I've made this point somewhere else already, but choice has always been the essence of PC Worms.

Why not have a WA-style rope for ropers, shoppers etc, and a standard 'new-style' rope for normal games and the like? Could be two separate weapons, or just one as a 'powered-up' version of the other.

That way, everyone will have their game back.

That's a very good suggestion. Having a "shopper rope" added in and leaving the current one in place means old schoolers can have their beloved rope back and those that are used to the new rope can carry on.

The thing is if the old rope comes back, the only type of game we'll see
online will be shoppa and racing schemes just like WA. It was getting pretty
hard to find other types of games last time I played.

The only problem I can see with this suggestion is that the online community will once again become shaped by the "Old school rope". The game will be hideously divided between advocates of the new and old roping physics.

I just think it's healthier for the community to have WA and WR have their own distinct feels. Besides, as soon as the old rope makes its return people will complain that the other physics are different so they still have to change how they rope to make use of new grenade bounces etc.

If the rope physics were changed and the other physics stayed as they are, I'd be happy. The only part of the physics that really annoys me is the rope.

As for the online community being divided, it already is :P

Guys guys, stop dreaming... Lets make a W:A and W:R different, lets leave this rope... blah blah blah...
For creators, the only difference will be this:
wxw, shopper, rope racers, etc will never start playing W:R with this rope, it's better no W:R than this failed rope.
So if you dont want the server full of rope game hosters, you will have 3 players a day who like the new rope.

I don't think they can just "copy-paste" the WA rope, it's a whole new engine with whole new physics.

An interesting idea. Also an idea would be "Super Rope" scheme option. That way, roper schemes can't interfere with normal (and therefore ranked) games. As has been said though, this is a different physics engine entirely. Perhaps adding a low-gravity effect while on the "Super Rope" would work?

The new rope completely killed the old style of ninja-rope gameplay, which is precisely why I (and tons of others) bought the game in the first place. Hence our huge level of disappointment. There was no demo for me to test, so I shelled out the cash hoping for some good old-fashioned roping fun.

As stated, Worms is about customization. Please allow us to customize this part of the game!
