I'm sure Spadge said something about Worms for iPhone/iPod Touch at one time... Perhaps that could be the third?

Actually, I'd say it'd be the long-awaited Worms World Party for NGage 2.0. That's still to come out.

You are right, it seems very unlikely that Team17 will come out with three big projects in one year.

How about a cross-platform worms for portable devices...I-phone, N-gage and pocket-pc all against eachothers?
In this thread we speculate using our sweetest dreams as base because seeing them typed out makes us actually believe our stupid thoughts.
Hay guys, I think it will be an improved WA with enhanced online play, feature rich Armaggeddon goodness.

You're right there. What you're wrong about is thinking that it matters; I'm strongly guessing he just wants W:OW2, but doesn't have a DS/PSP. We get that kinda thing a lot.
Heck, the amount of times I've heard that W:ASO, a game that makes extensive use of the WiiMote, should be ported to a different console...

Just repeating myself: since worms for I-phone has been "confirmed", here's hopping that it will also be re-released for the nokia and ppc platforms (both great ports, just needing a little updating and marketing). Come on you guys, I don't carry my DS as often as my phonee (and I don't want an I-phone)...

Surely the SixAxis could do the same thing on a PS3, albeit badly.
They should port it to NES and make it PowerGlove compatible. That reminds me, I must buy a PowerGlove, strip a Wii Remote of its innards and fudge them into the glove. Then I can be cool. I love the PowerGlove; it's so bad.

Maybe it can badly do the motion sensing, but I don't think it can do the point at screen thing at all.

Can I join in with the ludicrous suggestions and announce that I would like to see a Worms game for the Microsoft Surface (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Surface)?

Good point.
I think the 3rd title is a Worms game on Wii with UGC, DLC and wifi. Everyone's doing it these days.

Well, if Worms is coming to the iPhone/iPod Touch, it shouldn't be "too hard" to port it to Microsoft Surface ;)

Yeah, let's port PS3's GTA4 to the gameboycolor, they're both consoles or something.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're making some kind of attempt to come across as sarcastic, but that's still not going to stop me picking your post apart.
PS3 and GBC are totally different ballparks - the iPhone and Surface at least have a very similar user interface: multitouch, unlike the PS3 and GBC. Might be worth actually reading up on both technologies before you try and make a sarcastic reply.

That's even harder, as 'Mario world' was never made on the GBC!

Hmm...
Leisure Suit Larry,
Codemasters annouced they are publishing the game in April. no word on if codemasters or Team 17 bought the LSL IP from ActivisionBlizzard or if they just licensed it to get this one game out.
Team17 are not publishers. Codemasters are therefore probably the ones publishing games.
It's important to understand the difference between developers and publishers; developers are the ones that actually make the game (ie the code), but publishers are the ones who print it onto discs, box it, get it out in the shops etc. Publishers usually get all the credit as well because their logo in modern games usually appears before the developer's logo.
Team17 are not publishers.
With XBLA, PSN, WiiWare and soon DSiWare (or whatever they're calling it), anyone can be a publisher! Even you!
Oh yeah, also, publishers fund most of the gig, get most of the say in terms of content (although they have little to no creative input and what they do provide is most often of little worth), usually handle the DTP, marketing, QA and any other out-sourced work they need doing on the game (I say handle, I mean organise and control).
Producers are usually the publisher's little entity on a game's team. Of course, that's not always true, it's just something I have observed a lot.

Producers in a development company form a barrier between the developers and the publisher. They handle all the interaction between the two companies and manage the developer's milestones. Its a very similar role to the job of producer in the film industry. They make sure that the environment is conducive to the project's fulfillment.
I'd really hesitate to call any of our producers a "publisher's little entity". They tend to smoke a lot and can get quite shouty at times.

A tiny amount of info about these "Three new titles" is available in the oldest wall post here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Team17-Software-Ltd/64566768063?ref=ts
Worms for PSN and iPhone
"Something" for XBLA in spring and for PC too
Alien Breed Evolution in the summer
"And more after that"

Obviously W:A Decades

If it was, why wouldn't be on PSN as well? Nvm, I see its published by microsoft, so its not goin near psn, too bad. :(

Worms PSN is coming out first. It won't be as advanced as Decade but will be more advanced than the original Worms XBLA.

I don't know but Worms PSN is coming out first and won't be as advanced as Decade but will be more advanced than the original Worms XBLA.
Thats too bad for me then since I'm getting a PS3. S'pose I'll get it on comp. (even though my comp is pathetic, it should run this fine, not like its Fallout 3 or something.)
Hang on did I miss something big here? Worms 2: Armageddon? Wasn't that released, oh, 10 years ago?
Also, it's another XBLA game. I don't have a 360 so maybe you could all chip in and get me an elite. Yessum.
Hang on did I miss something big here? Worms 2: Armageddon? Wasn't that released, oh, 10 years ago?
No, this title has never been used for a Worms game before, nor has it been a previous working title AFAIK.
The working title Worms 2: Reinforcements was changed to Worms Armageddon, when the game became much bigger than the expansion pack it was first designed as.
But yes, as we can see, this new title causes confusion easily. I really hope they change it.
Worms Armageddon Decade isn't the best either, BTW.
They should call it something like Worms Aplocalypse, Worms Holocaust, Worm War III or Dawn of the Worm: When There's No More Room In Hell, Dead Worms Shall Walk The Earth.
I hope you're listening, Team17! These excellent ideas are free of charge!
Also, it's another XBLA game. I don't have a 360 so maybe you could all chip in and get me an elite. Yessum.
FOURTH! You're the fourth person to think it's an XBLA exclusive! You have no excuse!
My excuse is that it says:
Worms 2 Armageddon, for Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade, coming 2009.
And also it says:
A screenshot from the forthcoming Worms PSN on Sony PlayStation 3
This suggests to me that there are 2 different titles in progress, one for XBLA and one for PSN.
Where's the evidence that it's not an XBLA exclusive?
edit: Might I add that Kotaku also suggests it's an exclusive:
[...]it's quite possible that Decade is a Live Arcade "exclusive."
This suggests to me that there are 2 different titles in progress, one for XBLA and one for PSN.
Where's the evidence that it's not an XBLA exclusive?
Team17's Facebook.
"Coming in Spring will be a new title initially for Xbox Live Arcade and later for PC." (http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=69168925265)
It's the first thing they put up there!
But what's especially bad about it here is that it was discussed just four posts before your first one today, showing a reaally bad case of thread skimming!
It doesn't say which game that is. It could be Alien Breed from the way the post reads:
First will be Worms for Sony PSN on PS3, this is expected in March 2009. Full feature set of the game will be revealed in due course. It will be available in the US and European territories.
Evidently this Worms game is a PSN exclusive. It's not XBLA or PC.
Coming in Spring will be a new title initially for Xbox Live Arcade and later for PC. This game should be revealed in March and is sure to cause some excitement.
There is an XBLA game coming out which will later be on PC. No title is mentioned.
Worms iPhone will arrive sometime in 2009 too.
Another Worms game mentioned. It's not XBLA or PC.
Other than Worms, Team17's big release of the year will be the all-new Alien Breed Evolution, based on the universe created 17 years ago. The game, a digital download release will certainly raise a few eyebrows when revealed, also most likely in March this year (keep a look out for news at Game Developers' Conference).
Digital Download, eh? So... XBLA and Steam perhaps? Oooh, sounds a bit like an XBLA game which will later be released as a PC game, wouldn't you say?
Team17 also developed the latest Leisuresuit Larry title, initially for Sierra before they were merged into Activision, which is a full retail title, is M rated and will be published by Codemasters (Team17 worked on this title for 1.5yrs). It features a Hollywood script and excellent voice acting, as well as a rather naughty 'Superbad' style script.
This isn't XBLA as it is a "full retail title". That eliminates that from the possibilities.
So there we have it, my logic at work. I might be wrong (I hope I am) but I suspect I'm not (I now hope I am twice as much as when I last wrote "I hope I am").
...except that:
1: The XBLA/PC game is mentioned before the 'Other than worms' group. Not straight out, but it's a good indication that it's a Worms game.
2: The two games are talked about in distinctly separate paragraphs.
3: The Alien Breed game is said to also be released in March, said right after the XBLA/PC game was mentioned, showing that they are referring to two separate games.
...except that:

You're assuming a lot of information based on a post's layout.
2: The two games are talked about in distinctly separate paragraphs.
Which two games? Worms and Alien Breed? Well they probably would be, wouldn't they? What's your point?
3: The Alien Breed game is said to also be released in March, said right after the XBLA/PC game was mentioned, showing that they are referring to two separate games.
It sounds to me like they're trying to hide the Alien Breed release date(s). Does March count as Spring? It doesn't actually have the word "also" in that paragraph, either, so there's little indication that it's additional to the Spring XBLA/PC release.
Which two games? Worms and Alien Breed? Well they probably would be, wouldn't they? What's your point?
I meant the XBLA/PC game and Alien Breed!
It sounds to me like they're trying to hide the Alien Breed release date(s).
Mistake. I meant revealed.
Only trust Dream17 when it comes to Team17 news.
The names of both are so similar, it must have some meaning.

This screenshot is great. It shows that dynamite can go through walls in the new game :D

The dynamite is above the worm on the rope, in the middle of some land. Is this a new terrain graphic or a publicised bug?
It's showing that you have dynamite selected to drop, on the rope.
It's showing that you have dynamite selected to drop, on the rope.
Ahh.
Is it the like the old ones that were in a small frame floating next to your worm?
Roboslob
6 Mar 2009, 01:06
Yeah, it is the same as that, just without the little box around it. They did the same thing in W:OW/2 and I think XBL.
It looks more like it's ain a fixed location at the top-centre of the screen. I mean, it's a bit too far from the worm to be following him as it would in WA, say.
It could do with a box, I reckon. And sheep which jump out of crates.
Metal Alex
7 Mar 2009, 16:18
Yeah, I agree with the box thingy. Should make things clearer.
By the way, the game looks pretty nice so far.
I'm not forming an opinion until I see it in movement. What may look silly for a still frame often isn't when in animation.
That's true but the way it looks right now is as though if you were roping near the top of a cavern, you'd not be able to see which weapon you had selected.
