View Full Version : Short-term-memory failure

I just wonder if anybody else's short term memory fails them sometimes like mine does. For example, there was this one time when I put down a music CD, and within 3 seconds I had forgotten where I had put it. Or this other time when I was looking for my cap and it was on my head. Then there was the time I was looking for my wallet and it was in my pocket. And another time when I was looking for my watch and it was on my wrist. There have also been times where I have clicked the "reply to thread" button and a few seconds later I have forgotten what I was going to post.
Nah, that's normal. You'll be surprised at how often people, say, forget where they put their pen when they're holding it right in their hand!

I imagine it depends on your habits, if you actually "exercise" your brain or not. I've blown my short-term memory years ago.

Could do with sleeping disorders?
Makes your mind to screw up more usually.
Don't worry SF, everyone has memory lapses now and again. For example, I've seen plenty of guys even wonder where they put their pen when they're already holding it!
Prolonged cannabis use can cause short time memory problems.
Eh, I've never, ever smoked weed in my life. Yet I've not been without my own bouts of short term memory fail. ;P

I've never smoked weed either. In some of my cases it was probably sleep deprivation.

I think it's more a case of not bothering to remember things like where you put your pen down 5 seconds ago, rather than forgetting per se. And everyone does it.
And who hasn't looked for the cap/glasses/wallet only to find out you had it on you all the time?
Sometimes at home I open the fridge when what I wanted was a spoon etc.
For me, it is usually when I'm putting something somewhere and something distracts me just as I finish placing the item. keeps me from paying attention to the items new location.
I hardly forget, I mostly just don't pay attention :P

I often dream things that I think have actually taken place and then try remind everyone of this said event, only to find that it was a figment of my imagination.

None of this ever happens to me, and I smoke weed regularly.

Please enlighten us with the perfect thread topics. For us are too fool to realise the only true way.

My short-term memory is completely shot a little buggered when it comes to doing anything outside of a computer or drawing. I'm naturally a daydreamer, and my mind drifts almost to the point of a catatonic state at times.
Actually, I've lost my mechanical pencil recently.
Must go find it before I forget... kudos go to the thread-maker for co-incedentally reminding me.
