Post your computer specs!
My computer is crap- can't run much games at all, and i'm getting a new and better computer soon. So i don't feel the need to post my computer spec's, but if anyone asks i will.
How to find out your computer specs? use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
or.........
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Just select a game and test it, to see if it will run on your computer. Then you'll find your computer specs.
OK, here are mine. This was when i was testing to see if i could run spore (i know i couldn't anyway) but i was curious to find out what they are.
Its a crap computer. I shall be very happy when i get a new one.

Another computer thread, ah heck.
Compus-Fastius
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3
Intel Core2Duo E6850 3.0 Ghz
ATi Radeon HD2900XT 512MB
2× OCZ Platinum Alpha PC8000 1GB (Yeah I know, I bought it because of the looks of it...)
2× Maxtor DiamondMax 250GB in RAID0
Dellus-Fastius(ish)
Dell Dimension 4600i
Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz
ATi Radeon X1950Pro
4x Some old memory 512Mb
Maxtor 80Gb
The 'dxdiag' command is much more convenient than that site.
And yes, I may just be saying that because it listed 'unknown' for all my specs.

What the balls?! Only 510mb RAM? It's supposed to be twice that much!
Hm. I guess one of my sticks must be blown. And it would explain why Spore keeps really slowing down as I play on. I better correct the in-game Memory setting.

IIRC, the GT series always had a few problems with games not working as well as they should on them.

Seems to work fine. Every now and then a particular game will repeatedly crash and you have to underclock the memory bus to get it to work. Although I think my card was overclocked at factory.

I'm really happy with all my specs except for my dang Intel video card. With the amount I spent on this computer, it needs to last me an additional 3 years (1 year old) until I graduate uni. Given that up until a year ago I was on a 400Mhz celeron, 256mb ram, and 4mb video card, I think I can handle being slightly out of date...

Better than my '01 desktop, most likely...

I rather invest that money into new PC hardware parts to upgrade, because I'll always need a PC for many other things than gaming anyway.

Don't bother. Gingerneck is actually a figment of a forumer's imagination, it doesn't have a nervous system of its own.
Edit: wait, does the brain actually count as part of the nervous system, or does it just count as a separate part controlling the nervous system? I could never figure out which.

Hm. Windows has, for the third time so far, gone corrupted itself. I'm pretty sure now that it's a problem with the hard drive.
Edit: I've now done something that's either very risky or very stupid, or both, and decided to re-install Windows to the Backup drive rather than the main drive. Let's hope I don't regret it.
Edit again: Well, both versions of Windows are working now, but I don't know whether the first one had it's missing files replaced at installation of the second, or whether its taking the files from the second directly.

Funny, it doesn't link to the "fix" that it mentions =) anyways, I believe it worked from the get go when I bought mine in november/october (IIRC) last year.

Well, better than my PC which has Intel GMA 900.

That's because it is a very old revision - the whole thing was removed anyway in the latest revision, so it doesn't matter.
I was surprised, because the only thing stopping me from running team fortress 2 at recommended, and then running it faster, was my graphics card.
I have a laptop, but i can exchange the video card, luckily. I am VERY happy because I know where you can get laptop cards (I think)
My laptops CPU is measured at 3.37 GHz. WHAT THE HELL.

I'm gonna guess at that it's actually a little-out-of-date second-hand one.
Or a lot-out-of-date, if it's a desktop.
Edit: Wait, the Pentium Ds were only made for Desktops. Sorry Yauhui, but that computer's even worse than my soon-to-be-replaced Laptop. You should still be able to run most modern games at low though.

Yahui's computer is probably part of one of those commercial deals "for the whole family" that comes with a web cam to exchange photos with your friends all over the world. But he just needs one or two more sticks of RAM and perhaps upgrade his graphic card and he will be able to play anything on high.
Nope, I got it from my brother for MYR500 (US$144.74).
Quite a deal, since it came with a keyboard and monitor (which he took back just recently).

well there's no secondary monitor RGB port :\
Do you have the card box? Sometimes it comes with adaptors.
My father's friend installed the thing, so I don't know.
Adaptors? Hmm, I'll ask him.
your card has 2 ports though, right? there are DVI to VGA (and vice-versa IIRC) adapters that cost like 2$ AUD (maybe 4$ now that the stockmarket crap is happenening and the AU$ took A 20c nose dive)
There are three ports: RGB, S-Video and one more which isnt labelled.
I have a picture here:
http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/417/snb13417qp0.jpg
the unlabeled one is DVI (the white one). Go to your local PC store and get A DVI->VGA adapter.

says here (www.svideo.com/dvi.html) that you'll need a conversion box for VGA > DVI.
oh and internet says that the ATI Radeon X1300 comes with an adaptor, but its missing :\
thats exactly what I was talking about, A DVI->VGA Adapter. they call it a converter box because there stupid and trying to cash in on stupid people.
I have a very short cable for my PowerBook that converts DVI to VGA to allow me to hook my laptop up to older displays and projectors which don't come with DVI. No bulky or expensive boxes or any nonsense like that. Just a few inches of cable with a plug on either end.

I have one that is just a double plug, no cable or box or anything. Came with my Fujitsu Siemens PC.
I said a VGA > DVI conversion box, not DVI > VGA.
:-\
Anyways I've asked some PC shops and they don't have that adapter thing.
The connector on your card is DVI, I assume your 2nd monitor is VGA because you say you can't connect it, so you will need a VGA -> DVI Adapter (which some call A converter).
What's wrong with that?
Nothing, really. I'm just very surprised it's that high.

Wait, uh, so a DVI > VGA and a VGA > DVI converter is the same, right?

No. A DVI > VGA converter converts DVI to VGA one-way, you see. The same goes with VGA > DVI (which is what you need).
DVI > VGA means DVI is converted to VGA.
VGA > DVI means VGA is converted to DVI.
your after the former of the 2.

Congratulations, 2 screens is just something made out of pure awesomeness.
But well its kinda weird, because when I press on the "Show Desktop" button the Messenger window which I have open on the secondary monitor will also minimise, and if I start an IM conversation with a contact, the chat window will appear on my primary monitor not secondary, if only it can be tweaked.
EDIT: fixed that. but i want my taskbar to continue on the secondary monitor :( maybe it'll take time to get used to things.

Yay! I have a good enough computer to play Spore Creature Creator, except the video card! Unfortunately, that isn't likely to be improved, since the computer I'm using is a laptop. Also, the measured "free disk space" includes the free disk space on my 80GB external hard drive. The 40GB main hard drive is almost full (I'm not the only one who uses this computer - in fact, it's not even my computer).
Your video card may not support pixel shader so, the game won't play :P
