I was a big fan of the game on PS1 back in the day so I bought a brand new PC version of W:A to install on my new laptop. Everything works fine except for online play, which I bought the game for. I get to the wormnet login screen, no problem, but when I hit the 'log in' button after entering a password I get a brief flash of the lobby, a bar of the theme music and then the game crashes and dumps me back onto the desktop with a "Worms has encountered a problem and needs to close" message and a curious dialogue box telling me that:
The instruction at "0x73dd1351" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terminate the program
I have a high spec laptop (not that you'd need one to play this game) and have installed the latest version of directX (10). What could be causing this problem?
I would be incredibly grateful for any help. I googled the error message and found one result on a french forum: http://www.wormsschool.com/forum/t_17867_17_probleme.php
...but he only says to install DirectX, which I did and which didn't resolve the problem.
