Where's the option for both? It depends what the other hand's doing :p
Although i reckon I tend to press it slightly more with my right hand than left hand, despite being left handed...

Just wrote a load of drivel into a text editor.
Almost completely with the right hand although very occasionally my left thumb will hit it. I suspect if I'd been using WASD (or QWES) for games from an earlier age my left hand would reach it a little more frequently.
Right when typing. Left when ninja roping.

Ah yes, when gaming it's almost exclusively with my left hand (right hand is on the mouse after all (or on the arrow keys for W:A or really old games)).

I voted left, but then tried typing something and realised that I use my right hand just as much as my left. In games it's exclusively my left hand though.

Right for typing, Left for gaming.

Left thumb and right thumb about equally when typing, but left hand when gaming, so left overall.

My current latop keyboard's a bit shiny anyway, so it's hard to tell.
Checking my old laptop keyboard, however... right hand. It's probably because I'm better at typing with my left hand - I can use all the fingers on my left hand to type, but usually only use the middle finger on my right hand. This tends to mean that my left hand stays relatively still while my right hand darts about a lot - and while it's darting around, I can press the spacebar.
Mutants!
Left thumb when typing, me. Exclusively, as far as I can tell, though it's not impossible the right thumb helps on some word combinations. It's proving difficult to check because the fact that I'm observing it consciously right now means there's a good chance the results are biased. Also, I only have a rather constricting laptop keyboard at hand right now, but I doubt I'll do this any differently once I have a desktop computer with a proper keyboard again.
When playing Worms, it's the left middle finger when roping as well as when firing weapons, unless I'm in a hurry trying to mash the correct F keys, in which case I'll use the thumb of the same hand. But never for roping, only Dutch people rope with their thumb.
Left for just about everything, hence the thing's going bad on that side. :p
On a related note, I use only right Shift for typing.

Hah, I'm the exact opposite. I only ever use spacebar with my right thumb, but I use left shift exclusively.
I also never use caps lock because I'm in such a habit of hitting shift I always do inverse caps rather than all caps, like "i TALKED TO jOHN TODAY." I can type pretty well with one finger always holding the spacebar though; even with one finger less to type with it barely affects my speed.

I use whichever hand is free when using the shift key. In other words, the opposite half of the keyboard to the letter I want to capitalise.

Right for typing, left for gaming, as far as I can tell. I also pretty much never use the shift keys and use caps lock instead.

I'm finding I use my right index finger to hit the space bar pretty much exclusively. I've not actually noticed what I use while gaming, but it's probably irrelevant because I usually use a N52 anyway while gaming in pretty much any form.
oddly enough, I don't seem to use my thumbs at all while I type. never really occurred to me before.
I mostly use my left thumb for spacebar, but I've never thought of it before I started writing this post. Good to know?

I only use my left hand to hit the spacebar when I'm writing erotic fan-fiction.
Just noticed that occasionally I use my left thumb on space instead of my right index finger, but it's kind of random and subconscious.

Always the left thumb.
Left thumb.
Half-Life's WASD controls from 1998 got me used to that.
I automatically place my left hand on those keys whenever I'm using a keyboard.
