Welcome to the wonderful world of computers? :p

Often it's easier to just wipe the disc and start afresh from backups.

Ironically, I get a 404 on that page.

EDIT: nevermind, I get it right now.

Just be glad you could see the friggin' screen! Apparently, the monitor on my laptop is a driver-operated device; so when my drivers go (happened twice), so does the monitor.
If I didn't have a dual monitor, I would've been royally screwed.

So yes, you can see why I'm getting a new comp in three days.

Yes, but not on the main family computer. Hence the "crap crap crap what do I tell my parents crap crap" issue.

I had some friends that used it, and they found it better. HOWEVER! They study informatic, so I guess this applies for people who are expert at it. Like, "not for amateurs".

The problem with Linux is no matter how many easy ways of doing things they provide, you won't find anything that covers them.

Yeah. That's very very true. You're just one command away from completely losing everything.

I find it hard to get answers by asking people, if everyone was nice and helped everyone then more and more people will use linux and more and more people will be able to provide "live" support :P eventually everyone would know how to use Linux.
