View Full Version : Freeze when trying to join a wnet game
Hi i got a strange problem with wormnet, when i try to join a game hosted by someone, i get the window where it say : connecting to the host etc etc like if it was all fine but after a few seconds it freeze and i cant do anithing, neither press cancel. But on the background wormnet work fine and i can see the other ppl joining the channel etc etc. I readed a old post where cybershadow said to disable the ffdshow and i did it but im still in this situation.
My provider is fastweb and it work with NAT so maybe this is the problem, i havent a router to configure but an HAG wich i cant configure at all because is blocked by the provider, if somebody have a clue on how to solve this problem i will really appreciate this.
ahhh i have installed all the patch required to run the game properly and my so is win xp pro. No firewall
p.s. sorry for my bad english
thx for the patience

Did you install the latest Beta version (3.6.29.0)?
yes, and the xp patch too

Installing the patch after installing the Beta update will downgrade your game! You only need to install the Beta update.
i did it in the right sequence:
xp patch and then the 3.6.29.0 beta
so i think it should work

Please install WormKit (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/) and the attached WormKit module.
Run the game via WormKit, reproduce the freeze and press Ctrl+Break. W:A should close, and a file named FREEZE.DMP should be created in your W:A folder. Find and post this file here.
Like you asked here's the Freeze.dmp
thanks again for your patience

Could you please make a network packet log of a connection attempt? Get WireShark (http://www.wireshark.org/), start a capture, try to join a game, then save the capture and post it here. Use the capture filter "tcp port 17011" to filter unrelated packets.
installed it, started the scan, tried to join a game and it freezed as usual, waited abour a min and nothing happened.
So i have used the crtl+pause combo.
and there is the log from wireshark

Thanks. Could you please try the 3.6.28.0 Beta (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/files/WA_update-3.6.28.0_Beta_Installer.exe) and see if it works with that version?
ok i have reinstalled WA with the 3.6.28.0 beta and the problem is the same.
But i have also tried to run WA in a Virtual Machine with mine same OS and the patch 3.6.29.0 beta, and in this case i havent any problem to join a game online, everything goes fine, i get the countdown and the game start flawlessy......so obviously it's some kind of software issue with the real one, any clue on how i can found where is the problem?

Do you have any network-related software installed, like traffic shapers, anti-virus software (which scan network traffic), etc.?
mhh the only software network related it's the antivirus : NOD32 wich have a internet monitor, but i tryed to quit it and start the game and nothing changed....the same crap freezing thing.......what about ffdshow? can u explain me the correct way to disable it? maybe i did it in the wrong way.
I have flagged the option "dont use ffdshow in" and i have added WA.EXE to the list, but i dont know if it's enough to disable it

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. Do you still need help with this?
I'm having the same problem, when I try to join a game it says 'Connecting to Host' and makes me wait 30 seconds before kicking me back to the join game screen. I've disabled both firewalls and I'm running Windows Vista home edition. Help please!

oO, that's weird !
I had for the first time, after 7 years, my first freeze while trying to join a game.
I don't know if it will occurs again, but if it can help, it certainly had nothing to do with my connexion. I double clicked, then I freezed when the loading pop up appeared.
I had nothing but winamp and few others program running (samurize, object dock, lclock).
But I noticed that my extern hdd on which my iso is, was badly connected. So it was probably comming from the fact that my iso wasn't correctly readable.
So you should try to see if your iso/cd is healthy.
