I'm a big Worms 3D fan and have been looking forward to this since I heard about it about a month ago. I've played quite a few matches and because the game isn't really reflex based, I've had quite a bit of fun with the game.

However, my top of the line PC which runs Crysis on max at nearly 30 fps can't get more than 8 fps in this game. My drivers are all up to date. Is there a solution for this yet?

AMD Phenom Quadcore 2.7
Windows Vista 32

Hello

"My top of the line PC" "Nvidia GTX 275 AMD Phenom Quadcore 2.7 Windows Vista 32" that is not top of the line to be honest if you had a GTX 500 serie videocard and a processor above 3,2MHz then I understand you maybe. Anyway back to the point with your issue.

Solutions that maybe work.

Lower your shadow resolutions
Lower your anti-aliasing
Lower your resolution

Thanks for the advice. I do appreciate the try, but I am an avid PC gamer and I promise you I've tried ever combination I could regarding shadows, AA, and Nvidia settings.

Also, of course my PC is the tip top of the line but it DOES play top of the line games acceptably well. It should be able to run ten copies of this game side by side w/o issue.

The graphics have nothing to do with the performance....
It doesnt matter if you can run crysis,crysis2,crysis356-A reloaded or whatever....each game have has its own code....crysis and worms dont run on the same engine....

Of course, crysis performance and graphics are high tier....but that does not means that if you can run crysis well you can run every game on the market....I mean, my 6 yo CPU can run crysis....

So you're saying a game with cartoon graphics should run worse than a game with realistic graphics?

Team17 needs to optimise the game.

Cartoon or realistic....depends 80% on textures....nothing to do with performance...
However, Im not defending WUM performance (wich is preety bad).....Im just saying that having worse graphics(or less realistic, if you like it that way) than crysis does not means that a game should run faster.....look at minecraft, for example....

Yeah Minecraft has an odd frame rate at my side, it's like 35-40fps with fancy graphics...

Crysis has extremely high resolution textures, MANY fancy shaders, advanced physics on everything in the game that isn't bolted to the ground, dynamic shadows on almost everything, EXTREMELY high poly characters with advanced AI, HUGE draw distance, volumetric clouds, motion blur, depth of field, and is semi-open world.

Even if Worms has the same resolution textures (which it doesn't) it's not doing NEARLY as much at any given moment as Crysis. As such Worms requires SUBSTANTIALLY less resources to run than Crysis.

I think it's very likely that Team17 just didn't have the time frame or budget to release a fairly bug free game. If they continue to support the game than that's okay. We'll eventually get a working product. I'm just hoping they don't Pull a Saints Row 2, F1 2010, or Shift 2 and just take our money and run (next to no support post release for any of those buggy games).

If you like crysis that much, go and play it....
Comparing WUM with crysis, in any aspect, makes no sense....its like comparing a my ass with a bungee cord....

Crysis came out 4 years ago, it's not exactly a PC benchmark anymore.

WUM might not look like much but it does a lot of fancy effects like SSAA, dynamic shadows, HDR shading, fully deformable 3D terrain, PIP, etc, which can get pretty expensive.

I don't know what PIP is but Crysis does everything else on that list times ten.

And to the guy who said I shouldn't be comparing Crysis to Worms: I'm not comparing the games, I'm comparing the graphics engines. Look, I LOVE this game... but I should be getting 60 fps in a game that is designed to play on as many computers as it possibly can. In NO WAY AT ALL is Worms top of the line in the graphics department. Crysis 1 STILL sets the mark for graphics. There are games that come close, but w/o mods none surpass.

But didn't he just explain the bad performance might not only be down to the graphics?

By the way, you can increase frame rates hugely by lowering the resolution. Much more efficiental than low shadow or supersampling modes.

EDIT - Turning V-Sync off has put an end to my performance problems as well as the mouse lag! You really should try that and Team17 should make it available as an in-game/launcher option.

I have tried both reducing resolution and turning off V-Sync. No luck :(

Thanks for the try though.
