View Full Version : Too few Weapons?

If this was supposed to be a "ultimate worms experience", why is so many weapons missing?
WA from 1999 had a big collection, WWP even bigger. Over 60 weapons and utilities.
WR has only 47.
While many of old weapons were not used much, devs could still implement them for content.
Now in default mode (without purchased weapons) you are really restricted. However, I can see why. Because there are max 4 worms. That should also not be so. Why not let people choose 8v8 if they want?
Weapons selection suck. Best classic weapons are not there. And many of Super Weapons are not there.
Bleh. I will just play WWP. Who cares about the fancy graphics when you have that bad content. 8v8 with tons of weapons if great fun.
Devs, release a content pack with all classic weapons/super weapons and enable 8v8 play. That should fix almost everything.
Multiplayer is another story but it needs fixes also.
Rope is fine.
But since noone will read this... BACK TO WWP!

Worms World Party is great but there's literally no reason for me to play it anymore especially when for the first time in 2D PC Worms history the AI in Worms Reloaded is capable of finishing a match on its own. Hoorah!
I miss the old weapons. Ming Vase, the Old Lady, Carpet Bomb and so many more. They should have kept them in. They said they took them out because they were too similar to other weapons, but even still the removed weapons had their own charm and hilarity. Bring em back in a patch.

Yeah, I miss the old lady and the sniper rifle too :(
Of course there are always some weapons we all miss. For instance I miss patsy's magic bullet, but you know what? Why should Team17 make a new worms game if the only thing fans want is a graphical upgrade? They are mixing things up a bit. The physics are different, Some weapons are out and some new ones are in. I think it is good. If everything was the same in every game the series would stagnate.

You dont remove things which people like though, makes no sense.
You add NEW things and allow people to set what they want/dont want to be used during offline/online matches :)

Tell that to the fans of monkey island games which has the same core game with new HD gfx and a few tweaks to controls and new voice overs. Lucasarts listened to fans they got the same game but modern gfx. And they are making more like that bringing the old classics into the modern era.
If they could do it so could T17.

The problem with that is that everyone has their own particular favourite weapon or favourite feature. If you adopted that stance then every weapon that ever appeared in a worms game ever would be in, and that's patently ridiculous.

Physics and other gizmos are great. But why remove the weapons? Players have the ability to make their gamestyles so if you don't want them you can just disable them.
And more weapons = more diverse gamestyles. And especially with more super weapons from crates.
There is just no excuse for not making WR packed with all classic weapons + new ones. You can disable them if you want and others who want them can play with them.
This also includes the fact 4worms max. Just enable 8v8 and let players decide.
Worms is highly customizable game and you can disable or enable whatever you want.
As for WWP, I don't care about AI, I play with friends anyway on one computer.

How many of those weapons did you actually use seriously, though? I never found myself using the ming vase, or the sally army. The mine strike was too risky a shot, the carpet bombs being superseded by the sheep strike. The mailstrike and the MB bomb were difficult to set up, let alone execute perfectly.

All those weapons are more useful than the termite and they are much more creative than the bunker buster. Mine strike seems like it would be "easy to implement".

Low grav - always used to zooka or supersheep someones worm from underneath if it was high so it would go out of map and drown.
Granny - No weapon was similar so why remove it, it was funny and a unique weapon with good damage.
Mad cow - Good for hitting worms in diff places, plus was fun. Was unique too.
The sheep (from wa) was miles cooler than the crap one in WR, for a start when using it off a rope it bloody keeps on you climbing on u etc and it doesnt have the sound bah iirc plus looks like xxxx.
Banana bomb is crap in WR i much prefer the WR one.

While I admit the mine stroke was pretty boring, it was still used in some schemes in WA.
Ming base & sally army are VERY good weapons to use in a T17 match on WA if you are lucky enough to get them at the right time, you are right about the carpet bombs, in the Full Armageddon scheme I always chose the sheep strike over the carpet bombs, the mail strike and MB bomb were good weapons to have if you mastered them, although, hardly any schemes to use them in that would help you to win when other weapons are better tatically...

will be nice to see all old weapons again

Yeah, but I doubt we will see much... MAYBE T17 releases some dlc or something but I doubt they will return all weapons...
It is really silly that newest worms game has 15 weapons less than WWP. And of that 47 that exist there are some that really just duplicate others...
When I was buying WR I expected ZILLION of content as they stated in the previews. I was convinced and didn't think about that content will be missing. But in the end, I got a decent game with so much things missing.
Well, at least I know what I will do for the next worms game before buying...

It's overpowered respect to the mad cow! =D But I like it, expecially for shoppa and wxw gametype.
But sincerely...there are two empty spaces in the weapon panel, omg! They could add two weapons, like flamethrower (always useful) and worm select (not putting it only in the scheme editor: it loses its importance). Low gravity could be great, but seen the levels, you don't need it so much.
And a bonus weapon, like zombifier.

Ah....no, I didn't mean those "two empty spaces", akuryou! XP
I mean the two missing icons nearby surrender. Have you noticed there is enough space to put two more weapons?

yh it should have more weapons, btw all the new weapons stuck, but i would pay £20 agin if it included all the weapons from all games, that where not included and allowed bigger maps, and more worms/teams per game

Yea, I was disappointed about the lack of weapons.
That will teach me to pre-order a game. :(
What a bad experience 4 worms limit... and few weapons. What's next? Worms Ninja Rope edition... Only Ninja ropes... YAY!

Really? It seems to work pretty well for Super Smash Bros. Each generation of that game gets more complex, with more weapons, players, game modes/options, single player content, art direction, and maps, all while including most everything that the series has done previously. It's also insanely popular with kids and the casual crowd and has sold a gazillion copies. All of this seems to be the opposite of T17's philosophy as of late...maybe they should learn some lessons about how to properly manage a niche game franchise from the big N.

I so agree, and the great thing about worms, is that if you don't like a weapon/ feature you don't have to play with it, because of the customization of worms(but customization sucks in WR, that needs improving and more options)

How many of you agree with this and would you pay 30Euro/50$ for the next game:
- Keep the graphics and phsyics. It's really amazing.
- Keep the rope. People will get a hang of it (I already did)
- Keep all new weapons
- And keep all that makes this game great.
Now.
1. Bring back 8v8 battles
2. Bring ALL classic weapons including ALL super weapons with new weapons included. And if you want, make few new weapons just for content.
3. Bring ALL utilities from previous worms games + few new ones
4. Make battlefields just a little bigger
5. Make additional stuff like Sentry Guns or Electromagnet to keep the fight even more intense.
7. Make a great Singleplayer experience (Campaign)
8. Make a complete overhaul of Multiplayer interface.
If next worms game have this I would buy it even if it costed 50$.
There is no better way to spend a rainy day with friends playing Worms on a 110cm HD screen.
Screw sports and other boring stuff.
Bring WORMS!
Next Title - Worms: Apocalypse Today.
Come on T17. LiSTEN TO US!
