If i use songbird, itunes or another music program I have songs don't always switch right away and the game lags while it switches songs. Is there anyway to solve this problem, is it only me?
Use Windows Media Player + FFDSHOW? or Winamp 5?

Give your music player a lower priority using Task Manager. The songs will switch even slower, but the game won't lag.
Or just get a dual-core.

three things:
1) A while back I never used to have this problem
2) As it is sometimes it doesn't switch songs unless I minimize
3) Could it have anything to do with any changes made to the game in the patches?

Regarding 3) - if anything, the situation could have only improved, since the new W:A versions don't use 100% CPU any more.
except in online games ;)

could it have anything to do with the way wa plays sounds?
solved the lag problem by changing the settings in all the music players to not associate with the file types, but sometimes it still doesn't change songs right away. when it doesn't, it does after a sound or at the end of the turn, any ideas?
The fact that changing file association has an effect on the media players, shows that what your using isn't coded that well IMHO.

That doesn't make a lot of sense.

It will be in the next beta.
The beta that is 6 months late from your theorized guess at a release date :P
foobar2000 doesn't always switch the song right away, but at least it never makes the game lag.

Thanks bloopy.
Winamp buffers ahead on track change by default, preventing lag spikes and enabling smooth, precise track changes. If your audio player doesn't do that, it's bad.
and said buffering, introduces lag spikes in W:A since it would hog the CPU if you didnt have a multi-core or multi-cpu system.
Which in conclusion tells us: Use Winamp!

Meh, I prefer the pause in between tracks myself. But I do have a dual core, so it doesn't really effect any other programs.
