View Full Version : Crespo World Tournament
http://www.cwtsite.com/
That's why WA and its community are so special!
It's the 11th edition of the tourney, it will have physical trophies for first 3 spots and a cash prize for the champion that is, at the moment, more than 115€, but can reach, yet, about 200€.
It will have, also, a live streaming of some games on http://www.own3d.tv/kalababa and, possibly, on the tourney site too.
Registered as Phantom. Can't wait! :)
I'm sorry Phantom. The intention of my post was only to let you know about the tourney and not to gather more players. It can be different for the following editions, but for now the tourney is restricted only for 32 players. The best Intermediate players are almost all registered. For now you can only apply for a waiting list, but it will be very difficult to get a spot in this year edition. But maybe next year will have, at least 64 players, instead of the currently 32.
By the way, last year had already physical trophies and the winner had a prize money of, at least 90€. The archive section is still under construction.
And what is the point of letting us now if we can't join?
Create an atmosphere of excitement? Make people who claim nothing but roping schemes get played on WA realise their beliefs might not be accurate? Show people how competitive a relatively laid back game like Worms can be under the right circumstances? All valid goals in my opinion. :p
I'll be happy to watch the streams of the later stages and replays of whatever fun matches might pop up before that.

Cash prizes these days? Wow, that might have a concentrating effect on my performances!
Here's hoping I might just sneak a place in this year's set-up, after a couple of years of non-starters.
Tonight we show a live-stream of 1/8 Final Mablak vs. Tade. 19 GMT on www.cwtsite.com/stream.php
Thanks Ivo for this thread, just found it by hazard via Google :)
Yea, cash prize of 300USD and 3 trophies. CWT train is running!!!
P.S. Sorry Phantom, but CWT is great happening for all Intermediate players. Starter places are limited to 32 players, that's why well-known - with a certain skill level - Intermediate players are prefered.
Aaaaaand tomorrow we stream the remake of last years final: Mablak&Kayz already meet in quarterfinals. Only one of them can forward.

I only managed to catch it from 7:45 onwards, on the easter map when Dario used the skunk. Was rooting for Dario. Woo!
Was fun to watch, thanks for streaming.

Please increase the # of entrants next time. Having only the best perpetuates the idea of the hardcore WA players isolating themselves.
CWT actively seek to present a comparatively-prestigious title and prize for its winners. It is not these guys job to include every Tom, Dick and Harry in the tournament; it is the job of the players to make a name for themselves by actively competing in other leagues, tournaments or competitions (such as those available for everyone at TUS (http://www.tus-wa.com/) or WO (http://www.wormolympics.com/)) to then be eligible for participation. For not only were players skills taken into consideration, but also their reliability, sportsmanship and general etiquette.
Depending on the quality of players who are interested in signing up for the next CWT, more players could definitely be fun (the commentated streams of high-level intermediate were very entertaining), but you have once again failed to grasp the intentions of productive work in the community.

Get off your high horses.
You idolise North Korea, yet you mock people who put time, effort and money into something that provided a lot of entertainment to a lot of people, in a community that you are supposedly a part of. Have some respect and at least keep your criticisms rational instead of trolling.
Thanks for your words, GreeN.
Sorry that I am a bit late to read your post, Extremist.
Our conception of this tourney is to nominate the best Intermediate player of the year. Therefor we want guarantee 100% fairplay, what already means avoiding fake players, avoidiong technical wins, avoiding internet connection problems. But also to get the highest skill level of playing, means a qualitative good starter field.
CWT welcomes rarely new players, there are not more then 5 new players each year signing up for tourney. You might call it elite thinking. I think this conservative way, not to make big publicity before tourney starts, avoids that players joins up, who have rarely played a Intermediate game and are only felt attracted by money and throphies.
Nevertheless, I invite known players by privat messages and remember them about CWT. More then 20 PMs last time. And I tell them to spread a word to other trustful players. Like that I hope to archive most skilled participant field but at the same time also trustful persons, who showed their interest in Intermediate over years. Your suggestion to increase starting spots would make it a lot of more difficult.
Our CWT Streams are proof enough, that we aren't an isolated club of hardcore WA players. We want to share our fun of playing and at best infect you :-)
