me and a group of friends went and subjected ourselves to Speed Racer earlier today. the plot was ACTUALLY pretty good considering it was speed racer. so long as you accept that all the world's issues can be solved by winning a grand prix, you can actually make complete sense of the plot of the show...I was shocked!
but on a more amusing note the racing was GOD ****ING AWEFUL!! the races were so horribly coreographed and put together that it made the rest of the movie almost annoying to watch because of how painfully hilarious the race scenes were.
as a whole, though, it was a supremely entertaining movie. I'm not sure if it was intentionally as horribly hilarious as it was, but intentional or not it trumps Forbidden Kingdom for most hilariously bad movie of the year :p
WARNING: Please wear precautionary sun glasses while viewing this movie.
no, I'm not kidding. neither me nor any of my friends saw the last 30 seconds of the final race because it was too painful to keep your eyes open.

If I didn't know anyone who worked there (which is becoming increasingly true) I would have said that yes, Disney have altogether too many resources and need taking down a peg or two with their brainless and not-funny cartoons, irritating-voiced and totally incoherent characters and their insipid and awful attempts to claim the word "magical" for their own.

I named a cat once "Taparrosca", which is the word for plastic bottle caps in spanish(the ones that you screw/unscrew off). :p
It was a street cat and it was quite wary of people. A bit of an odd cat since it wouldn't run away, but if you tried to pet him he would try to slash your hand with his paw. I used to have fun hiding and scaring him from behind. :p
Welp, I've pretty much decided to settle on Sable at this particular moment, with her dozing off in my lap. :3

sorry to interrupt but I went to the movies again last night :D
this week's travesty? Indiana Jones.
I really wasn't planning to go see the movie because it was obviously going to be bad, and I wasn't disappointed on that front at all.
oddly enough, though, it was actually a pretty good movie. the plot made sense the characters were pretty much fine (even indy being old wasn't all that bad to me), and in general I was ready to accept it as just another generally alright movie. sure, it had a large share of illogical events (like the magnetic skull that seemed to not always be magnetic), but as a whole it was a fairly decent movie. I remained with that opinion up until the point where the space aliens used their mothership to teleport el dorado into another dimension....and no, I couldn't have made that up if I tried :p it was greatness :D

today was a fairly good day.
first off, I got my computer case in and I love it. I hooked everything up into the new case and it, somehow, managed to ACTUALLY work the FIRST time! *prepares for the end of the universe* well, technically the first time I hadn't plugged in the 24-pin molex plug completely, so I had to adjust it, but that was the only hitch.
secondly, I got to see Boston and Styx when they checked into my hotel today for the concert they're going to be giving tomorrow night. didn't really get to talk to them hardly at all, but they actually seemed like rather cool guys (unlike Earth, Wind, & God.....whom we of the Coushatta Casino Resort hate with the undying passion of 1000 suns).

I'm famous! Or at least it would seem my electric balalaika is?
So you may or may not know about my page for the first off electric balalaika I made: http://brian.kentosh.com/index.php?pg=balalaika I was looking through my stats and looked at the referrers to my site just to see.
http://forums.rgc.ro/index.php?s=&showtopic=22384&view=findpost&p=236053 - Does anyone speak Romanian?...

http://thatweirdo7.deviantart.com/art/its-electric-88711484 - Finally something in English...:p
But woo! I have random people referencing my balalaika! I also am the first result for either a text or image search for "electric balalaika".:) I feel so...famous... I know that that's not actually too many people or views or anything, but I just find it kinda exciting to see people finding and posting about what I've made. Pickups are self-wound with the Stewart-Macdonald Humbucker Pickup Kit (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Pickups:_Kits/Humbucker_Kit.html).
Temolo is a Gotoh knockoff (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar_tremolos/Gotoh_Traditional_Tremolo_for_Strat.html) because I didn't particularly feel like paying more for the other ones on that site, although looking back I could have bought a Fender one for $18 more at Guitar Center...
I pretty much bought everything I used at that site. They pretty much have everything there you'd need to make a guitar. Although next time I'll probably buy my wood from http://www.lmii.com/ because they have a much better selection. I'm thinking of making a bass-guitar, but I'm not sure yet.

Gee.
Find something to severely and sustainably disrupt the relation to her boyfriend. After all, he already has another girlfriend and probably won't be unhappy anyway. Maybe he just needs a slight push to finally let go of her.
That said, only do this if you know that she likes or loves you, at least equally than she does the her current boyfriend.
If this is no solution or it doesn't work out, you at least have another geek friend to play computer games with.

She lives in San Diego but commutes to LA for a Directing class she's taking.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Does none of the stuff you listed set off the "bad sign" alarm in your head?
My experience is that after being single a while the "bad sign" alarm tends to be much quieter than the "who cares - this is great" parade.

my recommendation in this situation depends on just how hot she is
i.e. you should post some pictures so that we can all get a handle on the situation

As much as I'd love to, I probably shouldn't. She is (arguably) recognisable.

Hey, if she's in to all that, being recognisable isn't such a bad thing.
Hmm, which present Tinseltown starlet has a bisexual boyfriend?

Oh, and here's the unfinished version of the cover for Jump Leads book #1:

I'm off to Gothenburg for the weekend with a couple of classmates for an art class. It's this weekend and the next, but I'm not sure I'm going both times due to train ticket costs..
Anyway, adventure time!

I am currently eating my second attempt at cooking a quesadilla. in the first one I followed the ridiculously simple instructions to the letter and came out with a mediocre meal in serious need of flavor. this time around I added my own spiced and cooked it slightly different. the result was fscking awesome! :)
I now know how to make bad ass quesadillas in less than 20 minutes or so. that's most assuredly good news in my book :D

A-level results!
AAAB - Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry! I got a B in Chemistry despite an average grade of 56% this year. Not that I needed it. I don't even know why I took it.
So I'm definitely off to Southampton this September :D (MEng Electronic Engineering)

Congratulations!
Hope it goes well for you at uni.
And after repeatedly trying to get onto the College Network:
Computing: B
Maths: A
Further Maths: A
Chemistry: A
Physics: A
Looking at the exam results, I was only a couple marks off an A in computing. 78% in both exams and 82% in the Coursework.
Not that I really care, as I've dropped computing.

I'm getting a new computer :D.
It's another laptop, but one specifically advertised as a gaming laptop (yes, I know, contradiction in terms, but I'm still adamant it can be done), an Acer Aspire 6920G - dual-core 2GHz, 4 gigs of RAM, 250GB hard drive and 512MB graphics.
The nice part is that my old Dell Inspiron still works (unlike last time when the Evesham's screen just went kaput), so I can keep it handy for low key stuff like... well... everything that won't run on Vista and still needs XP to run.

Why on Earth would you need that much RAM, and aside from the amount of graphics memory, what is the graphics processor?

Buy a proper desktop computer! For one thing, they won't lead to a reduced sperm count. :p

Buy a proper desktop computer! For one thing, they won't lead to a reduced sperm count. I don't really have the room for a desktop. I also can't take a desktop downstairs so I can chat and watch cricket/watch something else/sit outside in the sun/wash dishes/play on my wii/etc. at the same time. I can't take a desktop on holiday with me. I can't take it to Uni with me either, although I'll probably take my current machine with me to Uni on a daily basis. I'll take my chances with the sperm count :p.

I recently upgraded my laptop to 4GB from 1GB. Made all the difference in the world - Vista used to take about 3 minutes to shut down. It was outrageous - I'd never seen anything like that. All this last year I'd have to click the shut down button and then brush my teeth and then close the screen before I went to bed.
Upgraded the ram and shrunk the page file. new shut down time? 15 seconds.:D I don't fully understand why, but I'm not complaining. Granted I'm only actually getting 3.28GB because I'm on 32-bit Vista, but it's good enough.
As for the sperm count - get a laptop cooling pad. This (http://www.targus.com/us/product_Details.asp?SKU=pa248u) is the one I scored for $10, although you get what you pay for - it's loud.:-/ It might get a little bulky depending on the size of your laptop. My laptop is pretty small, so the pad has a wider base than the computer which makes it fit more nicely on the lap. If you have a big laptop as "gaming" laptops generally are it might get a little awkward. But then you can always use a desk.
(I got mine not for the sperm count but because my computer overheats - my 2.0GHz core 2 duo is too hot for the little fan that fits in my 12.1" chassis)
Which makes me realize I practically have Paul's cpu and ram combo, except that my 80GB hdd and Intel integrated video card make his a big winner.:p

As it happens, I bought a cooling pad recently, although it's not really something I can use when I have my laptop on my lap. My laptop spends most of its time on my desk though, so I dunno.

Surely 2GB is enough? And I take it the version of Vista coming with Paul's new laptop will be able to address as much as 4?
I recommend a flat, hard surface like a book when using your notebook on anything like your lap or bedsheets.

I recommend a flat, hard surface like a book when using your notebook on anything like your lap or bedsheets.Well, my old machine was 2GB I think (unless it was 1GB), and it had a lot of memory problems (including BSoDs) when, e.g., running GIMP.
