A possible idea. The board could be a 12x12 grid, with land water and cliffs. Like this one:

The weapons could be given as cards, most random events like crates could be determined with te dice, ie: roll one die to determine type of crate(1 weapon, 2 health, 3 utillity, 4-6 none), roll both die to find x coordinate, then both again for y, if water/worm in that square, no crate.) The game would be less about aiming skill, more about strategy. Weapons would have to be range limited, same with distance taveled, but this idea could work. You could even work some things from wormpot in, like sticky mode restricts movement one less, slippy mode one up. Explosions could knock one space back etc. Think about, its possible.
