GTS card thanks to not having to pay tax. *ninja*

The sucky part is that I have to buy a compleatly new computer because I have to upgrade everything. AGP motherboard needs to be swapped for a PCI-Express one, the chipset on my processor is now obsolote aswell and won't fit any good motherboards with PCI-E, and it's single core so it could use a boost I guess. Good thing I've workeded up the money or I would be in a position of trouble and despiration ;P

Nah, they need a quite warm climate.
Alaska is probably too cold the whole year round, so they maybe only live in heated human houses there.

My new computer is up and running. And I have conducted a very scientific study.

Rules a about building a computer:
It will Alwase take atleast 1 more day than you expected (from the point when you got all hardware and start building) No less than 3 times will you feel totally hopeless and depressed as unexpected events, like things not fitting correctly or a vital cable is too short, which make further progression impossible. Somehow, in the end, your computer will magically work thanks too some cunning plan.

Theese rules apply everytime someone builds a computer, no exceptions!

Mine works now and I can run my windows without reinstalling it on the new system with the new motherboard and everything. I am so releaved. Frankly I was rather shocked when the computer started after having built, unbuilt, moved around betwheen cases several times..

And it's so silent :3

Three computers actually. (I don't have that many rl friends :p) I had to pack my computer up though to bring it to the LAN party, since I don't have a laptop, which I found is a real pain when you live on the 4th floor with no elevator. But hey, I wasn't gonna let that stop me!

It was pretty fun. Besides getting the LAN all set up and working (which took a few hours, and apparently wireless isn't so good for old games) we played Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge, Age of Mythology and Worms Armageddon. Yes, we also noticed how we only seem to play old games, but fun nontheless! :)

Things to note:
- Playing as "free for all" quickly leads to the "everyone just hits on me" syndrome, so we ended up playing against the AI to avoid further arguments.
- The RA2YR AI always aims for the northest player first.
- The AI difficulty in AoM varies wildly from Easy (so easy that the AI won't make one single attempt to even try to attack you, it'll just defend itself and wait to be pummeled) and Moderate (so "moderate" that the AI will quickly build up a huge army and pummel you before you even make it to the Heroic Age)

Well this has been going on for a little bit now...but I and a girl are on the edge of getting into a serious relationship. Not that one girl who played me at work. This is the girl that I'm sure most of you can relate to. You know, that one that you've always liked, pictured yourself with, and most likely got rejected by in some way by. We've always kept in touch and stuff, usually with a long period of time in between. However, last time we went out I kinda brought everything out in the open, and we got to talking. I usually help her out with decisions in her life and help her understand the world around her. Yeah, I know...it's probably kind of hard for you to picture me as a wise person that someone would want to talk to. But this time I uncovered feelings between us. We both feel that we love eachother as really good friends, which is great because that is the best way to build up a long lasting relationship. And we both agreed on throwing all the rules out of the window, dealing with boy/girlfriend stuff and say whatever happens between us, happens . While being straight forward about everything. This is great because no secrets, hidden feelings, accusations, and ackwardness excists anymore or will be allowed between us.

So yeah, that puts me in a pretty good mood, even if it's only a prospect for me that might happen. Normaly I really don't go telling stuff like this in this way*, but if I express what I feel in the Negitive Events thread, I might aswell express this.

I have imported the Japanese Rhythm Tengoku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhythm_Tengoku), which was always fun on the emulator and is superior in just about all aspects with an actual cartridge. Crystal clear sound through headphones, no delay in button input. (although it's been a bit challenging to adapt to this. :p)

Might as well transplant my little Avry rant into this thread now, because I feel so much more at ease about the whole thing now. I get a very reassuring feeling of finality from this situation, and a long, confusing, painful and disgustingly drawn-out era has finally drawn to a close. I feel like I've been stupidly blind this whole time, clinging onto the idea that one can find love on the internets, and giving Avry many more chances than she really deserved. I've been caught in this endless loop of wasted time, emotion and life; jogging in place in the same damn spot I should've left nearly three years ago. I can put her behind me now and actually look forward for a change. Into the real world, where maybe, some day, maybe even soon, something could happen that would actually mean something to me, instead of dragging along on a faint hope that something could change and reanimate a dead relationship.

I gave her one more chance because I thought it would be fair to her, but really, what the hell is fair? Why should I bother giving any more of my life to the one who promised me everything I could ever want and then stabbed me and a least 3 other guys in the backs? Thinking back on it now, it doesn't really depress me as much as it amazes me; how she could continue her same old **** to me now, talking down at me like she's so superior, somehow finding the nerve to complain to me that the last of my co-victims no longer seems to love her for some bizarre reason, testing me with pop-quizzes with no answers, sitting like a rock and expecting me to carry the conversation all the time. I hardly realized just how sick I was of her, and now I'm finally free. Hardly any of the other Internet relationship crap seems to matter anymore now, either. It's a closed book. I'm tired of looking backwards. It's about time I turned around.

There's still my job, but other than that, I've achieved a peace of mind I haven't known in quite some time.

Well, I feel I've managed to get far closer to Katie than previously. I dunno, she's been far sweeter to me lately and stuff. I feel like she might actually almost like me, but then that she also still likes Aaron and all. I've been noticing that it's more him going over to where she is rather than her going to where he is. And when he hugged her today, she gave me this look, which seemed to say something, but then I don't know if I'm just taking things how I want to take them, which is probably true. A lot.

I don't exactly know how positive my situation is, but it's a lot better than it was... So here I am.

You're a much stronger person than I.Mmh, thanks, but I'm still not quite ready to consider myself a strong person. In fact, that's my next step, I think -- I need to master myself. In self-discipline and self-motivation kind of ways, I suppose. Things like getting out of bed on time, maybe providing lunch for myself instead of having to drive half my lunch break away to get a sandwich, etc.; and maybe, ideally, putting actual work into getting some online education and finding a real job instead of this second-shift hellhole. Much as I'd love to do all this, it's been pretty tough to even find the right foot so far. Bleh.

Do have to give myself a little credit, though, for I feel I've become quite good friends with a Canadian girl who goes by a few different names to include Chely and Ruka, and have successfully capped off anything that started approaching "feelings." This is good because nobody is troubled by any such thing and I've gained a really good friend out of it, whereas I pretty much trashed whatever would-be friendship I could've had with Pi.

Also, good luck with your thing, SP. It's still a little troubling that you... well, let's not mince words, you're pretty well obsessed, but at least something good could still possibly come out of it if you persist.

Speaking of that, last year at the institute of chemistry at my university here in Graz, a suspicious bag with a box and electronics inside was found in a hallway.
It caused a bomb alarm and a lockdown for half of the day.

It turned out someone plugged a computer into one of the ethernet sockets and somehow hacked into the campus network.
Don't know what the reason was, but my guesses are a student leeching warez via the fast uni backbone.

Stealing the internets! :D

I have the collectors edition of Zim. It's not a plushie, it's plastic and ~7cm tall.

It's just the three normal DVDs, plus the plastic Gir, plus an extras DVD (Most of the music, along with a DVD music player thing, and some other stuff, it's not that great), plus of course the Zim house as a box for all four DVDs (And the roof opens out, which is where Gir is).

It wasn't actually a proper collectors edition, they sold the box seperately (You got the box, plus the extras DVD and Gir, but none of the three episode DVDs), but lots of companies sell all four together. You might be able to find just the house box on its own somewhere, and I imagine it wouldn't be too expensive.

p.s. The Zim DVD is the first ever DVD I've heard where the commentary is actually good. It's awesome in places, infact.
