View Full Version : Connecting wormNet without irc?
Is it possible some way to connect to WormNet without connecting IRC channel? I'd like to play WA at school, but i think they have blocked ports which IRC needs, so i cannot connect to WormNet because of that :(
I've read that WormNet's chats are separated IRC channels, so could it be possible to just get somehow serverlist and join games?

i think your teacher has good reasons to prevent you from accessing irc. his reason may be, that you dont visit the school, to play worms ,D
i think that would be a big timewaste. dont you agree?

It is possible, but I don't think I am allowed to say how. Best wait for CyberShadow.
Direct IP games with your friends maybe?

Don't snoopers allow doing this? Chat (IRC) is independent from the game list.
I believe all snoopers released thus far either close or crash if they cannot connect to WormNet1's IRC.
I tried some snooper, but it didnt work either.
1 install firefox
2 install firefox's addon user agent swithcer http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/useragentswitcher/
3 in firefox, tools->user agent switcher->options->options.., user agents window, add one with just a description and "T17Client/1.2" (without quotes) to User Agent, and close this options window
4 activate the newly created profile (tools->user agent switcher)
5 visit this link http://wormnet1.team17.com/wormageddonweb/GameList.asp?channel=AnythingGoes
6 you get a blank page, press ctrl+u to get its source, the game list of anythinggoes is there

That was the method I wasn't sure if I was allowed to give out...
EDIT: You made a few mistakes in your method.
1) The user agent switcher (and therefore steps 1-4) does not seem to be required (I just sucessfully called up the page in IE6...)
2) The URL should be http://wormnet1.team17.com/wormageddonweb/GameList.asp?Channel=AnythingGoes (note the capital C in Channel)

Thanks. I already tried that some day, but didn't work bacause "channel" was written in lower case -.-

you get the page with the headers (<GAMELISTSTART> and <GAMELISTEND>), but always no contents, if you don't use the user agent overrider.

I think that requirement disappeared when the speed optimizations were introduced...

No. You get that when you misspell the URL (ie not putting a capital C in channel). I got the full list with Opera and Firefox and IE with the default useragent.
