View Full Version : Worms 2 on Win7

So, I've managed to successfully install Worms 2, but I have two problems.
1. Videos don't work. When they play, I hear the sound, but I get a white screen with red lines which says it cannot find the 'vids:KMVC' decompressor. However, I don't really care about that.
What I do care about is this issue:
2. I can get into the frontend and change settings, etc. However, when I launch a game, my screen switches to some lower colour amount (maybe 256) and then goes black as soon as the game loads. I can still hear all of the game's sounds, and I can actually "play" the game (by firing weapons, etc.) But I cannot SEE anything going on—the screen is entirely black.
Any ideas on how I can get Worms 2 to show me what's going on in the games?

The mystery deepens...
I've discovered a strange workaround:
After launching frontend.exe, setting up a game, launching the game, and then alt-tabbing out and closing the game (because I can't see anything), I can THEN launch worms2.exe and it will launch a game with the settings I had previously designated in frontend.exe. This time, I can now see everything and play as usual.
The major downside to this workaround is that it makes stockpiling impossible (and means there's no awards, etc.)—every game must be a one-off.
Anyone have any idea why I can run worms2.exe just fine, but when frontend tries to launch a game, I can't see anything?
(Both programs are running in compatibility mode.)

I don't seem to be having any trouble with my retail Worms 2 on Windows 7, and I'm not even running in compatibility mode. That said, my cutscenes don't play at all, but I don't get an error. The game just sort of skips over them.

Guys, my worms 2 works perfectly, but the worms make no sound when they walk. I've discovered that some sound files could't be read from the CD. The CD is old, so I made a portable version for my new note (W7) .
I've managed to put some sound files from other worms games, on the worms 2 folder, and they worked! :D
But the walking sounds didn't... :(
I strongly believe that it's just a matter of renaming the walking files just as they should be on worms 2.
So, can anyone tell me the exact name of 2 sound files that correspond to the worm walking sound on worms 2? I just need the names.

Guys, I lost some sound effects files from my worms 2 game. Could someone tell me what are exact names of worms walking sounds? There are only 2 files, one when the worm expands and the other when it contracts.
The EXACT names of the files on WORMS 2 game, like "Wormwalk1.wav".

The worm walking sound were included in Worms 2 but never implemented, so there's nothing wrong with the game - it's intentional.

If the game refers to a audio file that didn't install correctly then the game would outright crash.
