Hey WR players!
We usually get some really good feedback from the guys over at the WA forum regarding our current projects, so I'm hoping I can expect the same from this new group.
This new MnP map is currently being developed alongside Alcatraz (although I am pretty sure it will be finished first). It is a detachment from my previous work, Family Feud, due to the nature of the theme. You won't find any trees or natural creations here - just steel and hard labor.
Well... maybe some barnacles.
Anyway, the idea of the map is going to be a free-for-all aboard an oil rig. We will most likely be including a few extras at the water line, like a nice boat dock or something. For now, I have attached a nice screenshot (downsized since it seems our work has been getting copied as of late - so annoying). It is of one of the cranes to be included on our nice little rig.

Hope you like it - let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions that should be included in the map.
Thanks!
A big oil spill in a sub-tropical gulf complete with deep-sea bottom-kill action, maybe?
You know the drill... ;)

Hahaha! Nice pun. But actually I'm not trying to bank on the popularity of the BP oil spill or anything. I have just always thought an oil rig would eventually join the MnP family. :)
Reminds me of the Worms4 map, Wormwigs Big Rig Jig. Which was my favourite map of the whole game, mostly due to having well-positioned layers and rooms, and great use of 3D...ness.
I doubt it'd work in 2D though.

I never played Worms 4, so I'm not familiar with that map. But I certainly hope that my 2D map does work for ya when it's done. :)

OK, got an update to the dev work so far. Just fleshed out the crane to its final detail level and finished the helicopter and helipad. I also finished the main pilings (is that the word?) that support the structure (complete with nice little barnacles and sea damage) but didn't attach the screen shot yet since I still have a buttload of work to do on the underside of the rig.
Comments, suggestions...

Looks absolutely brilliant.
You really need to be working at Team 17 to be honest :p
To be frank, in Worms Reloaded there are actually more original, artistic maps from MnP than from T17 themselves.
Because in all the missions and deathmatches, almost only "random" maps are used, with the exception of the few puzzles. All the unlockable maps are AFAIR straight copies from WA/WWP.

Oh no guys! Don't get me in trouble with the Team!!! :) Thanks though bonz. I know what you mean. There are a lot of classic Team17 maps available to play on (once you convert them all to LDS files), but other than the new forts (which are awesome), there aren't many new random custom maps. Would really like to see some more artwork from them in the months or years ahead.
Thanks Shadowmoon! Although aside from the included maps by MnP in WR, I think that is as close as I will ever get to being a Team employee... I do live in America - it's kind of a long commute. However, my wife is all for it.

Another update. This map might get finished in record time for MnP! I think the quickest we've ever completed a map was in about 3 months. That was Titanic D - which incidentally has not been released for WR. It will eventually, and it will be called MNP - Titanic 2.
At this point, the main drilling tower is coming in to focus, I have a few oil tanks, etc.

Repeated surreptitious advertising's been Team17's job, actually:rolleyes:

Yeah I tried to avoid any "BP" references, but the Potatoes side of things insisted. He did a good job on that logo too. It feels like BP... but it ain't. :)

Sorry for the lack of updates on this map. I haven't been posting anything to this thread (and other ones like it) because I was spending too much time working on the map itself!
And it's a good thing... because it's done.
It looks like this map will be renamed when it is released tomorrow for Worms Armageddon and Worms Reloaded. I was just never quite happy with Midnight Oil.

This map has been released: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42268
Good job, thank you! Unfortunately, I can't play on this landscape. If I try to select it in multiplayer the error message occurs "kev data is missing".

OK, that was my fault. I did something stupid when packaging it for WR. I have reupped the fixed version of this map. Thanks Thurbo.
