View Full Version : Worms (Original) does not work on Win XP

Hi,

I recently purchased the Sold Out Software CD-ROM version of the original Worms for PC and cannot get it to work. The game installs fine, but when I load WORMS.EXE I only get a black screen. I also tried loading the game in Dosbox and got the same results. According to Dosbox, the PLAY.EXE program that plays the FMV clips is where the trouble lies (I get a black screen with PLAY listed as the running program). Is there a patch or something that I should get?

When using dosbox, did you mount the cd drive properly as a cd drive?

Yes, here is the line in dosbox.conf: MOUNT D E:\ -t cdrom.

Including a label. Make sure you use the latest version of DOSBox or the version listed in the compatability database for that game.

Hmm, did you install worms afresh inside dosbox?

I just installed Worms inside of Dosbox instead of Windows and it now runs! Thanks for the clue, MrBunsy!
