View Full Version : Worm for WebOS: HP TouchPad Problems
First of all, thank you Team 17. You've kept us occupied with this amazing title for the last 16 years :). I bought Worms for the PC (3 times). When I got my iPhone, Worms was the first game I bought. And, when I got my HP TouchPad, Worms was the first game I bought.
I'd like to report some issues I'm having with the WebOS version of the game on the HP TouchPad:
The game appears in upside down portrait mode at all times. Orientation lock has no effect, nor does physically rotating the device. See Worms WebOS - In Game.jpg (http://forum.team17.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=33273&stc=1&d=1314015536)
The screen is stretched, as if it would like to be in landscape mode (a circle appears oblong, too tall). See Worms WebOS - Main Screen.jpg (http://forum.team17.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=33274&stc=1&d=1314015536)
I'm running WebOS 3.0.2 (latest), but these problems also happened with 3.0. I've tried restarting the device and the app, but beyond that I didn't know what to do.
I've already reported a problem through the HP App Catalog, but I figured I'd post here as well in case others were having the same issue.

I too have this problem! Lots of people are snagging the touchpad this week, so hopefully there is a simple fix pretty soon!
I chatted with EA support, called EA support, contacted EA Mobile support through their portal, posted on EA Games' Facebook wall, posted Team 17's Facebook wall, and messaged Frank Gibeau.
Someone in EA should hear about this soon :)

You do know that webOS is being discontinued and no updates will come to either the OS or the apps, right?
You do know that webOS is being discontinued and no updates will come to either the OS or the apps, right?
I'm sorry, you seem to be mistaken. If you read the HP Press Release (http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2011/110818b.html) and various articles (http://www.pcworld.com/article/238656/future_of_hps_webos_the_faq.html), you'll find that only the devices have been discontinued; webOS will still be developed, updates will still come to current devices, and HP will continue to invest in attracting developers for webOS.
Will HP Continue to Develop WebOS?
For the foreseeable future, HP says it will continue to work on and invest in webOS. Dewitt told Bloomberg that the company plans to evolve, update, and support webOS.
Are WebOS Updates Coming to Current Devices?
Yes, DeWitt says updates for the Veer and the TouchPad will continue, but it's unclear when that would change.
What About the HP App Catalog?
HP claims it is still invested in attracting developers to create apps for webOS. "We will continue to support, innovate, and develop the webOS App Catalog. Our intent is to enhance our merchandising and presentation of your great products and to continue to build our webOS app ecosystem," Kerris said recently on the HP webOS Developer Blog.
Furthermore, just because a device has been discontinued, that doesn't mean the value proposition of attracting users to purchase an existing app is gone with it. 500,000+ new users of webOS, many of them loyal fans to the Worms franchise, literally appeared overnight. If the application is patched to fix the aforementioned bugs, more sales are likely to come in, and it would show EA's dedication to creating a great gaming experience for their customers on every platform.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed and continue supporting Worms with our purchases and hope they get around to fixing this :)

Is there a setting or something I'm missing? The graphics on my Touchpad a terrible-and yes I've tried toggling the "low res graphics" option on the menu. They are blocky and I can't really make out individual worms...But then again I'm not having the same "screen squash"problem that others are reporting....
Can you post a screenshot? Try pressing lock + home, it should take a screenshot and save it to the TouchPad.
Also, what version of webOS are you running?
I'm running the latest OS-3.0.2. There doesn't seem to be any difference when I toggle "low res graphics" on or off. Maybe its stuck in low res.
Or perhaps its meant to look like this?
I've tried uploading a screen grab but when I take one, the image is just a colourful mess-this is only happening with this game. Oh, and now this website isn't letting me choose a file when adding an attachment anyway. :-(
