No action for a while.. As a fan of BoggyB, if this game is still in production.. A good suggestion I can think of, is putting Boggy B in as an unlockable character, or a good guy gone "Darksider". ;]]] Just to spice things up, of course..

Ya, It's still in production. I should be putting up more sreenshots soon.
And in this game, BoggyB is the name that refers to the plain character.

You are complicating too much with the rope. I sugges you make the worm climb up the rope (which involves new worm animation) and you reach the wanted altitude you could command the worm to select a point (if its possible) with "Q" while hanging on the rope. The worm will jump of the rope on the selected destination... However, the rope doesnt mean anything to me. The best way to travel in 3D worms is via jetpack.

a spontanous invention of my own unless one of u ownage pplz want to completly make the skillzest wep for me. which would be: Worm takes out a shoe, opens the back, talks into it then smacks the worm XD. if anyone want to mkae that then i'd rather have that but i'm still happy with the pants in the gun thing.

And Ghost, how about a shoe that has a sharp metal coming out of the front that injects poison into the body...Lol the S.P.E.C.T.R.E. trademark weapon, if not Blofeld's cat.

OK Plasma, you're doing well in the game so far (I've played the demo), but I have a few questions:

1. Why is there no water?

2. Why does it take so long to jump?

3. Do you think a character editor would be good? It works something like this:

In the folder of WF, there could be another folder called "chardesigner". In this, is several folders: Head, hands, body, tail and eyes. (the parts of a worm) in each folder, is the default of each one so you can make a copy then edit them to make custom parts, then in Worms Fusion.gmd you can put them together with a character maker thingy! :p

Gravy, it's a demo. Tone down the critism. It's not done. Also, Plasma would need to have a registered version of GM to import graphics and such. Also, this game uses sprites not ragdolls so what you just said is pretty close to impossible unless Plasma makes an object parent to, say, the Worm's head that makes a simple hat. But then again, this could be exploited. Someone can have a huge black box and blind all the players. To avoid this, plasma would need an "if else" code to check the size. I think that, too, requires a registered version.

To add a little more challenge than having a regular platformer. It'll be a smaller delay in the full game though.

Just thinking, I might add in that character creator instead of the character select. The biggest things are:
1: The worm sprites would have to be removed from the hats.
2: There wouldn't be weapons specific to each character.
I don't mind because I feel it'll be easier to remove the worm sprites than having to create unique weapons for each character (which was also horribly delaying me). And I'll still have the ability to choose specific weapon replacements anyway.

I think I'll do that when I get my Registered GameMaker6 installed onto my laptop.

There would be a folder named "characters" and inside would be folders keeping body parts. Such as hats, tail, etc, etc.. so they're moddable. There would also be a "characters.cfg" in the main Characters folder, not inside one of the actual sprite folders. inside the cfg, you would have names of each character and the folder in which the sprites are. In GM, you could read the cfg file (It shouldn't take long, for me at least) and add characters accordingly. Also, there could be a sprite named portrait inside the sprite folder that would, respectevly, replace some empty portrais (prefarably invisible) in the character selection.

This addition would be great for modders to release their sigworm as a playable character in the game and it could be easily done. Everytime you add a worm, you add him/her in the cfg file and voila! Playable characters!

oh yeah, one more thing
a system where you get to choose your type of weapon (e.g. game&watch bazooka, standard homing missile, etc.)

1: I wasn't gonna have characters aside from in the story directly.
2: You really underestimated the amount of frames that goes into making a character.

By the way, does anyone recall if I ever mentioned the name of the .gm6 file for the AI? I highly doubt I did, but I can't remember where I put it.
It's on my family computer (I got a new laptop) so I'll try using the search function.

Ok then, time for an update:
1: I've nearly finished the advanced AI, I just need to add it to the game.
2: The menu will now be text buttons instead of those pictures, and will have an AI roaming in the backround.
3: I've gone ahead with the character create thing, and it works perfectly so far (I have one hat completely finished, and am currently doing the second).
4: Faraz, I counted 475 frames per accessory. Somehow, I don't think people are gonna want to create their own accessories so much that I can't add their animations into the full game myself.
5: Anyone have the soundtrack to any of the Super Mario Brothers games? Considering the amount of sprite editing I've got ahead of me, I need more songs to play.

All animations are are named as: Initials of character, Animation type, Direction.
Eg: GLBazR, PStandL, BGSmrtbL.
Not only does it make the animations easy to sort, but it also allows me to duplicate a code but for a different accessory very easily, thanks to GMs ability to replace all selected words in a text with another word.

I don't think Game Maker sucks at all. Ok, so it's not really want you want to use to create tools and the such like, but for 2D and isometric games it's pretty good. It's also nice and easy for beginners to coding to understand, as it does some things for you, such as highscore tables and all that. Yes, you're not going to make a big proffesional game with it, but I'm currently using it, and for what I want my game to be like it's more than adequate.

If you think it sucks, go to www.gamemaker.nl and see some examples made with it. Hard Hat 2 for example, is great- it's a lot like Megaman. There are even more games on the forum!

(back on topic)

OK, I've learnt to sprite reasonably well now (16-bit, 32-bit and all that) , so if you need and new worms costumes, Plasma, just ask!

Ooh... Somewhere between 8 and 10 mb? But I didn't count the memory taken up by the campaign so far; I kept it separately to the current Gamemaker file. I plan that, if the AI is good enough, that I might put the campaign off 'till a later version.

Anyway, i am making a worms game too! :D Its not done, but its very much playable and has a lot of features. I'll be sure to post it here some time or another. I sent a copy to Martyn Brown, after he gave me some info on copyright stuff, so he has already played it, actually. :p

...yeah, pretty much. The game, and code, just got too messy in the end.
Although, as I do have a proper AI done and working, I might end up re-starting it, knowing what mistakes I made, so that I can do it again properly.
