Is the GreenPepper version (http://www.amazon.de/ak-tronic-Green-Pepper-GreenPepper/dp/B0001IORPK) a Trymedia version, or not? Afaik this unfortunate Trymedia version is exclusively European. Mine is a German one, so this might be worth mentioning in case there are differences between American and European GreenPepper CDs.

It initially provides v3.0 after installing the game, therefore i also thought it was - aside from the fact that the latest beta updates never worked for me when i installed them on my XP computer.

However, after reading this thread (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30453), i got the impression that this version might not be the Trymedia one after so that there might be the possibility that i could maybe play the game with the latest update(s).

Currently i'm trying to run Worms on Windows 7. Without success.

I've installed and uninstalled it a couple of times now, but unfortunately v3.6.31.0 does not seem to work, so in the end my hope might have been just in vain :(

I'd like to post an errorlog file, but for some reason my computer does not seem to notice any problems with Worms after launching the game, although it just shows me a black screen and will switch back to another window after a short amount of time.
After closing it with Task Manager no Error messages show up.
Oddly enough, a couple of times before (e.g. after installing the 3.0 version by using the program in the thread i liked above) my computer noticed that something isn't alright with the program and popped up a window that would inform me about it, with a button to close the malfanctioning worms.

(Please excuse the long text, i just thought a more detailed description of my problem might help more than just two plain lines :p)

Hi,

As far as I know, 3.6.31.0 should be compatible with the Green Pepper CD.

The problem you're experiencing (Worms Armageddon minimizing as soon as it is launched) may be caused by certain programs running in the background. One known program which causes this is TeamViewer.

Try restarting your computer, closing any programs and processes which aren't required to run the game, then run the game.

Those are great news :)
I even managed to start and play the Game now.
I couldn't find any programms that possibly messed with Worms, though. Instead i changed the Compability and selected 256 colors and 640x480 resolution. (For some reason it still works right now even after deselecting these options again.)

Yet there's still something wrong: It still appears to be an older version. The Team17 and MicroPose intro screens still slowly fade out after clicking, and the WA logo is still pixellated - not clean like this (http://img.informer.com/icons/png/48/1501/1501788.png), as i remember it to be through playing with the 3.0.5.0 Beta update, which was the latest update that worked for me without problems on my old PC.

When i try loading big Maps like that one (http://denk.alfahosting.org/user/maps/BoomRace/WyvernCurvyBoomRace.png) they won't be displayed when i want to load them either despite the fact that it's .png format and the length/height is dividable by 8. I also didn't see any option to choose JetPack fuel or any other handy alternations of that sort either.
So this doesn't quite seem to be the latest version although the .exe does tell me it's 3.6.31.0 from 11/16/10.

So i uninstalled and reinstalled the game again, and let the latest 3.6.31.0 update run over it. With the same results.

Then i tried the same by running the 3.0.5.0 update at first, and then 3.6.31.0. Again without success.

I don't know why, but there seem to go something wrong while updating Worms.
Yet it seems to get slightly updated nonetheless - when i press the Exit button it won't ask me if i'm sure that i want to quit, which used to be the case when playing the (3.0) version i get from just installing Worms through the GreenPepper CD.

You can see the version of W:A you're running by hovering the mouse cursor over the W:A logo in the main menu.

How are you trying to load the map? You're supposed to place them in the SavedLevels folder (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map#Using_colour_maps), not the Import folder.

Currently there is no way to edit Jet Pack fuel in the game. The other options are editable (e.g. mine count, or random worm order).

D'oh, silly me!
When done that way the big maps work for me.

I must have mixed up something with the JetPack fuel. I could remember reading that in some update notes, but apparently i just mixed something up with the Fiddler :p

Well, that means everything appears to be alright with my installment of W:A after all.

I already wondered what's with that complexity range for map generation, since i didn't remember that one... :o

(As mentioned before, W:A also told me it was 3.6.31.0. Here's a shot: )

Thanks for your (incredibly fast) help, CyberShadow!

Just to clarify - Jet Pack fuel is an existing option in the scheme file format, and can be edited using external scheme editors, it's just not editable from the game interface (because editing W:A's interface is pretty hard).

Oh alright, i didn't expect that. I supposed everything that can be set on the scheme file could also get modified through the game interface without any big trouble.

I thought having a "Jetpeck power bar" from 0 to 5 (e.g. with a range from 10 Fuel to 50) would be like the bar for the Ninja Rope, which changes the rope's length.

It's true that Team17 didn't ever finish WA and that it has a lot of potential. This is why there's been so much effort to improve it.

An external scheme editor is not a big hassle unless you're uninformed about which to use. I'll inform you. SchemeEddy (http://worms2d.info/SchemeEddy) is the best one. It takes advantage of the latest scheme format. Also, don't worry. It has no malware in it.

Thanks for that tip, this is really a useful tool.
Too bad it's still restricted in some way (e.g. the Suicide Bomber's power can't be increased by that), but i guess at the point where the Scheme Files just can't be modified any further you'll have to start Worms with the Fiddler or other alternating programs.
