COOP Door will not open

Hey folks, just trying to play coop with a friend and this damn door will not work. There are no prompts as to why it won't open or anything we have to do.
My friend has completed the game but I haven't. Quite frankly though if I have to complete the game in order to play coop that is just...a really *sigh* bad move.

I bought this game to at least spend some time with a friend and if all I can do is stand around in a lift then I might as well of bought something else.

One of you have old pc, try lowering the video settings, and then the player with the old pc need to host the game.

Dont ask me why, but it works.
