Alien Breed: Impact - stuck on "re-boot" level

I'm stuck on the re-boot level. I need to get into this room, which is locked due to fire hazard. There seems to be no way to extinguish the fire.

My current way-point is inside the burning room. I've looked everywhere for a "fire control station" or anything like that, with no success.

I'm also unable to restart the level -- I always end up at my latest save point.

Any ideas?

It was a glitch in the game. I started over from scratch, and this time, on re-boot, I was directed to a control that would put out the fire.

I went back to my save game with the glitch in it, and here the control is disabled. (And I was never even directed to it. I got no further waypoints after arriving at the door to the burning room.)

I just hope this bug won't bite me again.
