View Full Version : The money exploit is a show-stopper, needs fixing ASAP
I'm naturally referring to the ability of getting 2 or 3 items for the price of one using the Shop. There's already few people on Ranked, and those who are there abuse it almost every time, so the quality of gameplay is poor.
While it's true that "everyone can do it", that's not much of a reassurance, as it just about destroys the tactical gameplay - With a measly 30 coins, you can triple-dip (!) an Airstrike purchase, netting you a potential 4 Airstrikes to use in total. I'm sure anyone can see why this kind of thing is problematic
I'm surprised it's taking so long to fix - it's been on the game since day 1

You're damn right it's been in the game since day one. It's written in the code. How else do you think all those - (negative) symbols got there if they weren't put there on purpose? Not only can "everyone do it," it doesn't guarantee a win. If you choose to go negative, you take the chance of being in the hole when a 10 coin item could easily win the match. I have never seen anyone purchase 4 airstrikes lol.

That's just because the money is stored as a signed integer and they probably used some number to string function that automatically inserts a minus sign if the number is negative. :p
It's definitely a programming oversight.

And it just happens to work exactly the same way on all 3 platforms? Right.

Uh, yes? Why wouldn't it? The game is built and then ported to other platforms, so the same bug is in all builds

Whatever. I hate computers. I don't write code. I don't write programs. All I know is Team 17 already said they can fix bugs and glitches and make updates on the PC much easier, cheaper and faster than they can on Xbox or PS3. If its a glitch, why hasn't it been fixed, at least on the PC? Maybe it can't be. Maybe it's not a glitch. Adapt or die. It's in the game. Use it or don't. Don't be surprised when people use it against you. Looks like its here to stay.

Maybe because they stopped caring? They haven't replied to any post on this forum in ages.
Hey why are you acting so defensive anyway? No one's going to blame you for using such an exploit and we were merely trying to show that it's definitely a bug and not an intended feature. :p

2 reasons:
1, Because so many really good players talk about how they haven't/won't use it...Personally, I've never played about 50% of the people ranked in the top 100. How did they get there without meeting me at least once? Cheating mostly, and I don't mean with the "glitch" we are talking about. If you don't cheat outright and you want to keep your spot near the top, YOU MUST WIN EVERY GAME against lower ranked players. With nearly 10,000 Xbox Live users palying this game now, a lot of really good players haven't "leveled out" yet and are coming up through the ranks. You don't recognize them, they pull some unexpected **** and all of a sudden you realize you're about to lose 20 spots...and then they buy 3 jet packs. Are you going to do the honorable thing? I say EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO DENIES HAVING USED THIS "GLITCH" is a liar.
2, I honestly don't think it's a glitch. It's supposed to be there or it wouldn't be there.

Meh who cares about ranking. I've always considered ranking to be a completely useless gimmick, all it does is encourage people to quit when they're about to lose, or to show zero fair play during matches. You can never really stop people from quitting anyway.
Also it's definitely a glitch. Some glitches turn out to have an interesting impact on gameplay and developers turn them into actual features, but this one is just detrimental to the gameplay because those who know about the glitch have an unfair advantage against those who don't. I just don't see why you'd think it was done on purpose. Developers make mistakes, tons of them, and a product can contain hundreds of minor or major glitches even after months of testing.

I believe that they took away your win/loss ratio to encourage people to not quit.
