There are a few issues that can cause lag. Please contact support@team17.com and they should be able to help you.
Why not just answer here so everyone can see the response? Secret email conversations don't help people outside the exchange.

First of all Lex, I'm not support staff and the people who do support do it through email. That's just the way they operate, sorry. PC support in particular needs to be done through email as there can be so many different reasons why something is not working and they may need to ask for attachments such as the dxdiag report. In an ideal world we would have T17 staff actively doing support on the forums too. Maybe if I get my way, it will happen. :)
...this is what I got told in my email to Team17 support. It seems to be mainly aimed at Windows users.
Verify integrity of game cache
Load Steam
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
Another reason that your game may be crashing is that you don’t have all the latest directx and video drivers, please check Steam’s support page here: - https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1093-TEMX-7665
Update DirectX. The files are available from http://www.microsoft.com/directx
If you are experiencing sound issues with the game, please try updating your sound drivers. Most people after trying this have reported that it works: - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en
We have had a few reported issues where USB Speakers or Headphones have caused crashes, we are looking into that, but if you are experiencing crashes and you have a USB device plugged in, please try unplugging it to see if that helps and then let us know if there was a problem there.
We have also had a couple of strange issues reported when someone has 2 graphic cards. If you have 2 cards and you just see a black screen, please try disabling the 2nd one in BIOS and use PCI-E as the Primary graphics card (obviously if this is the case for you we need to fix why this happens) and this should only be tried as a last resort.
Some users have said that the latest ATI catalyst drivers are causing problems for them and rolling back to pre 10.6 seems to fix the problem.
Another workaround that has worked for some with soundblaster cards.: - Go to Control Panel - Sound, and in the Playback tab select your active playback device and click Properties and then the Advanced tab. Change your 'Standard Format' to one of the two 44100 options and then click OK.
If you are experience major in-game lag, some users have found that forcing the game to use one core has made a difference.
Another reason, you may be experiencing lag is related to some Saitek keyboards. If you have Saitek Keyboard and it has resulted in game lag, you can fix it by disabling all your USB input devices. Go to your Task Manager>Human Interface Devices>and disable USB Input Devices listed here.
If you are having excessive Multiplayer lag or online connection issues. It seems like even when you don’t use your mic, if the settings in your steam client are not correct; it can result in network congestion and connection issues. In Steam go to Steam > Settings > Voice and make sure the selected device is correct or just disable the voice.
Please also check the sticky threads on the Worms Reloaded steam forum for the latest news on bug fixes and solutions: - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=941 there is also an excellent thread here: - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1417022
If you are experiencing network problems blease review the instructions in the Steam knowledge base :- https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1456-EUDN-2493
If after doing these things, your problem is fixed, then please let us know. If your problem still persists then please send us your dxdiag file and the game log file and we will find out why you are still experiencing problems.
