View Full Version : Armageddon for PS3?
Oh, I did some quick once overs on subjects, and used the search feature, but I didn't see anything on the topic (hard to believe).
Will Worms Armageddon be coming to the PSN much in the same way as Worms came out for Xbox live and then a while later the PSN? I loved armageddon back in the day, but I'll never own an Xbox (crappy construction, paid online service, etc etc), so I'm basicly keeping my fingers crossed for a PS3 version.
Thanks guys. :) Glad to see you're all still keeping Worms alive. Keeping any ordinance packing worm alive has got to be a full time job in itself. :p

There was one little post, with a couple of replies not so long ago: I think they ruled it out because a Worms PSN game was just released, so I think it'd be a while before Armageddon reaches the PS3. :(
Hmm, that's ironic, cause I even said, "I won't be buying Worms unless it's Armageddon." I'm sad that we're getting put on the back burner. :( Tell me it isn't so, Team17... tell me it isn't so. :(

Oh yes, I'd forgotten that Team 17 plan all of their company decisions based on whether or not you'd buy their product or not.

Really, is the attitude nessessary?
I'm a consumer. I'll buy what I want, and it's within my right to tell the company what I will and will not buy. I will buy a PS3 version of Worms 2 Armageddon. I will not buy plain ol' Worms. It's up to Team17 to listen or disregard. Nevertheless, your attitude is unwelcome.

S2K often has that attitude because we usually have a bunch of incompetent whiners asking for things that will never happen.
You are, of course, not counted in that group.

Team 17 have said that the game will be coming to PS3, most likely not this year though, so you will be waiting a while.
Really? Where? On ****book?
It would be good to see that but it's unlikely.

Yes, i'll try and find the discussion topic where it said that.

The Worms demo brought me back to the forum here, and I personally wouldn't mind a little verification on this. :)

Why not get it for the PC when it releases Firia? Its 2D so would run fine on any PC:)

Good point but i have my hi-fi sony home theatre system coonected to my PC with a sound card so PC's can have that too!
I just recently bought Worms on ps3, and as a fan of all the pc series, this is disgusting. There is a whole load of things missing. I didnt pay $15 just so I could play a sub-standard Worms game that doesn't even come close to Worms armageddon.
Then all of a sudden, the 360 gets the second new version of Worms armageddon, when there has never been a Worms game on a xbox console before. This kind of favouritism is holding the ps3 back.
The excuse of "it's too hard to develop for the ps3" just doesn't cut it anymore. Every developer has had ample time to learn the tools for the ps3, yet we are constantly handed crap from developers who like the 360 because it's easier and M$ pump all the money in.
Why should ps3 owners support developers when they don't even treat us as equal.
As far as I'm concerned, there hasn't been a level playing field since the 360 came about, not as far as psn titles are concerned.
Seriously tired of this crap.
Sorry to say, but there was a bit of nonsense in your post, I'll help you clean it up.
I didnt pay $15
Correct, you either paid $12.95 or €10.

Worms 2: Armageddon on X360 was announced clearly before the release of Worms on PS3. Why is that a bad thing? If you own a 360 and a PS3, just get the version you like better. If not, well, your choices are a little more limited.
when there has never been a Worms game on a xbox console before.
What are you talking about? If you meant the X360, then you might not have noticed that the PSN version was just a polished up port of the Worms XBLA released some 2 years earlier. BTW: that's the reason the other 360 game is called Worms 2: Armageddon.
If you meant the original XBox, then you must have missed the release of Worms 3D (http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox/914699-worms-3d/index.html), Worms 4: Mayhem (http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox/925795-worms-4-mayhem/index.html) and Worms Forts: Under Siege (http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox/920514-worms-forts-under-siege/index.html) back in 2005.
This kind of favouritism is holding the ps3 back.
There were other factors besides the joy of picking on PS3 fans. Like Sony's stance of taking over the rights of any game released on PSN, which they dropped just months before the release of Worms.
The excuse of "it's too hard to develop for the ps3" just doesn't cut it anymore.
And where exactly did Team17 say that?
Please note that I am not really happy with the Worms I bought, either - thought for other reasons. It's just better to stick to the facts.

Actually it's $15.95 AUD on the Australian PSN Store but the rest of your corrections were right, Worms 2: Armageddon is definitely not the first Worms game to hit XBLA.

Alright I admit I was wrong about most of the things in my post. Doesn't change the fact that Worms was on Playstation long before the Xbox version came out.
I've hoped for a sequel to Worms armageddon for so long, because I still consider armageddon the creme de la creme of Worms. The fact that the Xbox 360 gets it first with no confirmed release for ps3 is thoroughly disappointing.
Maybe Team 17 aren't try to snub ps3 fans, but I see alot of multiplatform games that are biased towards the 360. The call of duty series is a perfect example, because Activision is known to have issues towards the ps3.
I really hope one day the ps3 version will be out, and I hope it isn't too far away, because sometimes it's almost a year before we see the ps3 version after the Xbox 360 version comes out.
Make no mistake though, I will still get the PC version when it comes out, and the ps3 version when and if it comes out.
I love Worms, because it's like chess and action games rolled into one.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Sorry i forgot you on the other side of the planet there, didn't even look at the location info... :o
@raff: the PS3 version of the "first" game isn't out for very long, that would be the primary reason not to bring Worms "2" too quickly. In fact, i would be surprised if it wasn't at least a year after the first release (that would be March 2010 in Europe, don't know about australian store), more likely a year from now.
Also: most shabby PS3 multiplatform titles are not due to "hate" or even "lazyness", it is because they shy away from the investment of a proper port. Instead of distributing the graphical data to both memory pools and utilizing the SPUs to the full, most developers just copy over the architectural approach from PC/X360 and make quick adjustments. Graphics are scaled down until they fit into video memory, even though there is free main memory (from which the PS3 could render just fine). And then the code is optimized to use SPUs where neccessary and no further. It is a business decission (invest as little as possible to ensure profit), not attitude.
Still, for us PS3 gamers it is frustrating now and then, especially when the port is way below X360 standard. If it is nearly on par, maybe even a bit inferior, i can live with it. The game is probably still great (if it was in the first place), and if i wanted to ensure the maximum quality, i'd need a lot of expensive hardware. You will have to live with the fact, that you can only get the maximum of your PS3 with exclusive titles.
BTW: if we wouldn't all love Worms, we wouldn't be here at all! :D

That makes sense although I feel the ps3 version could do a bit better, given how graphically un-intensive the Worms series has been.
I wasn't really expecting W2:A to hit ps3 anytime soon, so I can wait for the PC version and be content :D.

But Worms 2: Armageddon isn't a sequel to Worms: Armageddon. It's a sequel to Worms, the initial XBLA release. In every way.
Just wanted to clear that up.

Well I feel alot better now knowing that. I don't have a 360 so I couldn't tell.
One day though, I hope there will be a sequel to Worms: Armageddon, because that would be epic :D.

WWP, perhaps?
WWP, perhaps?
WWP was good, but I don't consider it a true sequel, because it didn't change that much.
I was thinking of a whole new experience, a bigger, beefier Worms Armageddon. New sequel that once again sets the benchmark :).
Nothing will be better than W:A and that's just something you'll have to live with I'm afraid.

I really hope Worms 2 comes to the PSN, and soon!
I would buy it in a heartbeat.
