View Full Version : Dcrew's Trajectory Hack
Hello, Dcrew here.
Now I have been playing worms for a few years (on and off), And I just began playing recently after having quit for a few months.
I remembered the old "tool-assisted w:a versions" people used to go on about and how it sounded so cool, but looked even cooler!
I recently thought of just making a "fakey" (as-in not actually editing w:a game files) but doing a frame-by-frame sort of thing! It sounded so cool, Because then you'd be able to make all-sorts of cool looking worms
animations, but then I remembered how annoying it would be to import all w:a sprites etc.
I'll leave that for when Deadcode and Cybershadow come to realise how cool that'd be.
But now! I'm here developing a trajectory hack for worms.
Before Deadcode and Cybershadow panic I'm not releasing this to public, nor am I using this myself to cheat online.
Atm I haven't added map wall-detection. And it's only about 90% accurate (which is good! But I'm aiming for 100% here)

An update, the trajectory was pretty much more or less 100% accurate this update.

I can't help but notice (unless I'm missing something) that trajectory in the screenshot is complete nonsense. Let's see a video, aye? ;)

Agreed. You're indeed developing - a fakey as it looks like. So proof me wrong ;)
I see Cyber smiling
It looks as though your posts were a little late being approved; my previous comment was regarding the screenshot in your first post.

The first shot was alot less accurate than it is in the next 2, and the one I'm about to show.
If you want a video, I'll make one and post it here :)

It looks as though you've made an overlay (are you playing the game on a virtual machine?), rather than a "hack". The predicted trajectories following the wind seem a lot more accurate than those opposing it. Have you been researching the mathematics behind the game, or has it just been trial and error?
I have to ask: If you do not intend on sharing this work with anyone, why have you included instructions on how to use it? (I'm a sceptic)
If you feel like discussing your ideas, come and drop in to #worms on GameSurge (http://www.gamesurge.net/), some time.

Yes it's external to the game, I wanted it this way so it can't get detected.
And yes it's been 14-20 hours of pure trial and error, I've been trying to research and take close perspectives to the worms projectiles as I can, fortunatly for me it has been a good run and worked for the most part.
I don't quite understand how this GameSurge website works (It looks rather odd) Have you any other contact? specifically IM (steam, skype, msn)?
GameSurge is an IRC network, available through clients like mIRC, for large group discussions: http://worms2d.info/Worms_on_GameSurge
I suggested joining #worms because there are plenty of others who are interested in the games mechanics, like yourself, there.

Why pray tell, are you going out of your way to make your mod undetectable? The only reason I can see for doing such is to allow you to use it online without getting caught. Yes I know you claim you won't do such, but still...

Just a measure of extremes, It may sound like that.
I like to keep my games/programmes clean and undetectable by it's source.
Let's just say I want to keep this clean and undetected, for reasons I can't think of.
After some heavy mind confusion last night having all so nice chat's with deadcode and lex.
@Lex thank-you for ****ing my brain up :P
But I eventually got to this point in which it's nearly finished!

After trying hours on end from comparing to coding to heavy-thinking, I think I may have finally achieved a successful worms trajectory replicate :)

Still looks weird to me.
Fix is coming up in the next Update.

there's not much else (nothing?) you have to know to make a perfect trajectory prediction.

Already had the trajectory sussed out ready for next update, but thanks!
