I'm pretty sure this topic has been exhausted but I have looked around at ppl's solutions but they dont seem to apply to my circumstances.

Problem - No one can join my hosted game

Set up - Windows XP with original 1998 CD game installed with patch update to latest patch. Windows firewall is active.

Internet access - 3 Mobile USB Modem (no landline, no router etc, just the usb modem)

Tried solutuons - Unchecked Forced ID, Windows firewall settings have been changed to allow the Worms exceptions. There are 4 listed in excepeions. 1 is the actual program exe, the other 3 are ports. 7010, 7011, and 7012.

Any help in getting this sorted would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Lee

The only port that needs to be forwarded is 17011. Seems like you made a typo somewhere.

They were the ports that were automatically created after installing the game. I have changed them to 17010, 17011 and 17012. I have also done 6667 just in case.

I know of no legal copy of the game that automatically forwards any ports.

windows firewall does popup when something is blocked and asks what you want to do.... it could have added all the ports when he clicked to accept/allow the game.

Windows Firewall's prompts add the entire application to the exception list, not separate ports. Also, that doesn't explain where the incorrect port numbers came from.

Maybe I added them during a previous installation. I uninstalled it a while ago, and have just re-installed it again. I guess the ports have stayed there, and I just assumed that the installation of worms automatically did it. Never mind. Anyway, any ideas what I can do or is it a problem with my ISP?

necro_lee, if this information is of any help to you, you should know that I share my Internet connection with a laptop through LAN. Until some time ago I was able to host games on the laptop, now I can no longer do that, and I haven't changed settings of any type. Thank God though that my desktop has no such problems.

add a 1 in front of all the ports currently in your firewall.

Don't forget to forward TCP port 80 as well.

Don't forget to forward TCP port 80 as well.

You don't need to forward port 80. If you are reading this forum then you already have access to servers running on port 80 and you don't need to forward port 80 since you are not running your own web server (even if you were it's not worms related).

The only port that needs to be forwarded is 17011.

Yes, but people using routers have to make all of the port forwarding settings in their configurations anyway - or at least with my setup that has gotten a lot crazier since the last time I was on the forum.

The 3 Mobile USB Modem might be doing network address translation which means you need to go to its configuration and forward ports (not just on your firewall). Do you a model number for the modem? Look it up on http://www.portforward.com

Try http://192.168.0.1 to see if it comes up with a login page.

Virtually all routers come with those standard ports opened by default.
After all, their configuration is done via a web interface.

Start the command prompt (it's in accessories somewhere). Then type ipconfig and press enter. Then look at the "gateway IP" and type this into the address bar.

In ipconfig check what IP your computer gets assigned.
Then change the number behind the last dot to a 1.

try 192.168.1.1That works. I am able to host again. :D

My routers factory setting is 192.168.1.1 which is why i suggested it.
