We need another Worm game on PC. The last one on PC was Worms 4 I think, all the other ones have been for handheld's or consoles, which is fine, but no where as cool as the PC ones. I don't think any of the new games have matched the amount of weapons, soundbanks, and landscapes from WA and WWP.
Are there any plans to go back to making PC games?

I don't particularly need one. In fact I think it would be unnecessary.

we have been asking for a new PC worms for a looooong time and I think it is necessary, Team 17 you need to understand that you canīt lose with releasing an improved worms game for the PC. Now that you have gotten newgamers to worms you can finally release an ultimate worms with the biggest selection of weapons, soundbanks, landscapes. It would be gaming nirvana..

You say you want a new worms game, but how could you possibly better the original WA? If you can think of a good answer to that question, I may well rally for a new one too. At present, I'm still very happy with WA.

Yes, they can.
I assume you mean 2D, because Mayhem is really not all that old yet, and publishers are loathe to release in 2D because they don't think anyone will buy it. If Team17 write a game that never gets published, they lose.
If Team17 write a game that does get published but loses money (there remaining a chance that the publishers are right about 2D games), that will make it harder to publish in the future, and they lose.
Most videogames lose money. It's very, very easy to lose in that kind of a market.

I find it pretty hilarious how 2D fanboys aren't considering the 3D games as "Worms". :p On the other hand, if they are happy with WA, it's okay, we seriously need a perfected 3D Worms for PC. Worms 3D and Worms 4 Mayhem were great, but they both lacked some small yet important details, and there are still huge gameplay improvements that can be done.
Personally I do not believe that there needs to be any new 2D worms games on PC.
What needs to happen is that Team17 should dedicate more resources into updating Worms Armageddon and Worms World Party (Hopefully finally unifying the two). They could refresh these games by making them fully compatable with the latest operating systems (I cannot get World Party to work on my vista laptop), perhaps give a slight graphical update, and some new content.
If they were to do this then they could probably re-release them as well.
I realise that Deadcode and CyberShadow are currently working on this and doing an excellent job, but it would be great if Team17 got on board and sped things up.

Yet no one seems to want to point these improvements out to me. I'm not being patronising or anything (that's probably not even the right word), I just have yet to see anyone explain that there are enough core gameplay improvements that need to be made to worms to create a whole new game with and then actually list some of these. I can't think of enough, so I still think that gamers have gotten the best out of the Worms series.

wormds in 3d will NEVER be as good as in 2d and as much as you quote me or try to convince people that 3d is better deep down you know that my statement is true

Imho, something must be done about the turn based system itself.
Seriously, how could anyone in his right mind say that having only one member left in his team should be an adventage...(one of the only things i've always hated in Worms)
If you take Gunbound for example, the initiative system in this game could be easily ported to worms and make the way it's played quite envolve...and I think folowing that road, there would be tones of ideas coming that could make Worms something new.
I like WA pretty much exactly as it is. I'm with KRD on this one and I think Deadcode and Cybershadow do an excellent job. More of Team17's involvement would probably hinder their progress and be bad business for T17.
Team17 needs to release more non-Worms games. Or perhaps a fully integerated UGC side of the game so UG maps, teams, hats and scarves can be browsed and dnownloaded from within the game.

Then again, why couldn't Deadcode do that himself?
I would particulary like a new 2D worm due to the change they made on the worms' concept when they released the first 3D game. It turned out great and we're still stuck to the old designs on WA now.
Open warfare would be a good adition for the list of PC games. I don't know exactly the details about programming for consoles, but i believe it wouldn't be much hassle to take a game that already works and adapt for PC.
Basically (bearing in mind this isn't a comment on Deadcode's ability) I think Deadcode would be unable to do it because WormNET doesn't really support those features, although it is primarily IRC so file transfers aren't that large a step away, I guess. But then, it doesn't have the intrface/infrastructure necessary for a full UGC suite, it would just be a list of UGC available based on the users currently online. Although, WormNET does use some HTML so maybe I'm just thinking inside the box a bit.
I'd love to try Worms XBLA but I don't have a 360. Also, I love W:OW2 on DS but my CoW friends don't own DSes - bring them both to PC!
As said time and time again, the main reason that there isn't a 2D Worms game on PC now is because it'd have to compete with the heavily-updated W:A for popularity. And to point out, W:A is a game originally made as an expansion to another game and then got a shed-load of updates for it. Not easy for a stand-alone game to beat, at all!

I think the reason is actually lack of publisher interest, plus piracy concerns, etc.
And I wouldn't call W:A "heavily updated", more like "scarcely updated". Or like "updated every four years or so".

Tell me, when was the last update? June or July last year, wasn't it? And when was the last update before that? June the previous year, wasn't it? The last time I checked, 3 months didn't count as one year. Or maybe by "or so" you mean -3. Also, it's heavily updated every it is updated.
EDIT: I just checked and found out that the biggest gap between Beta Updates so far has been a year and a half.

Wasn't meant to be taken literally, Captain Oblivious to The Point.
Point is that updates are not frequent enough and not game-changing enough for it to be considered a heavily updated game.
they should use as menu background music the music used in the worms open warfare intro.that music rocks.

Lets hope that....but there are nothing to think a new worms for PC is in the making.
There's really one thing I want in WA. I would like WA to support 32-bit color. Why? Because:
A. Windows 7 no longer properly supports it without killing an essential process which causes us to lose systray icons...
B. 256 colors screws up other things in the modern windows UI, since newer machines don't expect 8-bit color to be used anymore. I pretty much have to reboot into an older OS (like XP) to run worms: armageddon properly in its current state without it degrading the OS in the process.
C. I can't make really cool maps for WA without dithering them horribly. :( True-color png maps would rock!
If a new game were to be made instead of upgrading WA to full color, I would hope the new game would have just as much support for custom schemes (including allowing us to edit the ammo of every weapon in the game, including secret weapons), as well as being able to make custom maps or even tilesets for it. Oh, and custom sound banks, graves, and flags. <3
Me and a friend have the most fun making maps of stuff we draw and killing each other on the map, sadly some of our ideas are held back by being able to use only 64 colors (113 if you destroy all the environment and background effects). If anything, a 32-bit WA would be great!
Tho, lesser important things I like but really am not asking anyone to go out of their way for, would be WWP features being added into WA in some way (wormpot settings, invisibility, etc) and the ability to edit water/sky colors for specific maps or tilesets in the map editor/import screen. In a 32-bit worms, the sky gradient could be completely smooth. ;)
As for 3D , I didn't like 3D cuz it felt really gimped out. Only a few weapons, and only like 6 terrains. Also, you couldn't build your own maps, but rather had to randomly generate clumps of square-shaped pieces of land. I like having as many weapons as possible, and full customization.
Also, the fact that most worm games are being made for consoles now, make it even less likely we'll see a new worms with the flexibility, control, and content-creatability we have with WA. It's sad, cuz I would like to play worms with upgraded, full color graphics and effects... but not at the expense of losing what makes WA sooooo fun and interesting.

We just need feature updatable Worms. When it updated, you has a new guns and new features (not like Service Packs). That will save worms avaible sequel. We just need 1 sequel that has new-new-and-new features. We need them than a new sequel that has a same gameplay. And, a Windows 7 compatible and map editor is fun. And....what will happen if i said the 2d and
3d worms should be packed in 1 game? Its maybe very difficult (its need to remake the engine) but that save cost and simply cool ;)
You mean in the same way Team Fortress 2 gets constant updates? Or Worms Armageddon? Because for that, you'd either need both enough popularity and enough in the bank to pull it off without losing a lotta money, or you'd need two people to do it for free.
