I was a Worms World Party player, always online, then I didn't have net for a few years
I got a playstation portable and apparently the wormnet for it is dfunct.
What is really up with worms? What is the best way to play for people who liked world party?
What do you think of this reloaded version?
Can I still play world party, because it was the best..,,
Here's the situation. There are 3 games in the Worms 2 generation: Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, and Worms World Party. They all run on the same engine with the same (or very similar) graphics, weapons, etc. They all have interesting differences, but the only one which has been continually developed since its release is Worms Armageddon. Its latest update was released in November 2010, which is very recent. This means it has received compatibility updates, bug fixes, and tons of features official and third-party. It also means the communities for the other 2 games (Worms 2 and Worms World Party) have dwindled significantly as Worms Armageddon has collected most of their players.
If you liked Worms World Party, I'm sure you'll love the current state of Worms Armageddon. If you don't have it already, you can get it from MasterTronic (formerly Sold Out Software) (http://www.mastertronic.com/productSoldOut.asp?pid=267&productLabelID=1) or Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Worms-2-Armageddon-Pc/dp/B000E23XNA) bundled with a brand new copy of Worms 2.
Here's a video showcasing the most important bug fixes and features provided by the Worms Armageddon updates (http://wormtube.worms2d.info/81/wa_beta_showdown).
Lex was talking about the PC version of Worms Armageddon BTW.
And frankly, it's the most versatile Worms game for the PC.
If you want to play a Worms game on the PSP, then the only alternative is Worms Battle Island.

Ironic how a thread titled "future of worms" is pointing out a 1998/99 game.
Looking back at Spadge's comments on Andy Davidson, I think someone should go ahead and take a good look at himself in the miror: T17, what the...You've only been good at milking the franchise to death.
Now let's go and make some Worms merchandise!!1111!1!
What the other guys said. Worms Armageddon (PC) is basically a better Worms World Party with a far larger community. The newer games are fun in their own right, but they're... different. You'd be better off sticking to WA if you loved WWP so much.

Where the heck did that come from?!

Growing anger toward T17, and alcohol.
Now, to be totaly frank, I'm having quite good fun with Worms:Reloaded, go figure...Just wish the franchise was really evolving, and the more it goes, the more I think it's way too big for T17 (with all due respect to their fair 3D attempts).

LOL and with all due respect to you I can assure you that we know exactly what we are doing. Worms Reloaded has been a massive success for us on Steam and we have plenty of extra content coming this year for that game. Worms is not too big for us and we have very big plans for the franchise over the next few years. :)
Really!? That's excellent (the Steam success thing). Worms Reloaded is a good game, but unfortunately there are some flaws (lack of match replays is my worst thing 'bout W:R along with horrible scheme editor).
I look forward to the future of (2D) Worms, it can only improve!

Bill, first of all thank you for you presence on these forums and the steams ones: it's really apreciated.
I bet you guys know what you are doing: porting the same game countless numbers of times over a decade sure must be profitable.
In Worms:Reloaded (and note that I do love the game, despite everything), we have the interesting case of a port of a port, wich is a first I believe.
Worms 2/Armaggedon croped down for XBL, then ported to PC.
While I do apreciate the hard work you guys are putting in updating the game, there's no way you will re-write the code to do some major changes such as menu presentations or heavy physics correction (and I assume this from your post on steam forums about uzi corrections)
So in short, what I mean is that over the laste decade and a half, the game has never envolved quality or quantity-wise (with the exception of the 3D attempts, kudos to them), and I regret that.
Sorry if I sound arsh, I'm just another video-game internet nerd die-hard fan you know ;)

Will you continue to utilize Steam and Steamworks for future games?
Will you utilize the option to register retail keys on Steam?

Because of a missing "p" in cropped-down,or because worms on XBL isn't a port of Armageddon strictly speaking? Or?
And could you please enlighten me on this "franpa alert" thing, I forgot my nerd dictionary?

Okay really, are you trying to make a horribly mangled point about how the new games aren't innovative enough, or are you literally not aware that this (http://www.retrogamer.net/users/874/thm1024/wormsn64.jpg) and this (http://www.team17.com/images/screenshots/wormsbattlepack/images/screenshot5.jpg) are not the same game?

In-joke. Franpa used to (well, still does but not as much) say a lot of things that were just... wrong. So much so that someone on the ZSNES board actually made some image macros based on it.

Thx for the explaination about Franpa.
About worms, not trying to troll really. My rant do is about not enough inovations, so guess I'll leave the argument about W:A and W:R beeing pretty much the same in my eyes ;)
(and again, I'm having good fun with W:R, just wish the menues and user interface weren't that horrible)
