View Full Version : Where does the beta update store its files?
Hello, I wish to make a CD that autoruns and executes a batch file that will run the Worms Armageddon Installation Wizard followed by the 3.0.0 patch then the 3.6.29.0 beta update.
The 3.6.29.0 beta update does not contain everything and downloads 2 files (IIRC, the new weapon colours + the actual beta update) from the internet, where does it "search" for these files? does it search the same place it, itself resides in?

The W:A folder. The files are WAPatch.exe (ftp://ftp.team17.com/pub/t17/patches/pc/WAPatch.exe) and GfxUpdate-3.6.28.0.exe (ftp://ftp.team17.com/pub/t17/patches/pc/GfxUpdate-3.6.28.0.exe).

Of course, this is just to simplify the reinstall of the game if the need ever arises.
Ok, it works :) just made an autorun.inf file that loads a BAT file that loads the neccesary programs and stuff. Since the beta update requires files to be where the game is installed and the files most likely won't be present, I have included a note in the BAT file about having an internet connection during the install.
Yea, I know, this sounds like I'm burning a copy for someone BUT I'M NOT! grrr. Also, the 16bit subsystem in Windows 7 fails :P had to reboot after a few tests making sure the BAT worked (from a virtual drive) in order to get the installer working again. I also learnt the command DIR /x
