aw dudes it's christmas coming up!!!!!! also the new year and hannukah and kwanzaa and yule. i'm so excited i can hardly contain myself. this is a general all purpose thread to discuss holiday-related things.
christmas presents: i bought a plush weighted companion cube for $30 on valve's merch store for my college roommate. i bet the guy who bought this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/Weighted-Companion-Cube-Official-Valve-Plush-Portal_W0QQitemZ200280020708QQcmdZViewItem) for $115 feels like a real idiot now!! i also plan on buying a game of some sort for my family.

bought my wife a CD, a faerie statue, a charger for her camera and a splatter pig.
my family did the secret santa thing and I pulled one of my sisters, who'd asked for a blender, so I got her one.
I also picked up 4 other splatter pigs, one for me and the other 3 go to close friends.
I think that's all I bought for this year.

I doubt its terminal velocity is very high, so probably not much more than what you would get by throwing it at a wall as hard as you could.

It would engulf the whole world, and then slowly retreat back into it's piggy perfection. All hail the splatter piggy.

SSBB. Or maybe ACCF (or ACLGTTC as it's called here in the EU). MKW would also be a good choice.
Confused yet? :p

Got an ATI Radeon HD4850 1GB GDDR3 from my parents. That should last me a few years.
And a bunch of money from grandparents as always.
Got Little Big Planet -- mainly so I no longer have any excuse not to finally get myself a PS3, which I'll most likely do within the next couple of days. :p
Stealing the show this year, however, is the airsoft rifle I got -- a perfect scale replica of the M4, complete with a buttload of accessories like a flashlight and a simple scope and a laser sight and all that happy junk, and even an actual full-auto firing mode. It's pretty darn cool. Haven't tried seriously shooting at anything yet. Will probably wait for more agreeable outdoor conditions -- ie, where every surface of the known universe isn't coated with 3 inches of water-slick ice. The weather hasn't been polite lately.

Just remember not to shoot at police men.
When they can see you.
My dad reports having shot himself in the hand with it as a test and finding it to hurt like all hell. :p
People do wage paintballish warfare with the things, but, needless to say, pad themselves pretty heavily. :p

What means does it use to propel the projectile? Does it run on compressed air or CO2 or is it one of the spring-powered varieties?

doubt it's as cool as my lightsaber
What means does it use to propel the projectile? Does it run on compressed air or CO2 or is it one of the spring-powered varieties? It isn't compressed air... I think it's gear-driven somehow, but I'm not sure. Does incorporate a rechargable battery.doubt it's as cool as my lightsaber Iiiii dunno, it's pretty darn cool, and would allow me to thwart ninja zombie robots from a considerably greater distance...
Edit: I use the phrase "pretty darn cool" more often than I'd realized. :p
I got a nice pair of speakers (Logitech Z-4) for my computer.
They sound great have have quite possibly the best volume dial ever.
Coincironically my headphones broke just the day before I got these. O_o
Edit: Merged two words.
My computer works really well. I also have newfound respect for the kaffeine media player because it detected and set up my DVB capture card automatically.
Ironically my headphones broke just the day before I got these. O_o
Clearly whoever gave you the speakers wanted to make sure you used them, heh.

also, yeah I've gotten quite addicted to that game again. Seeing achievement progress in the HUD is fantastic game design, it makes sure I can't stop playing.
Speaking of which, I got scouts to hunt with Natasha... *starts steam*
