View Full Version : Can't play this game (Steam issue?)
Hey,
As you know, you have to enter your Steam password after clicking Worms Reloaded. So far, so good. However, today in the afternoon I wanted to play this game, entered my password and - Steam says I entered the wrong password.
I tried it again and again and again, until I wrathfully clicked "reset password". Fine. So I just have to enter my account name to recieve a mail with an activation code and a secret question I have to answer, and then I can reset my password, of which I have no idea why I can't use it anymore? Sounds good, actually.
But dang. I read the mail and entered the code but... heh, er, there's no secret question to find in that mail. Nothing but the code. Are they jerking me around or something? Was that a silly Halloween trick by the Steam crew?
What the heck am I supposed to do now? Create another account and rebuy Worms Reloaded?

Most people just let Steam save their password so they don't have to type it every time.
You would have picked the secret question/answer during sign up. It is a bit over cautious that they don't even show you the question though.

Yea I did so, too, however every week or so I have to enter it and save it again. Dunno why, I guessed that's for safety issues.
So I thought yesterday it was this day again, but it's the first time my password wasn't accepted. Now I can't log in anymore! How the hell did that happen?
Btw, I'd contact the Steam support for this problem. Ironically though, you have to log in first.
Sorry for double posting but this really is a serious matter.
Hope I don't sound stupid, but I believe my profile got deleted, at least that's the only plausible reason to me  (I don't know if this CAN actually happen, just a theory)
So if anybody here reads this and knows he's got me in his friends list, PLS PLS check if you can still see my avatar there!
Without being able to log in I had to contact Steam by sending an e-mail to the webmaster. Despite I've read several posts in the forum with people saying you won't ever recieve an answer that way.

*Edit*
Wha-... I searched for the two Steam groups which I used to be the admin of and had to see that the groups have chosen a new admin (randomly I guess), I'm not even a member anymore!!
Just... what... the... damn... F**K... happened?!?

*Edit 2*
um... okay... so...
I found my account (http://steamcommunity.com/id/743543234324111104/), at very least. As you can see, it says it's private... it's never been private, and why can't I log in to it anymore? I fail to comprehend this. I fail to comprehend anything at the moment.

You don't use your Steam login details to sign in to the support page. It's a separate registration.

Yes, but that password didn't work anymore either. There I was able to reset it though, so yea I used a ticket, hope I recieve an answer soon.
Ah-hah! My Steam account now officially has been disabled (see below).
I didn't recieve any e-mail that informs me why this happened. I hope Team17 doesn't release any Worms on PC (or not on Steam at least) for some time, or better never again... like, put their games on their own platform to download :p
I don't see why I should support a company I pay to play the freaking games they have to offer, whereas they just disable my account without a reason so that I can't play whichever game I bought using this feckin' platform.
I assume I can't even complain because somewhere in the agreement it is written they may disable any account without giving a sh*t about telling the user what the bloody reason is, rite? D'oh.
Too bad I didn't spend three days of my life reading through those piles of virtual paper.
wow... Very unlucky. I've been using Steam for almost 2 years and only now i know that can happen. I knew your account could get hacked pretty easily (though, I think that was only in a small period of time) and is why i change my password every now and then.
Though, I still feel safe using Steam.

Yea... Actually, my account hasn't been hacked. Steam only disabled my account without being kind enough to tell me the reason, see here (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=368).
Neat isn't it? By the way, I don't seem to be the only one. The accounts of a few other people ain't working since Sunday, too (see Steam forum). No idea what Steam's doing but the heck I won't take any sh*t from them so anybody knows what I can do to make them reactivating my account?! I freaking payed to play their games, it's obvious I also want to actually play them...!
W:R most certainly was the last Steam game I bought. As for video games, the user should be the one to decide when to play the game and when not if he payed for the license to play it.

What the hell? Email Valve... this is inacceptable.
you don't appear on my friendslist no more.
Did you perhaps buy something without paying for it?

You have obviously been doing something stupid, I am sorry to say it.
Recently, I got a message from your account. The account joined my group: Worms Reloaded The Netherlands, and gave me a link. Like everyone knows, do not click those links!
So someone is spreading links using your account, great.
Don't blame Steam for it.
OH! so this is why you don't appear in my friends list anymore too, also explains why i didn't found you by searching:

Just based on this, heres a likely sequence of events:
Your account got hacked.
You didn't notice so you didn't report this.
The person who hacked your account started using it to try and hack more accounts.
Your account got suspended for scamming people
Ive never actually seen an account suspended for anything except scamming, so...yeah.
The only thing you can really do is contact steam support, and gather up materials that prove its your account to give to them. Receipts for games are usually what they want.
How strong is/was your password?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Password_strength
Once you get your account back and running, I'd suggest you come up with a stronger password, validate your e-mail address within Steam and also change your e-mail passwords to something different and stronger.

Got any idea how it got hacked?
Using the same password for everything?
Did you click any of those obvious do-not-click links?
I'm not sure what to say now...
First, my password is a combination of numbers, capital and small letters and I didn't use it anywhere else but on Steam so it should be rather unlikely somebody figured it out - or isn't it?
Steam's installed on two computers and there's a slight chance my brother sent those links but... okay, I seem to persuade myself of it...
However, even if my account was disabled for that very reason, why don't they tell me by sending a message to the e-mail I registered my account with?
Also nope, nobody sent me a link, at least I cannot remember :P
Check those two computers for malware/trojans.
Maybe you have a keylogger spying on you.
Also, I have idea whether the password is stored in encrypted form, if you chose to auto-login to Steam.
The computer labs in my school are full of keylogers... so maybe yeah
You didn't downloaded somehing strange before you got hacked? like torrents keygens etc..
My account is reset, but this shallow brain of a hacker deleted my friends list damnit!
I hope I don't forget anybody of you to add guys :S

Sounds like you got phished. Did you enter your steam password anywhere else than the official Steam client or Steam page? If you did, it was your fault.
