View Full Version : worst shots of 2008!
Yes it's that time of the year again, the time for the Worms Armageddon Annual Awards for Atrocious Gameplay!
Go to the site (http://www.nanacide.com/worstshotever/index.php)
I'm a lot happier with this year's batch, it seems a lot more people remembered to upload their shots so I ended up with twice as many, and they seemed higher quality too. Hopefully the site will see another such increase in popularity for 2009!
Let me know if any links are broken, and if anyone can speak Spanish there's a bit of translating that needs to be done on the Spanish page for 2008.
enjoy!
Awesome, the quality has indeed increased. Nice job, had lots of fun watching those. :)
Thanks, I enjoyed watching those last year.
However, I cannot remember how to start replay playback at a specific time. Can someone remind me how?

Right click on the .wagame file and select the option from the context menu.

That worst shot of the year made me crack up. Thanks!

Hmm, that's what I thought it was, but in Vista it's not an option.
Oh well, I'm watching many of these anyway. I like "worst ****up", what were the chances of that. :)

Hmm, that's what I thought it was, but in Vista it's not an option. You need to run W:A at least once under the Administrator user to let it register the file association.

it would be better if you didn't need wa installed to watch. this would open it up to casual gamers/wormers. It would be sweet to spread worm armageddon influence. It could help attract new players. :)
Yeah definitely. For the last set of awards, someone made a youtube video of them.

IIRC, manually associating .wagame files with wa.exe works too.

He's talking about the playback at... feature.

Hmm I tried playback from another time but the playback just gets restarted from 0 (even tho it says it's starting from 4:00).
Can anyone youtube these?

Why don't you just fast-forward to the respective times? That's what I do (because I want to open the file at once after downloading).

Are you sure you're entering 4:00 into that playback at.. box then? Typing 4 only will let it start at 4 seconds. Maybe that's what you're doing.
Edit: As for the youtubing, I can do that. Does anyone know a tool to record the sound in a replay? I'm doing the video via the extract video thing, works fine. But I'd like sound too. D:
But I'd like sound too. D:
Record it separately using any audio recorder (select Stereo Mix for the input) then add (sync) it to the video-timeline.
I get the best results by running an audio server (NCH BroadWave) on the computer playing the replay, and recording the stream through network, using any player as the receiver (output) and Audition as the recorder (recording the output by setting Stereo Mix as the input source).
I tried Audacity but can't seem to get it to record the replay's sound.. Can you give this noob step-by-step instructions please? Not for Audacity, anything is fine as long as I get a .wav file with the sound. :)
Edit: Figured it out, I didn't have "Stereo Mix" checked in the recording settings. I'm at it now, will let you know when I'm done.
Use Windows' Sound Recorder application. Make sure you have Stereo Mix selected in the Windows Recording Control panel. Start recording, run the replay then stop recording and save the file. This is a raw method. If it does not work for you, I can provide instructions for other software.
EDIT: lol, OK.

Yeah definitely. For the last set of awards, someone made a youtube video of them.are there plans to do the same this year?
skipping through the rest of the video and loading up WA every time gets a bit tiresome.

Read more carefully. ;)

uh.....almightybob doesn't even TAKE a shot during his turn at 18:02 much less the most incompetant one of the year....
edit: and it's not even run's turn at 34:01 for that same award. who the hell put the times on these videos?!
edit2: I see those 2 were the rubberworms thing. what am I watching if not the same game that's on rubberworms or whatever? what is it that doesn't display?

This is quite obviously what the post was replying to ;)

in the original Worms game, when an action replay happened, sometimes a mine would explode after 3 seconds instead of 2 seconds as it originally had, and the action replay would play out differently (completely differently if that mine killed a worm, for example)
the same kinda thing happens with rubberworm replays. they were created with one set of rules, but you're trying to play them back with another set of rules. if something different happens, like a worm lands up in a different spot, then the further along you play the replay the more the situation diverges from its original. think going back in time and stepping on a butterfly.
also: lol @ the recursive confusion in this thread
This is quite obviously what the post was replying to ;)
Akuryou13's post was approved afterwards, lol! Either that, or my sight is leaving me...

Aku is not under moderation ;p

Wasn't the fun thing that the game continued with the altered reality of the replay? :)

No I've tried with 4.00, 4:00, 4;00, every possible way of entering 4 minutes. And it does say it starts at the 4th minute, I can count seconds you know.
Meh maybe my installation is just messed up. No worries.

I always use 04:00 and it works for me.
I'm busy with other stuff right now, need to get that done first. I will make a compilation of all these shots though, just a matter of time. :p

XRay99 did that last year. It's a year and a day old now. If I see him on, I'll remind him.
