I remember way back when a local toyshop had a bunch of them for like 5 pounds each. I ended up with a bunch of the more esoteric ones that way: the Monopoly set, the grandfather clock (with actual working clock).

I wish i'd snapped up the 3000 piece New York puzzle and that meter tall Big Ben a few years ago. The largest one I currently own is the Taj Mahal. I used to have the Eifel tower Tower Bridge and the Empire State Building, but leaving them on dispaly resulted in various damages from dust, falls and ultimately cats sitting on them.

Sculpture puzzles just aren't the same (also they're incredibly heavy). I've got a puzzle ball globe which was a lot of fun (if a bit fiddly) but that ideas is a bit limited.

The older ones did have this problem. I often had to use pins & tape to get them to stay together. But they eventually fixed the problem somehow.
