Many have tried this before. W:A's frontend is very complicated, and will not be windowed easily.

well, i have seen this bug before without trying to run WA.exe in windowed mode. More especificaly when i was trying to restore the game in desktop.. so, booooooooooom! f*king bug =O
EDIT:
a little bit i have seen, WA.exe have an setup blocking any kind of command line. I'm trying this code on app link:
"C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon\wa.exe" -w -r800x600x32"
In another games (like SimCity4) this command line works perfectly and the game runs in windowed mode.

If I had to take a guess I'd say Dxwnd isn't properly utilizing 3d/2d acceleration.

Is WA so different from Worms 2? I successfully run Worms 2 windowed with DXWnd OG (http://www.old-games.ru/utils/files/dxwnd_og.rar).
Selected options:
- Hook DirectDraw
- Colour Convert
- Use GDI
- Auto-correct mouse position
- Don't hide mouse pointer
It's the frontend that's hardest to window. WA's frontend system is much weirder than W2's.
Yeah WA uses a fullscreen frontend that is locked to 640x480 and has a very error prone backend. Also WA is mostly the same as Worms 2 except that they play Roper and BnG with different rules :/ oh and the default game has less customization then Worms 2 but a better map editor though there are mods for WA that make it extensively configurable.
