Hi
Can anybody point me to the original league BnG scheme? (ie the one that was used for the monthly(?) 1v1 tournaments and the winner got a red flaming health bar). It had 3 worms, a HHG, clusters, health drops and maybe some other features that i forget.
Hi to anyone that remembers me from about 10 years ago :)

I think i found it. Still not sure of speed of water rise or frequency of health drops and im fairly sure it was manual placement. Link to follow although it looks like im talking to myself here. Meh

The flaming health bars have been disabled for a very long time now so don't expect that without the aid of 3rd party mods.

Afraid I can't help you, but nice to see an old-timer (before my time even). :)

I believe flaming health bars have in fact been disabled entirely to enable more space in the palette for maps. IE, it's not even possible with third party mods unless you totally recreate it.
I love it when people just pop up using their old accounts, though ;)

Don't think it was manual. I can remember a lot of dumb games. :o
Healths were there I guess. I'm also missing the petrols on that list. I think they were infinite.
I too would like to have a copy of this scheme, but I believe it's lost in the space of 1999 :(
We really need to invent a timemachine. Damn MIT noobs.
edit: oh nm, i see you linked to the psx scheme, thats why no petrols :x
Mission impossible :(
I do have this PS version of WA though, I could check into it and guess how often the healths drop.

I remember you HHC ( i think). Dont think our paths crossed much, just remember the name.
Youre right about the petrol, pretty sure that was there. I've pretty much put it together now. Plays ok anyway.
(flaming bars comments..i know theyre finished, i was just trying to describe where i last saw the scheme).
cheers all, see you in 2024.

If you can remember the addresses of any old league/clan sites, you could try the Internet Archive (http://archive.org/index.php).

I was able to retrieve a scheme titled "Pro BnG" from cl2k.org, capture dated July 2001:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010720062724/http://www.cl2000.org/Site/schemes/ProBnG.wsc
It seems to be down at the moment, for me at least. Oddly, it's returning a 200 OK but not actually transferring any bytes.

File works for me, but unfortunately it's a pretty run-of-the-mill BnG. No HHG, clusters, or health crates.
The hunt continues.
Here's the reference I used to locate it for anyone who wants to give it a try. (http://worms2d.info/Community)
EDIT: Another page of links. (http://www.angelfire.com/nd2/worms/links.htm)
lol, thats my page :o
So upload it sloth? pwetty pwease.
Not gonna find it anymore extremist. Nobody bothered to save schemes that were readily available to everyone at the time.
A good bet would be someone who took network logs of WormNET. Deadcode, I'm looking at you ;) - were you around during ranking?

Slothball, you won the BnGleague of the rankings almost 13 years ago, back in May 2000! You also won the first season of CL2K, finishing in front of Kopite and MPH. Feel free to go back in time browsing this thread: http://www.tus-wa.com/forums/worms-armageddon/worms-history-from-rankings-to-the-birth-of-tus-15257/msg122563/#msg122563
I've been trying to search for the scheme, but most sites are down and it's pretty much impossible to retrieve it with the internet archive...

Here are the league schemes from right after rankings were taken offline, but before the league channels were deleted.
I have a network log of me joining the Team17League channel on 2000-11-22. I didn't have a log of joining any other league channels, however, on 2004-02-20 I found that the wormnet server was still returning the correct strings for all the league schemes. The Team17League string was a match for the 2000-11-22 one, and I assume all the others were also unchanged.
So I converted the <SCHEME=...> strings into .WSC files.

^ Looks like we have a winner! The included BnG has clusters, petrol, and an HHG!

Wow, thanks for digging that up Deadcode (and Extremest2 for your efforts).
XCrazyX, that link brought a smile to my face. So many familiar names there. Cl2k was such a fun place to be at back then, never a dull moment.
I'm tempted to waffle on about my memories of that time but i'll inevitably end up sounding like granddad Simpson so i'll bite my tongue :)

W:A showed up on the new (ha) releases on Steam today, so I suddenly remembered this place existed. Memories indeed. CL2K and Sir MPH, fun times indeed. I moved house recently and even found some old sloth-made CDs from the trixfiles CD-swap days..! My only regret is never making it to slothcon - ah well, missed opportunities and all that.
Hello to sloth, Deadcode, and anyone else who used to play oh so long ago.

Hey Strat, hello to you too :) I'd love to know what CDs you had off me...pm me if you like, I understand if you don't want everyone to know you were a Cliff Richard fan. As I remember it, MPH quit worms and became some kind of UK Scrabble fanatic. Met him a few times, nice bloke but painfully shy.
As for this BnG scheme, I played a few games of it this week and it plays great, nice mix of skill and tactics. Trouble is, i've just upgraded my internet connection and I suddenly can't host anymore. Haven't worked out why yet..
So my next question: is there any way this can be added to the HostingBuddy list of games?

Turns out it was/is manual. I think the dumb games you remember are because you couldn't choose which map you played on, you had to go with the map suggested which were often caves. Plays infinitely better on the outdoor maps.
That's true. But they did implement some changes to the schemes. I also think the ropeleague was pretty different at the start. With weapon crates and all that. The one in deadcode's pack has only healths and just a few weaps, it's basically what roper later become.
The caves sucked indeed, but later it was changed to island only. I kinda think they changed the random/placement thing too. A cave wouldnt suck so bad if you had at least teleports to keep you away from the bottom. From my memory however I often played against worms on the very bottom. Surely no player would place them there on purpose.
