View Full Version : Strange connection issues on private multiplayer
I've been hosting Worms Armageddon games with some friends, and in recording these to put on Youtube, I've caught a time where the game will freeze on everyone but one person's side. This (http://youtu.be/P5NjEsNfcRc?t=29m4s) showcases it pretty well. On the player's side, he's seeing the whole turn play out, then everyone surrenders. But for everyone else, the pigeon's frozen in mid-air with zero explanation. It only seems to happen for this one person, and rather inexplicably, whenever he hosts, everything plays out fine. Does anyone know why this might be happening, and if there's a way to fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

You're describing someone dropping from the game due to lag out. The person drops during his own turn (the game allows him to take the turn because it's client side), when the turn is over and it tries to interchange information with the other clients it shows everyone surredenring because that's what worms do in lag outs.
Possible fixes: getting a better internet connection.
I figured as much. This is pretty annoying, since it only seems to happen during that one guy's turns, and when it's flipped round everything's fine and dandy.
As for the timeout... I've heard it's something totally exaggerated like 3 minutes or even 5... can we adjust this setting for our playing pleasures and self-hostes games in the future? I think 30 seconds are enough already...

You can cancel out of it at any moment when attempting to join a game. It's only when connecting to WormNET that there is no option available to cancel the connection attempt.

he is talking about a player timeout on receive in-game.

well, then it's that one guy's problem. I suggest benching him in your wormy reunions at least until he manages to fix his connection problems.
Strange question, I might be barking up the wrong tree, but does it usually happen after roughly the same amount of time every time, or is it pretty much random? ie, is it vaguely predictable when it'll happen?

It tends to be random, which is what's irritating to me. It tends to happen late at night as well, normally between 10pm to 1am, which I'm pretty sure is in the off-peak hours. Then again, I'm with BT, and they tends to be several types of unreliable at the worst of times. (sorry for the late reply, btw)
