mysteriously slow pre-game phase. Help!

the moment i double click the WA icon, it becomes annoyingly slow, but the game runs just fine. same with online play, it is sooo slow during i am in chat(before game starts) and very little during the game...my configuration is very good, and connection too.
what is the problem?!
is it XP?

Have you tried the registry tweaks described in the FAQs and ReadMe?

SlowFrontendWorkaround_On.reg sounds like it could do the trick to me. ;)

Or SlowFrontendWorkaround_AntiFlicker.reg if you get flickering buttons and boxes with the other one.

Doesn't look like the usual frontend problem though.

djumbir, could you tell if the Logos on the intro are slower than usual (assuming you can compare them to other places you've played), and the navigation through the different menus? Or does it only happens when you're on the game lobby (were you light your bulb), does it happen on the wormnet channels?

That solves my slow problems, the SlowFrontendWorkaround_On.reg doesnt do anything but removes the flicker for me. I have always, and will still always assume/consider the 2 have the names mixed up.
