Alright. So here I go. I just purchased a dual pack with both Worms Armagedon and Worms 2 for PC. I was to try and put Worms 2 on my netbook. BUT. Here's the problem.
Netbooks dont have CD drives. Therefor I would need to install from the disk. I copied the whole disk into a folder and then I copied that folder over to my Netbook using a flash stick. I got it on and I actually got the game installed just fine.
Now when it comes to playing heres my problem. I tried hitting the shortcut from the start menu. And it says "searching for w2.exe". I don't know what that means. Could this be because there is no CD? Next I try launching from Program files and finding an exe there. I find one and try it out but I get some error that I cant see because the screen goes all black. I think this also might be a no cd thing
Here I come and ask is there any way I can get my Netbook to play this? Most small games I have gotten working either through it being a digital purchase (IE no CD required).
Thanks

Tried just emulating the CD?

I havent tried Armagedon yet. And I can try to emulate the CD but I prefer not to have all that crap installed on my computer
No CD cracks are completely forbidden on this forum. Do the smart thing, emulate the disc, and install it from that. It's not going to take up whopping amounts of space here!

Alrighty then. Could someone then link me to an .iso I can download. Or better yet is there just a way I can emulate it from one of the discs files?
Thanks
install alcohol 52% (freeware) and make an MDS/MDF of your game disc. install Alcohol 52% on your netbook and mount the image on a virtual drive.

Yeah, that really is the only way to legally run the game - with an image you created of your own disc. The game doesn't install all of the necessary files onto the computer. It keeps some of the data on the CD. You still need the disc in order to run the game.

Alright that seems to have worked. Thanks
Does anyone play this game online anymore? There dont seem to be any games on when I connect to the server
Do you join the #AnythingGoes channel/room?

No I haven't. The only choice is to connect to the UK server and when I get on there are NO rooms at all to join
oh yea, you're talking about Worms 2, most people play W:A in the #AnythingGoes channel.

Alrighty. Got it installed. Works fine.
But I can't connect to WormNet. Hmmm. Could this be because its being emulated?
Ugh
I also did the Command prompt thing where I put in the address for WormNet and it works fine (I got the blank screen)
Can anyone help me connect now?
Emulation shouldn't be a problem (unless you don't own a legit disc) because there is no disc protection for the game anymore. The disc is only required now because not everything is installed to the hard drive.
As for your connection issue, I can't say, maybe check your firewall/router settings? make sure you can connect to IRC channels as that is what the W:A online lobby uses.

What is the Adress to the IRC Channels?
I also have the "Sold Out" Edition (Came with Worms 2 and W:A). And I couldn't install the 3.0 patch. It made the game not run for some reason. But there was a BETA 3.5 patch on the disc I assume I was supposed to use so I used that instead
I know there is another BETA patch out. Should I get that one instead maybe?
sold out is installed with v3.0 already applied, you should only install the latest beta update.

Looks like that worked. I'm now connected. Just needed to get the beta update installed
Thanks guys :)
Yeah, the IP address of the WormNET server was changed, and the old versions had the IP "hard coded" (not really).
