You can do this using GlovePIE (http://carl.kenner.googlepages.com/glovepie) and a 360 controller.
I've also written a script for GlovePIE which lets you play WA with a Wii Remote and Nunchuk: [thread] (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=32731)

GlovePIE is very easy to write scripts for, so have a play about in it and see what you can do. I use it in the lounge to control the cursor from across the room. It's pretty convenient, actually; if you're interested I could upload the script but you'll inevitably write your own anyway to match what you think the controls should be.

I made this AutoHotKey script (http://dump.thecybershadow.net/d66cf5279054bf29ee02d8b51eb14e98/JoyWA.ahk) a few years ago.

This works great with my Logitech Rumblepad 2.

wooooooooooo

i play using a regular xbox controller. some (even team 17) feel that worms games are far better with keyboard than pad. i disagree. i grew up playing wa on ps1, so i realy suck with the k/b. the only downfall is the fkeys, which i just asign multiple fkeys to one button. the upside is all the buttons you use to play have a finger on it or right near it. and it just seems natural to control a side scrolling character with a d pad rather than a arrow keys, and for me its backwards to control the char with my right thumb, let alone hand.

i used to use a program called "joy to key" to emulate the keys with the game pad. now i use "xpadder" which is alot better. there is also a program you can purchase called "pinacle game profiler" which has lots of options and downloadeable schemes for games (not worms). all those programs suport any gamepad/joystick and let you change the buttons on the fly, so you can set up something comfortable in game

as far as drivers go the xbox 360 controler has drivers available from microsoft via micro update. the regular xbox controler you need a homebrew driver, the one i found and use is "XBCD" there is a 360 controller patch for "XBCD" that allows you to use the 360 controller and the big green x button which you cant use with the microsoft driver.

to use a regular xbox controler(realy usb) you need to chop and splice your xbox breakaway cable with a usb extension. if you cut back the outer sheeth on both they have the same colored wireing, except the xbox has an xtra yellow wire for light guns. just solder and electro tape. xbox breakaways can be purchased for about 4 bucks via used game store/ ebay.

id like to get a stand alone keypad and asign the fkeys to it, that would be my optimal layout

hope this helps! contact me in ag if you wanna set something like this up!
