I guess the title kind of lies. I'm here to cry. Yes, to whine. And also to ask a question. Let's get the painful first-world problem out of the way.
I didn't make Beta. I don't know, but it made me sad. I admit I never played the first Worms until after I became obsessed with Worms 2, and Armageddon, and Worms Pinball -- I became retroactively nostalgic for all things worms.
I had a guild. I don't know if anyone from Worms 2 remembers it -- Habib's Clan. I also had a dumb fan website for Armageddon (by far my favorite out of the series). But I've been playing every single once since. Never enjoyed the jump to 3D a ton, but that never stopped me from playing it through (single player) completely, and jumping into a few multiplayer matches.
Worms Reloaded I didn't think was as bad as everyone said. I played a ton and while the physics and limitations held it back a bit, I loved it. My biggest gripe was the ranking system. I wanted something more complete/complex.
I am still playing it though with my girlfriend. Trying to get her into it. My history with Worms has always been trying to get as many people to play as possible. Sadly, I really only hooked one friend. I guess there's a point when you first pick up the series where you realize "Omg, this isn't just funny chaos. There is REAL strategy here." And he was the only one to reach that point.
Anyway, so, yes, I am sad that Team17 didn't pick me for Beta. I'd much rather being playing that than boring ol' Diablo -- though this new "Tower Wars" game is intriguing. Anyway. Hardly matters. I'll be buying the game and losing lots of sleep after it's out. /whining complete
So, I don't know much beta testers can talk about, but my primary question/concern for them is how the physics/gameplay differ. I imagine with a new engine it can't feel exactly like the old Worms' games, but I'm wondering if it's pretty similar or if I should be expecting to re-learn controls a bit.
Anyway. Still looking forward to this and still a fan of the series, even though I was "left behind." Peace, wormers and developers.
