View Full Version : game launch with error message "insert CD"

Moin,

I bought the sold-out-software version of Worms 2 & Worms Armageddon via play.com a couple of days ago. Installation is done via setup.exe, not the sold-out interface (setup.now.exe) and finishs without error. After starting wa.exe I get:

"Please insert the Worms Armageddon CD-ROM into the drive before starting the game"

Well, I just installed from it. Reading through the FAQs its advised to use the latest BETA update, so I downloaded WA_update-3.6.31.0_Beta_Installer.exe. No trouble with the installer, online updates get fetched and installed. Launching the game now results in:

"Please insert the Worms Armageddon CD-ROM in the drive"

From what I read this is an indication that I installed a patch that wasn't necessary?

System in use is a German Windows 7 SP1. My problem here is to get the game to run at all. Any ideas? Did I miss something in the FAQ to get the sold-out version running?

Do you have multiple disk drives on your system, or any drives labeled "WA"?

That installation attempt was on an Acer laptop. One disk, one single partition (beside the 100MB hidden one created by Windows 7 setup), one optical DVD drive. Nothing labeled WA. Selected installation path: c:\program files\worms_armageddon.

Guess I found it. Since I don't use a 1.44MB floppy drive anymore I renamed the CD drive to A:. Now I just did an installation on my desktop system (where A: is still used as floppy, but three disks ( partitioned c-f) and G is my optical drive. The installation went smooth, game started after installation and even after I applied latest Beta-Patch.

Will check on the laptop and report back whether renaming of the optical drive to something else a A will solve it.

chaning the driver letter for the optical drive from A to D solved it.

programs tend to ignore the A and B drive letters when looking for discs.

Selected installation path: c:\program files\worms_armageddon.

Not recommended for Windows 7 with UAC enabled, you might have problems with saving data later

The warning also includes Vista with UAC enabled.
