View Full Version : Did anyone buy a 3DS?
(I haven't been on here for a while - sorry, I sort of drifted away...)
I have a 3DS - it's actually much better than I expected it would be. The 3D is very good, and doesn't make me sick - it greatly increases the depth and immersiveness of games. The analogue nub ("circle pad") is also a very welcome addition.
I have only Zelda at the moment, I'm wondering which other games to buy. I have my eye on Street Fighter IV, and am also considering buying the new Star Fox game. I might hold out until Christmas, though.
My friend code is 3136-6762-5385, add me and I'll add anyone who does reply (if anyone does actually have one :p)

*raises hand*
I only have OoT3D as well, currently not considering anything else, just waiting for Super Mario 3D Land, and maybe Mario Kart 7. Eagerly awaiting Monster Hunter Tri G... if it ever makes its way here. I even want that stupid extra nub cradle thing for dual nub goodness. :p

I also want the extra nub! I don't see what everyone hates about it - who cares how your games console looks. It's for playing games, it isn't a bloody fashion statement!
Added you, it seems to have worked. I'm also interested in the new Mario games, though I've never played Monster Hunter - my friend always gets addicted to them, however, so perhaps I will buy it just to see what all the fuss is about :p
Another edit: I did also manage to cheat the system for ambassador status. Though I bought it after the price went down, I managed to figure out that using the ambassador tool, you can sign up with someone else's friend code that was created before the date, and it isn't actually checked that you own the friend code, or that the other person is already an ambassador. So, I put someone else's friend code in - now I'm an ambassador, and he still is (he always was). It took quite a few days for it to work, though.

The price drop proved to be too much of a temptation for me. One day I'll sucessfull manage to wait for the hardware revision. Untill then I'll save a spot in my cupboard next to my DSphat and unbacklit GBA for when the 3DS with two circle pads comes out.
That said OOT is gorgeous!
I also picked up Ghost Recon Shadow wars.
The lead developer was Julian Gollop, of XCOM fame, although it's probably closer to Advance Wars than XCOM as far as gameplay and complexity goes.
It's a fun little turn-based strategy game that's inexplicably also a bland ghost recon spinoff at the same time, so be prepared to skip through ten billion cutscenes of evil russian men talking to each other.
Edit: I'll add my friend code later.

Oh wow Muzer, and I thought I was sleazy when I got it for the discounted price a day earlier and registered for the ambassador status. :p

Heh - it wasn't really for the NES games, because they would be available later (but having said that, they've proven surprisingly fun) - it was for the GBA games which Nintendo claim they have "no plans" to offer later... I would really love to play MK:SC among others on my 3DS :D
I think I'll hold out until the big batch of first-party games are released for Christmas, and take my pick from those.
I've heard Nintendo plan to add a video recorder function - I wonder if this will double as a video playback function for any remotely normal sort of video file? If so, it could be very useful for watching 3D films, etc., though conversion will obviously take an age (downconverting full HD ripped from a Blu-Ray disc to something at a much lower resolution that'll fit on a 2GB SD card and still look good is not something I want to contemplate right now :p)
I look forward to when THE definitive multiplayer game comes out (I'm guessing this'll be Mario Kart), then we'll have a use for these Friend Codes we're swapping!
Anyway, I'm sure all we're REALLY waiting for is Worms Open Warfare 3D :p

I think THE definitive multiplayer game is going to be the Super Smash Bros. game that is supposed to come out sometime in the future, but I guess Mario Kart will have to do until then. :p
