Dunno exactly where Zeor's been over the past day and a half (and I'm not about to pry, since it is just winding down from Christmas), but I talked to him briefly before he vanished and yeah, he got today off... because he was laid off.
Ouch. :(

Whoa... I hope he's alright. He's been through a lot this year. I know what it's like to lose your job, though (three times in the one year! 2004 sucks!) so Zero, fi you're reading this, next time you see me on MSN give me a holler.
It kinda pails in comparisson, but no one got me WFUS for Christmas. I'm gonig to buy it. Right now.
Yeah, I am quite disappointed over that, mainly because I'll have no means of contacting all the people I met while I was there. Great folks.
I guess 2004 has gotten out of the truck it ran me over with, and kicked me in the shins before it departs.
2004 seemed to spend its entire life practising and building up for the grand finale - killing 50000 people around the indian ocean.

just when you think it can't get any worse...
this by far dwarfs anything seen on this forum. lost jobs, lost girlfriends, bad grades, family deaths (i dunno if there were any on this forum), sickness, etc. do not compare to this.

family deaths (i dunno if there were any on this forum)
There were, and I think that's harsh. It's disgusting, it's selfish, and it's sick, but it's human nature - I'd rather another 100,000 innocent people I don't know died than lose someone close to me.
Feel free to correct me, if someone honestly can't say the same thing.

your post
Ever have someone close to you pass away? I'm saying this in my own perspective since I've lost 4 close people and they were family members too, I guess this post could go towards Newt X as well, for having to say such a thing of what he said. And this is not a comparison of what thing is the worst though out this forum and year, nothing can compare nor you can't to then losing a family member.
Betong is completely right here.
He didn't say anything that was hurtful, he just said that the loss of 100,000 lives was worse than the loss of one life.
How can you possibly be offended by that? Perhaps you should try explaining it to all those around the indian ocean.
AndrewTaylor

How can you possibly be offended by that? Perhaps you should try explaining it to all those around the indian ocean.
Oh, don't be like that. All Betong meant (as I read it, at least) was that humans are built a certain way — that, ultimately, most people here are not directly affected by the disaster, and it's intrinsic to who we are that we'd be far happier if a million people we'd never met were killed than if one person we loved died. Compared to how I'd feel if one of my friends had died I honestly don't care about this. It's terrible; it's tragic, and I feel horrible saying that, but it's true. (I was going to say that obviously there's almost nobody selfish enough that given a direct choice between one person they love dying and a million strangers they'd actually choose the latter, but I'm honestly not sure that's true. I don't think I could make that call. I hope I could, but I think it would ultimately come down to the fact I couldn't live with myself if I picked option two. I'm not sure I could live with myself if I picked option one, come to that.)
When you say "perhaps you should try explaining it to all those around the indian ocean" that's personalising the issue to an extreme, which changes everything. Which is exactly what Betong was saying — right now it's impersonal and it's hard to feel as strongly about things that aren't really a part of your life. Perhaps you should go to the Indian Ocean and explain why you still have spare cash lying around you haven't donated to the cause. Presumably you consider that more important than them rebuilding their lives. See, you just can't survive thinking that way.
I'm with Betong on this one. I know it sucks and I know people are horrible but it does and we are. We can't care about everything as much as we should because we'd go totally mad if we did.
Obviously a disaster like this one is worse, but I think the sensitive thing to do is not draw the comparison in the first place. Both are tragic; that's all that really needs to be said.
Well I can't say I disagree with any of that, but I think it was out of order to slate Newt X for his post. Does anyone really think Newt X was trying to offend people?
jeeze sorry man. i wasn't trying to offend anyone. thanks, run.
i've lost family members too, and i know it hurts. it hurts a lot.
and i agree. if someone asked me to choose whether i would have, say, my best friend die or 100,000 people die in some country far away, my first instinct would be to have the 100,000 die, and when i think about that choice, i'm disgusted in myself, and i feel like kicking myself in the balls. what i would be doing is making life easier for myself which, like you said, is human nature. but you have to realize that the 100,000 deaths hurt a lot more people. and although your life is hard when you lose someone close to you, you'd be making hundreds of thousands of lives harder the other way. i hope you at least see where i'm coming from, even if you disagree.
i'm not saying i'm crushed by the deaths from the tsunami. in fact, i feel almost no emotion for it, which sickens me, but....**** it. look, i don't think it's harsh at all to say that this disaster shrimps a family death. yes, emotionally, a person is crushed by a family death, i realize that, but sometimes emotions aren't all you should listen to.

I've decided to contribute money to http://www.oxfam.ca, and http://www.care.ca in those of time and need for support and help
Hope my money does more for them then me
Even though I'm greedy for money, I feel sad for those who are in poverty, just thinking of the less fortunate makes me want to make an effort in trying to make them have a good life
I'm going to be doing my best to not think of myself most or even at times and try to help kids and families who have got a bleak future and lives
I’ve lost family members too, and i know it hurts. it hurts a lot.
Sorry, I did not know...but you can see why I was so over-dramatic and personal to what you've said
Mentioning family passing away, this whole Earthquake situation, and in general lives take away is really sad and depressing here, I know this is a negative thread and all, but let us try and hope that 2005 will bring us all positive events and things
Sorry, I did not know...but you can see why I was so over-dramatic and personal to what you've said

It appears that there were more negative events than positive in 2004. At least this thread is longer than the other.
Nah, it's just that Bad News makes news.
me and ellen split. i'm not crushed by it, although i wish it hadn't happened. i saw it coming as well. apparantly she didn't think our personalities worked for a boyfriend girlfriend relationship as well as they did for the 10 years when we were just friends. i'm not mad at her or anything like that (she was afraid i would be). in fact, i hesitate to say it, but it's almost a relief. surely someone here at least can understand what i'm saying. it's like the relationship takes so much work, and involves lots of stress, and then it ends, and you're not tied down anymore, and even though it hurts, it's like a weight lifted off your shoulders.
the good news is that we both promised eachother that we'd never stop being friends, no matter what happens to us.

Nah, it's just that Bad News makes news.
I disagree.
It was 2004.
i felt like a rat in a cage when i was in my house, so i took an hour long walk, during the course of which i called ellen from a cell phone to get the last of my thoughts out (she had asked for my opinion on our relationship, and in the state that i was in, all i could get out was "it's been a nice 3 months"). it turns out we actually agree on most of the things we talked about. i told her that i think it was good for us that we were gf/bf for a while, but also that it's good that it's over. i also realized (and pointed out to her) that the timing on the breakup was pretty good in terms of cushioning the blow, because of the tsunami disaster. i thought to myself, "160,000 people just died on the other side of the planet, and i'm complaining because my girlfriend broke up with me?"
basically, we ended on the best possible terms and i actually feel pretty good right now.

NTL have, once again, screwed my wages up. I'm still being Emergency Taxed despite the fact that they have my P45 and i've spoken to the Inland Revenue at least 3 times, and they've done somethign called "Salary Recover" and have taken £37.20 of my £40 commision. I am not happy.
I disagree.
It was 2004.
Seconded .
We should make a master list of bad things that have happened to us in 2004, but it would probably fill most conventional-sized hard drives.

I just finished changing my strings so then i removed the leftovers at the head of the guitar. When i came to the thinnest E-string i managed to cut the string it self off instead of the leftovers!! :o
Did you have any extra length on the other end, or did you have to get a new string?
AndrewTaylor
27 Jan 2005, 09:58
I don't think you can just use the other end of a guitar string. One end has a bulb on to stop it sliding through the guitar. With it being stretched in the machine heads already I can only assume a new string would be in order.

It's quite simple: tie the broken ends together and reattach it like it was never broken.;)
I wonder what that'd sound like...

I never changed strings on an electric guitar, but on acoustic the strings are just tied at both ends.

I don't know; I've only seen electrics being strung! Of course, it could very easily just depend on the guitar, since I know for a fact you can be electric/acoustic strings that fit both. Kjatte! Help us!

I don't think they're flexible enough to tie tightly enough that they wouldn't unfurl while you were tuning it... so it would sound like this:
Edit: If you can tie them that way then I suppose it'd be easily modellable if you were to treat the knot as a point mass. That way you could work out the same wave equation with the linear density (mass/distance) nonuniform. It'd have to be pulled much tighter to get the same note (and that might take the knot through the machinehead and then your note would be just as wrong but in the other direction), and it wouldn't be the same intensity of sound... It's be a mess, man. Get a new string and stom being such a skinflint. Also it'd be impossible to finger anyway. Not least because that string's frets would be in all different places to the others.

In acoustic you can either tie both ends, or use a small ball thingie as a holder, like in an electric guitar
Something like this:
You probably can, but it won't work well with an electric!

Well, I don't have to, but it helps. It should be provided. I showed them, though. You know those underlay things that say "SAMPLE" across stuff? I made one that said "BORING" and plastered it across all the notes. Oh, yes indeed.
Here, we have a Physics society that have "taken over control" of the distribution of past exam papers. The actual Physics department don't bother any more, because the Physics society distribute them.
And you know what? Those past exam papers - each one, I might add, solutions not provided - cost £3.00 from the Physics society. £2.60 even if you're a member. That's truly extortionate.

It is, at that. We have to pay a token fee for them, but that's really all it is. Doesn't put anyone off.
I got hold of the Leeds University exam script Word template the other day... Boy is that in the wrong thread...
I reckon I could scan past exams papers myself and compete by selling them off cheaply. I guess it depends who owns the copyright, if there is one...
Things are getting very tense around the household, what with my still lacking of job-ly activities. I want to tell my mother how I was under the impression that "we" meant "you and me," which would essentailly be what we'd call "us," which is generally a cooperative sort of thing, so I'm not sure when that stopped happening, and also that it's hard to get around town and look for a job when somebody, who was in this particular case in fact my mother, had been using the car for the past two weeks, but Gord knows I'm not an adult and that nothing I say makes any sense, so I might as well save my breath.
Edit: The signifigance of this is the very real possibility that it could very abruptly cost me quite a long stretch of computer time.

On of my best friends just got quite injured playing ice hockey yesterday. He might have to get surgery on the back of his knee. Not sure yet though. If he does have to get surgery, he will have to give up hockey for the remainder of the season, which would suck because their team is second in state. I sure hope he'll be alright.

Zero, I can offer much advice in the way of Job Hunting.
The first thing, obviously, is to browse the local papers. That is how I found my job at NTL. If you get a weekly or daily local paper, check the Job Section on the day it's delivered - leaving it late means that the position may be filled (particularly if it's for a smaller company).
Find out if there are any local Employment Agencies in your area and register with them. Not sure how it works in the States but they will usually find a job for you based on the information you give them when you sign up. You still have to do an Interview etc., but if you're also looking through the papers and in other places it can virtually double the chances of finding a job. Here in the UK Agencies usually start you off with Temp positions, but depending on the company they may take you on full time.
Search for your local area using online job search sites. This will usually give you a list of jobs you are not qualified to fill, such a Teaching Aids or Brain Surgeons. At the very least bookmark some of these sites and keep them out on your desktop, that way if your parents happen to spot your compute on while you're out of the room they can see that you are actively searching for a job (even if you choose not to use these services).
Ask a friend! Friends can be fantastic resources if they are working already. They may be able to help you find employment in the place they work.
So there you go. If a talentless hack such as myself can find a job, then I'm sure someone with your smarts can find one too.
As it happens, I'm also looking for a job, but I need a part time one. I can easily get a job at a fast food place accross the street and be getting payed $6 an hour, but I feel extremely overqualified for it, and it gives me absolutly no experience. Since I have no immediate need for income, it feels hardly worth it. Finding the job that I actualy am qualified for, on the other hand, proves to be extremely difficult. The only thing that was even remotly close was a database administrator position, which would have suited me well, except the fact that it was at a hospital meant that they required previous job experience in that area. And since I've never worked for a company in a capacity of a database administrator, I'm out of luck.
I'm throwing out applications to all the noteworthy and a few un-noteworthy places around, even one back at Toys R Us just in case, so I'm keeping the area's few employment agencies on the backburner for now. I'm sure I could get into one of them if none of these other places take me.
More than anything else, I'm hoping Blockbuster will take me. :p

I agree with your opinion. To an extent, "LOL" gets used way too much (the word actually infuriates my friend Westy). However it is a nice, quick way of expressing your... laughter. Thing.
It gets overused, but it is also necessary. You can't see the other person's expressions when you are on-line, and since we are used to either seing facial expressions or changes in tones of voice, we do need some sort of a reaction from another person in conversation. "lol" is a good way to communicate that little part. Smilies are another. I wonder why people still choose to use text in conversations, though. Almost every messenger has a VoIP capability, but I have not yet ran into anyone using it. I have my headset ready to go any time any one wants to actualy talk over the messenger, but so far it has been only collecting dust.

In the last house I lived in, my bedroom's closet was a sort of big hole in the wall with a sliding door nailed to it. And somehow, there was a tiny little hole inside the walls of that closet that led to a beehive stuck on the outside of the house. There were many a night I would wake up with one of the suckers buzzing around.
I don't know which was worse, the bee-closet, or the 2-inch spiders that tended to pop up from time to time.

I was making a hole in the wall and I hit a water tube(or however you call it),
So there was like water comming out and stuff, and we had to close the main water source.
Now the only source of water we have is a hose connected to the water measuring thing that is outside our house.
I was doing the hole by request btw, so it's not my fault, and there was no way I could know there was a water tube in that particular part of the wall.
edit: and I've had many encounters with big ugly bugs, and I usually end up staring at them for long periods of time until I find something to hit it with. I worked for the Inland Revenue for two weeks. I learned the following skills:
Lying on my timesheet
Sitting in a chair
Explaining that I didn't know how to help them and that if you'd care to take a seat that someone who really worked there you would be along shortly
Carbon paper
I taught them how to use the clipboard. (On their computers; not an actual clipboard.) Until I arrived they'd been using the notepaper-alt-tab-keyboard method to transfer numbers between programmes.
And none of what we did seemed to matter a damn. I spent a day doing filing for forms about the previous tax year. I spent a lot of time inputing things from paper into a computer, and I spent a couple of days shadowing a man whose job it was to fix people's self-assessment forms that they'd messed up. I fail to see how any of it was terribly productive. There must be a second office somewhere that does the real work. That's all I can think of to assume.
I owe the state 20-some bucks.
AndrewTaylor
14 Apr 2005, 21:24
Surely that will be paid for by the 60-some they owe you in the other thread?
Yup.
Yup yup yup.

I've decided, after all this time, that Lizzy was probably right and I should ask Kim out. After all, asking Lizzy out would be something of a non-starter.
And I have no problem talking to girls, least of all Kim, so I'll get right on that, right after she gets back from CHINA. In AUGUST.
EDIT: Unless, of course, I meet someone else before then. I like to imagine that could happen given four months.
I've been planning for a while to ask out someone when she returns from Europe, and I haven't met anyone else yet. Just 2 weeks left now, so it has been experimentally shown that you can't meet someone else in 4 months while waiting for someone to return from a distant country. If you think that is weird logic, wait for AndrewTaylor's explanation of what his post about asking someone out doing in NEGATIVE Events & Occurences.
AndrewTaylor

She's in China.
China. That's the country, in case your physics degree neglected to mention it, which is thousands of miles away from my house, even if you choose to measure my family home which is slightly nearer and assuming you're allowed to bore directly through the Earth's mantle. Of course, I'm not allowed to do that, so I'd need some kind of flying machine. Since those are generally expensive and carry at least small risk of death, I'd rather not use two or more of them every time I want to see my girlfriend, assuming I even want to go to a country I probably couldn't survive in on my own. Lastly, Kim is not the kind of person I'd instinctively expect to be able to keep up a long,-long,-long-distance relationship like that for four months, so asking her out now doesn't seem to be an option. That would just stress her out and give her altogether too much time to think about it. So explain how this could possibly be a "positive" event.
A "positive" event would be, say, "I have worked out how to do Derren Brown style magic tricks" or "Hooray I'm graduating in June".
Also, lest we forget, she might very well say "no". And, God help me if I do end up waiting four months to hear that. I'll probably get very angry at Lizzy for suggesting the whole stupid thing in the first place, realise that I am physically incapable of staying angry at her, and displace the anger onto her boyfriend, and he gets enough of that anyway.
Is that weird enough for you? Well, is it?
It still isn't a negative event. It is hardly even an event.
And no, it isn't weird for me. I have been in exactly the same situation since January. And I do mean exactly the same. Seriously, you've just posted a nice summary of everything that has been going through my head. Replace 'Kim' with 'Lisa', 'China' with 'Switzerland', 'Lizzy' with 'Jennifer', and it might have been my post.

I just meant, was the reasoning weird, like you said it would be.
It is an event, really, though. This time last week I was perfectly happy for Kim to stay in China for a few months, then come back and resume the purely platonic gibberish she's been shouting for the last five years I've known her. Then I changed my mind. That constitutes an Occurence, in my book.

Anyone remember the Friends Season 1 Cliffhanger where Chandler accidentally spills to Rachel that Ross is madly in love with her, but he's away at an Archaelogical dig in China? And when Rachel goes to meet him at the airport, it fades out on her holding some flowers, waiting for Ross to get off the plane?
Remember the Friends Season 2 opener which had Ross getting off of the plane with July, an old College friend who was in charge of the dig, who he started dating after they met at the dig?
Remember where the dig was?
Good luck, Andrew!
And now recall whom Ross chose after he found out. Don't worry, Andrew.

That swear-word that means human feces, sorry to hear that. If you need to chat, you know where I am.
Well, at least it was an honest breakup this time instead of a cataclysmic upheaval of my entire life, and was even on good terms, but...
You see, at this point, I'm rather certain that I was dating the real person on whom Kyira was based. So... Yeah.
Nevertheless, I was never really convinced before of it. Regardless of how much evidence to the contrary I was shown, I was always wary of her... That didn't help much. Plus, she and I just really differed on so many levels... Our conversations always dried very quickly.
The number one reason for the final failure of the relationship was a guy named [withheld.] Withheld was somebody she actually knew personally, who, like, lived around her. A classmate of hers. She was probably roughly as fond of him as she was of me. Now I was a little leery about this, but I tried not to think much of it.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, her computer caught some manner of ugly virus. I knew right off the bat that the lengthy seperation we were due for would not improve things. My feeling was confirmed when I recieved a report that she was found sitting on Withheld's lap (and I am pleased to report that Withheld promptly recieved a swift slug to the eye from the reporter.)
Just last night... I think. Yeah, it was. ...She finally returned. Basically, it was a really tough decision, but... I decided she would be better off with him. I could've kept her if I wanted, I'm sure of it, but I let her go for her sake... He can offer her so much more than I can. They obviously get along very well... And he's someone she can actually see and talk to, and enjoy herself with, and actually BE with... Whereas when she's with me, she logs onto a computer and stares at the screen for an hour every night trying to think of something to say or do... The odds of our actually meeting in person within any sort of reasonable time frame were awful... I just plain really didn't deserve her. She was torn between us, and I wanted to make the problem easier by eliminating the lesser of the candidates for her...
I'm sure she'll be happy with him... We agreed to be friends, and surely will still chat often... But... yeah... We're pretty much off.
Even though she's still there, I've lost her.
It runs deeper than that, though... You see, I've lost my very reason to live. Not my will, but my reason.
Ever since I got this picture of this girl... It's been the very centerpoint of my driving force. That driving force was wounded almost fatally on May 31st, 2004, but I learned that it wasn't lost... Now it is. She's well and officially gone. And... I'm left feeling very empty.
I'm only occasionally sad, though... Most of the time I'm just very numb. I feel like my capacity for emotion is damaged. I wonder if I even can love anymore.
I suppose some day another special someone will come along... Maybe someone a little more meant for me... Someone with a little more in common.
I'm not about to go out searching now, though... I need a break.

Being noble and rational about these things is indeed a bit of a bugger, as I'm well aware myself. Hopefully, time will take on its role as a great healer, but the thing about that is a) you have no idea how long it'll take to heal, and b) it doesn't help how you feel right now.

It is the dream of most (if not all) Gamers to find a girl who not only doesn't mind their partner playing Videogames, but likes to join in, too. As I type this, Amy is sat across from me playing on the PS2*. Earlier today we went into GameStation and bought some SNES Games**. Also, Amy loves playing Dr Mario, is starting Neverwinter Nights, is considering getting started on City of Heroes, and likes Multiplayer WarioWare. And Baldur's Gate. She also kicked my **** at House Of The Dead III in the arcade, and afterwards we were forced to buy a LightGun and two games.
So there we go.

The whole world is largely devoid of female computer-game nerds. There are a few, but they're very rare. Female geeks are commonplace, but they're generally harder to spot. A lot of the clues that a guy is a geek tend to apply to a lot of girls anyway, and in any case female geeks tend to be slightly less geeky than their male counterparts.

If your life is controlled by higher beings, you should assume they have your best interests at heart. Either that or they're very, very twisted.
What would you have done if you had nearly unlimited power? Honestly, now. So what do you expect from some other "higher beings"?

Except with infinite power also comes a nearly geological time scale, so who's to say that messing with Daniel's life isn't just a random thing of the century for some "higher" being? Of course, that is all just speculation. I know a few people very closely who think that they are "cursed" when in reality they just keep looking at every glass as half-empety, even when it is nearly full.

Well, I just got hit in the head by a beamer* in the nets and I now have a cut ear and a splitting headache. To make things worse, it was the first ball I faced and I'd been looking forward to some batting practice.
* A beamer being when the ball fails to bounce and reaches the batsman at a decidely uncomfortable height. It seems that the ball was a particularly slippy one, and when the bowler tried to impart spin on it, it came out all wrong.
Today, in Zero's Keen Observations:

When I was young, I was playing tag at my sister's birthday party, and me and another girl hit each other resulting in her took getting shoved in my forehead. It didn't get stuck thankfully, but I still have scar from about 8 years ago. I didn't even get stiches. It did end the party though.:p

I have a small scar on my forehead from falling down the stairs when I was 2, and a scar on my eyebrow from where a Bigger Kid ran into me and knocked me down pretty hard when I was in Year 3. My eyebrow doesn't grow there so it looks kind of odd.

Not exactly fluffy-cuddly, but probably not hard enough to seriously hurt if it hit you.

I was once hit directly in the face (left cheek area if I recall correctly) with a rock. Thrown by a classmate standing roughly 3 feet in front of me. And he got away with it un-reprimanded.
And people wonder why I switched to correspondence...
Not exactly fluffy-cuddly, but probably not hard enough to seriously hurt if it hit you.
It can still injure you if thrown hard enough, but not nearly as bad as a baseball or cricket ball can. "Soft" is a very relative term in this case.
SupSuper

so basically, it's not soft, but in relative terms, it's softer than all the other ball varieties.

Tennis Balls are decidedly softer, but due to the fact that they travel at higher velocities, getting hit by a tennis ball could actually hurt more.

I have only three scars, and one of those is rubbish and almost faded, one is the BCG jab, and one is from a chunk of glass. The short version of that story is "I put my hand through a window", but the more accurate version is "My idiot brother put a window around my hand". Oddly enough, windows have something of a habit of breaking around me. I don't know my own strength.

But if you're doing say, Further Maths and Physics at A-Level then it's less of a diversion and more of a "don't waste two hours with having to go to and from school and a 1 hour lunchbreak - Just revise SOLID" thing. I mean, I do far more work on my study leave than at school, because I have to really. Oh, and don't forget that the exams that Star Worms is taking are damn important assuming he wants to go to Uni.

I had something like that once, but it was before I went to bed. The pain got worse and worse and eventually I was lying on the floor rolling about in insane agonising pain, and I couldn't do anything. I got dragged into the car and taken to casualty, and it turns out that the disc of cartilage in my left shoulder had slipped. That was awesome, where by awesome I mean DEAR GOD THE PAIN.

Ouch!
The most intense pain I've ever had is where I've pulled a muscle in my leg in bed. AAARGGH I always feel like i want to die right there and then. It dies down after about ten minutes (each minute feeling like an aeon) but a shadow of the pain lasts for about two days and I can't walk properly. This has happened two or three times.
A slightly less painful occurance of this, but presumably due to similar causes, is when i pull a muscle in my foot, and for about ten minutes or so my toe is stuck at a funny angle while the muscle stays permanently tensed. It's tolerable though.
And finally, I sometimes pull a muscle in my jaw when yawning. Talking becomes painful. Again, it's gone after ten minutes though.
The leg is the worse one.

I've experienced the leg and muscle things, but mine doesn't last as long - When it's in my foot, I use my hand to bend my toes from pointing as far up as possible down to as far down as possible and although it hurts, once I've done that once or twice the muscle stops being stupid. With the leg I bend my leg around the knee repeatedly and it seems to work. So I've not had it as bad as you, but I know the pain and if you have it for ten minutes that's just pure evil.

Since we're speaking of this
One time in a hotel, as I was sleeping, woke up to move to the side
And that's when it happened
My right arm felt a tingle, followed by stiffness. Tried to get up but felt like impossible due to the whole arm feeling like it weighed a ton. So for the whole night I laid on the bed looking at the ceiling and got no sleep.
The morning, I was suppose to come into work, but couldn't. So as I stayed home, it was hard to make coffee, get cereal and whatnot, I had to hold my arm, cause if it dropped there would be pain.
There was also a little pain in my back, so tried to take a shower, after the long lenth of time which passed, was done. As I stepped out, I moved myself left and right and the pain in the back was gone and my arm felt bit better. It's like the pain was removed, which later on that day, I was normal again.
Sounds like you've cut off circulation from your arm by sleeping on it. You could have brought it back to normal in about a minute by masaging it. I have poor circulation in my arms to begin with, so that happens to me every now and then.
Yeah, I was thinking that. I've done that before with my arm, it feels *very* weird. Almost feels like it's going to drop off.

Oh dear. Well, it can't be helped.
My Mum is having her big toe on her left foot amputated. Apparently it's not uncommon for diabetics to lose part or all of a foot. Also part of the artery in her left leg has to be removed and replaced, either with artery from somewhere else, or with synthetic materials. There's a 90% chance it'll work out fine, and a 10% chanxce that it won't and that she'll lose the leg.
Personally, I like those odds and we're very optimistic.

Statistically, I'm suprised that it doesn't turn out to be the case all the time. Think about it. How often do you love someone? Now, what are the odds, statistically, of that person loving you back? Is it more complicated? Does statistic simply not work? I'm still trying to figure this one out.
