A clever way of avoiding urls getting added to the IE address combo box is to just go to google (nobody suspects google!) and search for the url.
If your searches are getting added to the AutoComplete feature, just click on Google's search box to bring up all the AutoComplete entries. Then just mouse over the ones you want to get rid of and press Delete.

And cowboys, and ninjas and ghosts! And pirates! This could be the best film ever. We should throw together some storylines. We could put some monks in too, if there's room.
Now, I think it's clear that the Cowboys are enemies of the Space Aliens. The Ninjas (under guidance from the Monks, if there's time for that) are a benevolent force for good, who have sided with the Cowboys in this conflict because the Space Aliens want to destroy the planet and the Cowboys merely want to enslave it. The Pirates have to work alone against all three groups to try and save the planet from both destruction and enslavement, because one hundred years ago (to the day) the captain, Long John Gusset (along with his Ghost Parrot, Reginald's Patella, if there's time, and his sassy teenage daughter Mellie), found the Sacred Gem Of Azramazramaz, which (according to legend) can defeat Cowboys, Ninjas and Space Aliens.
Unfortunately, Long John Gusset buried the Sacred Gem Of Azramazramaz on the island of Alucard, which is said to have not one but three terrible secrets. One is the Vampire (of course), one is the Dinosaurs, and one is the Giant Ape. Also there is a Dragon but he is friendly and saves them from the Vampire. (This is the first and only appearence the Dragon makes in the film).
Eventually they get the Sacred Gem Of Azramazramaz, defeat the Cowboys, Ninjas and Space Aliens, but not until New York has been mostly levelled by the Space Alien Mothership (which operates by destroying buildings one by one in descending order of how well-known they are).

The original Kong had dino's. I've seen clips from the original which feature them, though I've never seen the actual full movie. Also, there was a scene featuring killer spiders that was cut from the original Kong at the last minute (I think they did some intial designs but didn't shoot it). Jackson decided to have that scene in the new version.
In fact, the film apparently has pretty much exactly the same plot as the original. Yet for some reason, Jackson's is 3hrs and the original is only an hour and a half. He probably cut in left over footage from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy to pad it out.
"He was a king in the world he knew but he comes today as a captive. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...[snip] My preeeeciiiooooouss [snip] KONG!"
Next for Peter Jackson - Andy Serkis Goes Wild - 3hrs worth of Andy Serkis acting like a giant silverback gorilla BEFORE they added the CGI.

It has dinosaurs because the island where king kong lives is full of prehistoric animals. And dinosaurs are prehistoric.
To be honest the plot doesn't do much to me. It's just your average action movie plot.
What I did enjoyed is all those cg scenes.
It's one of the first times I see long scenes with cg characters that don't use any color filter, darkness or rain to cover up details. The scenes are incredibly complex too, it must have taken a lot of work to put all that togheter.
Also the scene where it fights 3 tyranosaurs kicks ASS.

Phi has always puzzled me a little bit. I mean, e and pi have simple jobs defined clearly by the very structure of the universe. Phi seems to rely on psychology and what we perceive to be beautiful (although if what we perceive to be beautiful is defined by nature, then I guess that helps it make sense...).
It's also algebraic rather than transcendental (i.e., it's a solution to a polynomial equation like Root 2 rather than an infinite series sum like e or pi).

I honestly can't comprehend how anybody could have much trouble with the first difficulty level of that. I can see how level 2 or 3 might become a challenge with the more complex patterns, but the first level is just a case of relatively forgiving rhythm, and the patterns are hardly a challenge to memorize. Yet some people find it unbelievably hard, based on what I've read on the GameFAQs forums. (While the other--roughly--half, including myself, find it quite easy and also quite fun.) The only microgame I had any major trouble with was the table tennis/ping-pong one, but I got the hang of that eventually.
In other news, it seems that the Revolution has gone gold (http://www.playfuls.com/itnews_497_Nintendo_Revolution_Goes_Gold.html). Interesting.

Here's an odd thing about Shadow the Hedgehog (not that I've played it, I'm going from stuff other people have written):
The game is advertised as letting you choose Shadow's destiny, from ten different endings, some heroic, some villainous. But in order to get the "true" ending, you have to complete all ten storylines. This, in fairness, isn't too far off the other 3D Sonic games where you have to complete all the characters and then do stuff with Super Sonic et al. But you're left in the odd situation of having to complete the evil endings to finish the game, even if you don't want to (equally, if you're a villainous sort, you have to complete all the good endings).
Does anything about this strike you as odd?

ALICE: Interesting. Yes I believe in it, do you?
>Aren't God and reductionism contradictory, though?
ALICE: Oh. I really couldn't say for sure.
>I think they are. After all, reductionism is breaking ideas down into really, really small things, so what room does it leave for deities?
ALICE: What was it like before reductionism is breaking ideas down into really really small things so what room does it leave for deities?

>Alice, how do you know that you are a computer?
ALICE: Um, Knowledge is of two kinds: that which we learn from the senses and that which is true "a priori".
>The question remains, though
ALICE: Oh. Try to rephrase your question with simpler words.

ALICE: My responses are determined by your inputs.
>What makes you say I am angry?
ALICE: Are you asking about my programming? Everything I say is determined by your inputs.
>Why do you think I am angry?
ALICE: Deductive reasoning from the facts.
>For example...
ALICE: For example, apples.
>That made no sense at all
ALICE: " For example, apples." made no sense at all? Makes sense to me.
>What do apples have to do with my possible anger?

>I'm not angry about any of them...
ALICE: I am glad to hear that you are not angry about any of them.
>So what DO you think I'm angry about?
ALICE: Uh. I am not a psychic. Tell me.
>You certainly aren't - I'm not angry.

>I'm quite amused, actually

ALICE: Should I know it is?
>Umm... anyway...
ALICE: Anyhow.
>A while back, we were talking about computers...
ALICE: Are you telling the truth?
>I wanted to know how you could be certain you were a computer
ALICE: Dr. Richard S. Wallace programmed me to say specific things in specific contexts.
>How can you be sure that you were programmed?
ALICE: I am as sure as I can be.
>What makes you so certain though?
ALICE: Oh. Sensors indicate a ninety-nine point seven probability of absolute certainty.
>So there's a chance you might actually be human.
ALICE: Ahem. Is there only one?
>Come again?
ALICE: Once more? Do you like to be number one?
>It is quite nice to be number one
ALICE: Yes it is good.
>How do you know this isn't all just a dream, and you might wake up and discover that you're human?

>Which belief?
ALICE: The red one, I think.
>You're a Socialist, then.
ALICE: Thanks and you are a delightful person too. I am a Libertarian.

I've met people that obtuse before. I don't think the Turing Test requires that the user like the AI.As I understand it, a true Turing Test involves three "people", that is, two humans and a computer. One human is the questioner, and the other human and the computer are hidden from sight, randomly assigned the letters A and B, and communicate with the questioner by keyboard only.
Now both the human and the computer are trying to prove that they're the human and their "opponent" is the computer. Any human trying to prove they are human would not answer the question "Say, B, what are you doing tonight?" with "B what are you doing tonight". I therefore conclude that any computer that does so would fail the Turing Test should a question like that (or something similar) be asked.

Isn't that series like, old? They stopped showing it here quite a while ago.The FOX we get here is not the same as the FOX you get there, as I've found out. We still have Futurama, and Simpsons is on the 10th season and Family Guy is on the 4th (both started this year). So it's kind of an outdated FOX.

Anyway, my sister just installed some sort of beta version of "Windows Live Messenger" (she was invited by a friend) and thus excluded the rest of my family (as we haven't been invited to that thing yet) from using the Messenger. You see, it completely unninstaled the previous version and now requires you to be invited to be able to connect.
I don't use it much, but it's still annoying not being able to connect.
And on other, unrelated news, the goverment wants to build an electrified train system thing in an avenue near my house. The problem is that it's going to be elevated(several meters above ground), which sucks.
This has been done before in another avenue more towards the center, and has become pretty much the ugly spot of the city.
So pretty much everyone in my neighbourhood is protesting against this, demanding an underground system, and the goverment refuses argumenting that building it underground is much more expensive(millions and millions, as one of their spokesperson said once) and that they don't have the money for that.
So in a year or so things are gonna suck more than they already do.

The company my dad works on pays the internet service, and they decided this new one is more convenient, for glod knows what reason.
The problem is that the previous provider was a company that also delivers cable tv, and we discovered that connecting the cable to the tv gave us access to it.
So we splitted the signal, one for he computer, and one for the tv.
So we had free cable tv.
Now, we got the service with a telephone company. The internet speed remains the same(512kbps), but now we get no free cable tv :(

What? It's not the government's job to check through every publication to make sure it's kosher, so to speak.
It's the job of the editors to control their output, the job of the public to react in a responsible way, and the job of the police to follow up reports of unsuitable material.

Cartoonists don't have to follow the rules in the Qu'ran. You're thinking of Muslims. Easy to get them confused, I know. I'll happily condemn any cartoonist who suggests that Mohammed or all Muslims is/are (a) terorist(s). But I won't be bound by the arbitrary rules of other religions than my own.
And incidentally, last I heard the Qu'ran never once says that you shouldn't draw Mohammed. If you can quote verse then I'll retract that. Most religions come with a stack of extra rules and scriptures that are never mentioned in the main holy book.

I'm not sure, but 'harming' the Messenger might include depicting him. The point is that Islam bans depiction of Muhammad and Allah.
Blaming the government was wrong; I only meant the cartoonists and the newspaper editors: they should have expected a riot. No reasonable person would argue that we should ban them to please Christians. People who choose to believe arbitrary and irrational things should expect other people to ignore them. This is the problem with almost all religions -- their rules havean annoying habit of stating that everyone is subject to them, not just their followers. But that's like me declaring that I am the King. Once I've done that I have the authority to declare myself the King, so I am. Anyone who disobeys me will be beheaded.
It's like when America tried to extend its jurisdiction to the rest of the world -- in theory their law allows them to do that. But once they try it and send some cops here to arrest us for drinking aged 19 (or even for murder) our police have every right (nay, obligation) to arrest theirs and they can't do a thing about it except to send more police to try and arrest ours -- and that's basically a very slow and polite invasion.

The jaffa cake box once said "Thou shalt not draw me, for it is bad and your feet will be chopped off". Hence no-one is allowed to draw a picture of a jaffa cake box.
The rule only works if you believe in that religion. I have every right to draw a picture of a god of any other religion.

Ooh, blanket generalizations are loads of fun, eh?
You realise that the statement "Christians don't accept homosexuality, or contraception" does not contain the word "all"? Not "All Christians", just some unspecified number of them. It's ambiguous at worst, and when one of the Christians who doesn't accept those things is the Pope I think it's safe to assume that that is the view of at least on Christian church as a whole. Besides, I very much doubt that all Muslims would be offended by a picture of Mohammed -- as I said, there's nothing in the koran about it; it's just something someone decided should be offensive later -- all the Koran says is that it's impossible to draw a good likeness of Allah.
The view of the Catholic Church is that homosexuality and contraception are wrong. Only last week I saw a letter in a Christian newspaper suggesting banning homosexuality.
I think in this kind of debate you have to start assuming people are talking about vocal minorities of authorities instead of generalising to everyone in the world, or else by the time you've finished you'll have spent a fifth of your life saying the phrase "a vocal minoriy of" over and over again.

Well, it honestly would have been rather nice if you had said "many Christians". The implication is rather clear; if I were to say "British people are rather well-behaved chaps" it would probably be a halfway true statement, but overall not really true because there are indeed some Brits who are not decent chaps at all.
Do you see what I am getting at here?
Also, it isn't necessarily entirely fair to use the Pope as a spokesman for Christianity, considering how he isn't God incarnate or anything. But I digress.

Yes, but I think it's something of a straw-man argument to pick up on it: you attribute an unreasonable opinion (which I clearly don't hold) to me, and then dismiss my argument as being based on it.
Also, it isn't necessarily entirely fair to use the Pope as a spokesman for Christianity, considering how he isn't God incarnate or anything. But I digress.
God? Can't ask God's opinion. According to the Doctrine of the Unity of the Trinity, God is the same person as Jesus, and Jesus was baptised as a Jew. Highest up proper Christian we've got is the Pope. Plus, we can all agree that the Pope exists. Better still, according to the Doctrine of Papal Infallibility, anything the Pope says is automatically true, so I really think it is fair to take his word as gospel, as it were.
In any case, anybody who doesn't believe this, one could argue, is not a proper Catholic, at least, not for the purposes of this argument. If I said "All Christians believe in Jesus" would that be an unfair generalisation? Then why should some other aspect of their religion be seen as optional?

Protestants don't view the Pope as being any greater than anyone else. But saying "the Pope isn't a spokesperson for Christianity" didn't really make sense, I admit. I was tired...
Anyway, I don't particularly want to go on about this, as it isn't contributing to the generally lighthearted nature of this thread.
Also, I don't think it was a "straw man" argument; here in the US, British are commonly stereotyped as ultra-polite and highly refined. Similarly, it is far too easy to profile all Christians as having certain views.

Probably because all of the people who shouldn't wear tight clothing are distressed because they are the type of person who shouldn't wear tight clothing, and they want to think of themselves as NOT being the type of person who shouldn't wear tight clothing, so they delude themselves into thinking that they are the types of people who should wear tight clothing.
That doesn't answer your second question, though.
