View Full Version : Worms Crawl of Duty
Sorry if i put this in the wrong section but I heard about this game that is developed by team 17. I just want to know if its just afool or if its real and if yes when it will be released. Here is some gameplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsTk4X31BR8
That's pretty awesome! Here's a YouTube comment explaining its origins.ok, this is something that team17 said they are working on; but actually it turned out to be april's fools =/... if that game was real it would be the best worms game there is.If any Team17 member is reading this, you might as well post a quick confirmation or denial for future readers of this thread. :)
Yes, as far as I am aware, that was an April fools joke

I know there's a very strong hatred of FPS, real-time style Worms games like that, but I actually think something like that would work. Totally abandon the team play element that Worms currently has and just do a blatant ripoff of CoD/Halo/etc. It'd need to have things like the worms weaponry (sheep, bananas, etc) and the fully deformable landscape, along with all the cheeky worms expressions, but it might work.

Wow, quite some history to this to be honest. We actually made this video and built the environments as a real pitch to a publisher a few years ago. When it was decided not to go ahead with it we decided to keep the materials and use it as an elaborate April Fools. Shame really because it could have been quite good fun.
It would be cool if team 17 would make a post apocaliptic worms shooter like Fallout.
Wow, some publisher's picky! Sheesh!

Now it seems that with the advent of digital downloads, publishers don't seem to be required quite as much (please correct me if I'm wrong), would it therefore be a possibility to see this on Steam/App Store/XBLA/etc some time in the future?
First, some Battle Rally wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yeah, IMO, digital distribution is the future.
Only held back - once again - by consoles and their stupid limitations.
Although, if T17 keep the name "Crawl Of Duty" Activision will surely go haywire. :D

Indeed!

You guys should really go ahead and make it real some time, now that you don't depend on a publisher anymore (at least that's what I understood). :p
I think a few more spinoffs that are as good as Worms Blast wouldn't hurt, and a blatant parody of the most overrated shooters would be absolutely brilliant and hilarious.
A lot of first-person shooters are successful, and I know a lot of people who don't even know about Worms and yet will love a game like this just because it looks so ridiculous and different from other shooters.
When I first discovered that video, I've shown it to a couple of my friends, and even the ones who didn't care about Worms at all said they'd certaily be going to buy this if it was real.
Apart from TF2, there are simply not enough humorous shooters out there these days.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not going to say never because I know we would have loved to do something with this but for the immediate future (next 2 years) there is no room in development for this. Should be able to share something fun regarding Worms in a few weeks time though. :)

Worms on Facebook will happen at some point, but is still quite a long way off talking about it or showing anything.
