1) What operating system are you using?
2) To what location did you install Worms Armageddon?
mghayes43
16 May 2009, 14:16
I'm using XP and I loaded it in the default directory where it said to its in microprose/worms aremgeddon and downloaded the latest 3.6.29.0 update it seems that the writing on the top of the page where you make new teams is all garbaled and not readable at teh top wherer it says team options and scheme options its all weird colored
but all teh teams the game comes with adn the team I made are gone I can go back in the game and see the last level I played and the time. I can go to microprose , worms armegeddon , user , games and the games are there so it saves them

Could you make a screenshot of the screen that's "all garbaled"? To make a screenshot, press the Pause/Break key - the screenshot will be saved to your User\Capture folder.

Have you tried reinstalling the game?
mghayes43

everything works for a while then it seems that playing death match when you get up to elite and shut down then it clears all names and you have to start over

Please run the commandcmd /C dir /S W:\ > C:\filelist.txtsubstituting W with the drive letter of the drive you have the W:A CD in. Then, post the file filelist.txt from your C:\ drive.
Also, please post the contents of W:\Data\Resource\version.txt, if such a file is present on your CD.
mghayes43
21 May 2009, 13:33
there doesn't appear to be anything in it teh filelist.txt file . and here is the data resourse file also
CyberShadow
21 May 2009, 13:35
If the file is empty, you're doing something wrong. Check the command that you're entering (you're supposed to enter it in the Start -> Run dialog box).
mghayes43
21 May 2009, 16:36
OK it worked right this time I don't know what I did last time
mghayes43
21 May 2009, 16:39

CyberShadow
21 May 2009, 17:01
Do you have a User\Teams directory under the W:A directory?
mghayes43
22 May 2009, 13:49
the ionly file in there is a WG.WGT and it won't let em upload it to send it to you but thats all that's in there. there is 4kb in it but says its a invalid file

Is your user account type a limited user, or an administrator?
mghayes43
22 May 2009, 19:02

Please download Process Monitor (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx) and add the following filter:
http://dump.thecybershadow.net/0d4ff7cefb270d285a0e12944025c988/wa_team_pm_filter.png
(don't forget to click Add).
Run W:A and try to reproduce the problem (get W:A to show the error message you mentioned).
Save the event log (choose to save only the events displayed using current filter) in the Native Process Monitor Format (PML). Compress the PML file and post it here.

I don't get a error message I just can't see the team names anymore I will play tomorrow until it doesn't work anymore usually when I make elite in the death match

I'm going to send you some files from the user /capture folder but I can't op0en them now for some reason if you can you will see what I am talking about at first you will see team names then at the end they are gone. This is so weird now I play 1 game and the team names are gone. Is there a DLL or something that may have a problem for this to happen I thought I had a problem with a virus a couple of months ago and had a bad ram module and ran the virus scan quite a few times and I think thats when it happened best of my knowledge what do you think
Mike

23 May 2009, 20:50
It is certainly possible that these bugs might be caused by a bad RAM module. A bad RAM module is a hardware problem, and you can't fix it with an antivirus. I would still like to check a Process Monitor log - try to get a recording of a run where you create some teams and they disappear.
mghayes43
23 May 2009, 21:08
I'm not sure I can get one I don't get a error message the teams are mjust gone the next time that I go to play the game and when I go to play again the window above is what I get with no team names in the menu where you select your team the bottom window is where I created 4 teams and after playing 1 game and going out and relogging into W A this is what I get on the top 2 windows I will try to get a log of it
CyberShadow
23 May 2009, 21:11
Okay, so just try to make W:A forget your teams during a Process Monitor recording. Process Monitor should record how W:A accesses your team file, so the log could show why W:A is forgetting your teams.
P.S. Do you think you could use some punctuation in your posts? They're getting hard to read.

Hi I'm back haven't been on line this week. Does the process monitor run all the time or do I have to turn it on each time I play the game. I have never used this program
I got the file but compressed its 139KB how do I make it smaller
CyberShadow
30 May 2009, 05:20
Please read carefully what I said above. Run it, reproduce the problem, save the log like I described above, then close it.
mghayes43
30 May 2009, 15:01
I ran 6 games or so the names haven't gone away yet but I sent you the file anyway
Hey I did it right I think
Mike

I'm sorry, but the file is of no use to me if you haven't recorded the log when your problem occurred.
mghayes43
30 May 2009, 15:20
OK I will keep recording when I am playing and when it happens I will send it to you

There is nothing in this log regarding W:A or the team file. You either set up the filter incorrectly, or recorded it incorrectly.
mghayes43
3 Jun 2009, 23:11
Hi does this monitor record all the time that file is used. Because I don't know when it deleted the team name! Do you have any suggestions at all I think its something in the computer
CyberShadow
3 Jun 2009, 23:32
Process Monitor will record all events as specified in the filter as long as it is running and recording is enabled. If you have trouble using Process Monitor, I advise you to consult its documentation.
1) Filter -> Filter (first image)
2) execute W:A and perform bug
3) File -> save (2nd image)

Hi I made another team yesterday and played a few games the last game I quit early in fact. I had the monitor running all the time so the problem should be in the file I hope

The file you posted only includes profiling events. Why did you disable all other events and enable only profiling events (which is disabled by default)? Please enable file system activity tracking and disable recording profiling events and try again.

HI It just did it again I made a team. played 2 games and quit playing. Rebooted computer team name was still there decided not to play and closed WA. later restarted WA and team name is gone here is file

This file has the same problem as the previous one - it only includes profiling events, which are of no use for diagnosing your problem.

how do I do that the help file won't open give me a little help please

See the last 5 icons on the toolbar. It looks like you enabled only the last one, which is the reverse of the default settings.
mghayes43
7 Jun 2009, 14:37
give me a configuation and I will import it I think I can make it act up by rebooting the computer and quitting a game
CyberShadow
7 Jun 2009, 14:48
Good point. Import this using Filters -> Organize Filters -> Import, then load it using Filter -> Load Filter -> WA Team File Monitoring.
mghayes43
7 Jun 2009, 15:12
I turned on the icons and I think I know how to make it reset. play a couple games shut down game reboot computer. start another game and names are gone. here is the last file and I will download the configuration

7 Jun 2009, 15:14
This one has the same problem as the last two.
mghayes43
7 Jun 2009, 18:14
how do I tell if the new config is in the program. I ask because when I try to import it I get the Microsoft warning that the program needs to stop and to send a report or not send report. Is there a way to make sure it took it
CyberShadow
7 Jun 2009, 18:19
Um... that's strange. Let's try to do it another way. Try importing this registry script before you run Process Monitor.

Thanks, this log file has the necessary information.
A few questions:
1) Does a WG.WGT.tmp file remain in your W:A folder right after your teams are deleted?
2) Do you have any antivirus software?
mghayes43
14 Jun 2009, 13:45
I do beleive the file remains all the time but I don't beleive teh size ever changes its always 2KB
yes I do run antivirus spyware Dr I think
CyberShadow
14 Jun 2009, 20:50
Could you test if completely closing or uninstalling your antivirus program resolves the problem?
mghayes43
17 Jun 2009, 01:50
I beleive I did that once before but I will do it again. It hasn't cleared it the last 2 times I played this last weekend. But there is no ryme or reason why it clears anyway
mghayes43
20 Jun 2009, 15:50
Hi I closed the antivirus and it cleared again here is the file on private paste This is so weird it worked fine for about a week or so on and off I have been playing to see when it quits

Hi the team file name was there yesterday until I shut down the computer last night at night the team name was there today its gone. That is weird but it sounds like something in the reboot process to me. Here is the zip log file take a look and see if anything is there but I checked a couple of times yesterday and the team name was there I hope the process monitor caught it
CyberShadow
23 Jun 2009, 15:38
Sorry, there's nothing in that log file except profiling events.
mghayes43
25 Jun 2009, 14:36

Thanks, looks like this log file finally has the answer to your problem.
The problem is caused by the PC Tools Security Service and PC Tools ThreatFile Service. They interfere with W:A's attempt to save the team file, which results in W:A not being able to save your team file properly. We may implement a work-around for this in a future W:A version - in the meantime, I suggest that you either completely stop said services while running W:A, or add W:A or its directory to an "exception list", if your software supports this feature.
mghayes43

thanks I will see if I can do that. I will let you know

I put WA in the exception list but it still doesn't work Going to try not running program when playing game
thanks

28 Jun 2009, 16:04
I put the WA on the ignor list and it doesn't seem to be the only problem what else do you see that could cause this to happen
CyberShadow
28 Jun 2009, 20:59
Completely stop the offending services or uninstall the application.

it seems to be fixed I e-mailed the problemto dr spyware and he sent me a file to disable the program thanks for all your help
